  • Objective of this paper is to develop the user mobility model(UMM) which is used for the performance analysis of location update and paging algorithm and at the same time, consider the user mobility pattern(UMP) in zone-based cellular networks. User mobility pattern shows correlation in space and time. UMM should consider these correlations of UMP. K-dimensional Markov chain is presented as a UMM considering them where the states of Markov chain are defined as the current location area(LA) and the consecutive LAs visited in the path. Also, a new two dimensional Markov chain composed of current LA and time interval is presented. Simulation results show that the appropriate size of K in the former UMM is two and the latter UMM reflects the characteristic of UMP well and so is a good model for the analytic method to solve the performance of location update and paging algorithm.

  • To investigate the svnthyesis of muscle proteins during differentiation of chicken myoblast, cvtosolic and membrane fractions were used for both sodium dodecvl sulfate polvcrylamide gel eBectrophoresis and two-dimensional gel electrophoresis. An extensive cell fusion was observed in 4 day culture. In the protein pattern of the cvtosolic fraction from SDS-PAGE. several protein bands including 250 kDa and 46 kDa showed remarkable changes during culture. the protein of 46 kDa was the most prominent one ann its optical density was the highest in 5 day culture (OD = 1.30). In the membrane fraction, band of 19.8 kDa showed the highest absorbance with 0.93 OD at 12 hr after initial plating and decreased gradually thereafter to 0.23 in 5 nay culture. From the results of two-dimensional gel electrophoresis of cytosolic fraction, the 46 kDa spot was observed as ko separated forms from culture 2 nary culture, and the sixte of this spot was the largest in 5 nay culture. In the pattern of membrane protein, the extensive appearance of newiv synthesized Proteins was found in a naut culture, but no Prominent spot was observed throughout culture. From the results of the present clay, we found that, during myoblast differentiation, the most prominent proteins were bands of 46 kDa and 19.8 kDa in cvtosolic and membrane fraction, respectively, and the appearance of new proteins was initiated at 48 hr after initial plating, and the 46 kDa protein was predominant in the cytoplasm of late culture in which extensive cell fusion was observed.

  • Prior to the downloading of the NC codes to a machining center, the NC tool-path can be verified in a computer. The Z-map is one of the tools for the verification of NC tool-path. The Z-map is a two dimensional array in which the height values of the Z-axis direction vectors are stored. The Z-axis direction vectors are arranged in a rectangular grid pattern on the XY plane. The accuracy of the simulation comes from the grid interval. In the rectangular Z-map, the distances between the grid points are different. The distance in diagonal direction is larger than those in X or Y axis directions. For the rendering of the Z-map, a rectangular grid is divided into two triangular facets. Depending on the selection of a diagonal, there are two different cases. In this paper, triangular Z-map, in which the Z-axis direction vectors are arranged in a triangular grid pattern on XY plane, is proposed. In the triangular Z-map, the distances between grid points are equal. There is no ambiguity to make triangular facets for the rendering.

  • This paper describes three-dimensional (3-D) standard curves for single prismatic buried bodies in induced polarization (IP) method. Dipole-dipole IP responses for the bodies are calculated by the numerical modeling technique using an integral equation solution. The pattern of IP responses for conductive targets depends on the ratio of the width of body to the depth extent. The IP response of a body of six units in strike length approximates that of a two-dimensional body. In addition, if the strike length is long enough, a layered-earth interpretation is applicable for a body much longer than four units in width. Moving an IP line away from the center of a body alon gstrike produces an effect similar to that of increasing the depth. Moving the location of body along line has little effect to the pattern of IP responses.

  • In this paper, 3D face recognition system is designed by using polynomial based on RBFNNs. In case of 2D face recognition, the recognition performance reduced by the external environmental factors such as illumination and facial pose. In order to compensate for these shortcomings of 2D face recognition, 3D face recognition. In the preprocessing part, according to the change of each position angle the obtained 3D face image shapes are changed into front image shapes through pose compensation. the depth data of face image shape by using Multiple Point Signature is extracted. Overall face depth information is obtained by using two or more reference points. The direct use of the extracted data an high-dimensional data leads to the deterioration of learning speed as well as recognition performance. We exploit principle component analysis(PCA) algorithm to conduct the dimension reduction of high-dimensional data. Parameter optimization is carried out with the aid of PSO for effective training and recognition. The proposed pattern classifier is experimented with and evaluated by using dataset obtained in IC & CI Lab.

  • The flow pattern inside the power condenser is generally known to be very complicated due to the phase change and turbulence effects as well as the effect of condenser geometry. In the present study, the flow pattern inside the power condenser was numerically simulated with a personal computer. The widely known CHAMPION 2/E/FIX(Concentration, Heat and Momentum Program Instruction Outfit, 2D/Elliptic/Fixed grid) computer code was modified for this purpose. The flow was asssumed to be two-dimensional and steady-state, and the tube bank was considered to be homogeneous porous medium. Simple turbulent diffusion coefficients based on the appropriate experiments were obtained for the computation. Through this analytical approach, the flow pattern could be predicted fairly well. The computational results also show that the location of the air vent plays an important key role in determining the efficiency of the condenser.

  • The purpose of this study is to extract and classify the general patterns on scientific and technological development by quantitative approaches. Indicators used for this pattern classification amounted to a total of 39. what is more, these indicators were set up with the recent data for the first half of the 1970's mainly, and 141 nations were selected as the sample of the analysis. 7 aspects which prescribe the scentific and technological activities were established, and so 3 patterns of the S & T development were extrected by means of a "two-dimensional cross section" among them. (1) A pattern showing the trend of the exponential curve from the point over a certain level (in this study, it is defined as "Threshold Valued"). (2) A pattern in which elasticity of the exponential curve is gradually reduced from the point over the threshold value. (3) A pattern not showing any trend, but forming a large variance.

  • The fluid static pressure has been generally measured by means of a small hole leading to a measuring instrument. In case of viscoelastic fluids, however, it has been shown experimentally that a systematic error exists in measuring the static pressure by means of the small hole becuase viscoelasitc fluids have many properties that can not be observed in Newtonian fluids. In this paper, in order to examine the mechanism of the errors in measuring the static pressure of viscoelasitc fluids, flow patterns in the vicinity of static pressure measuring hole were photographically taken and observed graphically. The experiments to take photographs of flow patterns were performed by a parallel plate channel with the steady two-dimensional shear flow of viscoelastic fluids. Results of the experiment are classified as following three regions; (1) Arched symmetrical flow pattern region. (2) Asymmetrical flow pattern region. (3) Rectilinear symmetricl flow pattern region.

  • In this paper, we propose a new algorithm that can enhance the speed of template matching of hand vascular pattern person verification or recognition system. Various template matching algorithms have advantages in the matching accuracy, but most of the algorithms suffer from computational burden. To reduce the computational amount, with accuracy maintained, we propose following template matching scenario as follows. firstly, original hand vascular image is re-sampled in order to reduce spatial resolution. Secondly, reconstructed image is projected to vertical and horizontal direction, being converted to two one dimensional (1D) data. Thirdly, converted data is used to estimate spatial discrepancy between stored template image and target image. Finally, matching begins from where the estimated order is highest, and finishes when matching decision function is computed to be over certain threshold. We've applied the proposed algorithm to hand vascular pattern identification application for biometrics, and observed dramatic matching speed enhancement. This paper presents detailed explanation of the proposed algorithm and evaluation results.

  • This paper prrsents shape matching of two-dimensional object. This shape matching is applied to two-dimensional simple c10sedcurves represented by polygons. A large number of shape matching procedures have proposed baseed on teh view that shape can be represented by a vector of numerical features, and that this representation can be matched using techniques from statical pattern recognition. The varieties of features that have been extracted from shapes and used to represent them are numerous. But all of these feature-based approches suffer from the shortcoming that the descriptor of a segment of a shape do not ordinarily bear any simple relations hip to the description for the entire shape. We solve the segment matching problem of shape matching, defined as the recognition of a piece of a shape as approximate match to a part of large shape, by using relaxation labeling technique.
