  • There are four kinds of diagnosis methods in oriental medicine, and viewing diagnosis(望診) is the most important method among them. There are two ways in viewing diagnosis. These are viewing shape(觀形) and inspecting color(察色). Viewing shape diagnosis includes observation on geometric curve that is made by prominence of bones or lump of flesh, and examination on symmetric disparity and balance of vertical length among three vertical section of face. Inspecting color is literally inspecting several specified region of face. By Viewing shape, we can learn about characteristic physical mechanism of individuals, and basic disposition of reaction from inside and outside infinite stimulations. On the other hand, by inspecting color, we can estimate the very present pathologic and physiologic status of the patient. the estimation is based on principle that inside body changes reveal some reflections on facial skin surface. When you diagnosis patients with inspecting color method, It is important to distinguish color delicately, and to know where to see and what to know from it. The most important and frequently mentioned regions are myong-dang(明堂), eyes(眼) and In-dang(印堂). Myong-dang(明堂) indicates nose. In-dang(印堂) indicates the space between eyebrows. Unlike myong-dang(印堂) and eyes, In-dang(印堂) is occasionally treated as a trivial region then others. But, from research on classical books of facial examination and consideration of it's locational meanings, we've learned In-dang(印堂) is very important in viewing diagnosis, because this region is crossing of the other two regions and this fact means this region expresses the spiritual status as well as physical status in one region.

  • Texts in natural images contain significant and detailed informations about the images. Thus, to extract those texts correctly, we suggest a text extraction method using color variance feature. Generally, the texts in images have color variations with the backgrounds. Thus, if we express those variations in 3 dimensional RGB color space, we can emphasize the text regions that can be hard to be captured with a method using intensity variations in the gray-level images. We can even make robust extraction results with the images contaminated by light variations. The color variations are measured by color variance in this paper. First, horizontal and vertical variance images are obtained independently, and we can fine that the text regions have high values of the variances in both directions. Then, the two images are logically ANDed to remove the non-text components with only one directional high variance. We have applied the proposed method to the multiple kinds of the natural images, and we confirmed that the proposed feature can help to find the text regions that can he missed with the following features - intensity variations in the gray-level images and/or color continuity in the color images.

  • We need to diversify the colors by natural dyeing for promotion and extention of the natural dyes market, because natural dyestuffs have the limitation the number of the colors to express, compare to synthetic dyestuffs. It was investigated that wool and silk fabrics could be dyed to green colors using natural mugwort and indigo as one of color diversification, in order to express green color that is difficult to be shown by natural dyeing. The mugwort dyebath was prepared to concentration of $25{\sim}100g/l$ using dried mugwort plant and indigo dyebath was prepared to concentration of $5{\sim}20g/l$ using natural indigo powder. Wool fabrics and silk fabrics were dyed to green(GY, G, BG in Munsell color wheel) by two batch methods using the mugwort and indigo dyebaths. the mugwort dyeing was applied at $80^{\circ}C$ for 20minutes and indigo dyeing applied for $5{\sim}7$ minutes in room temperature. The colorfastness to drycleaning and abrasion of the dyed fabrics were shown good as grade 4-5 or 5.

  • Background: The two basic methods that are currently accepted to identify the HER2 status are immunohistochemistry and flyorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). The aim of this study was to perform the dual-color silver in situ hybridization (dc-SISH) technique as an alternative to FISH. Materials and Methods: A total of 40 invasive breast carcinoma cases were assessed for HER2 gene amplification by FISH and dual-color SISH. Results: Significant correlation was found in the HER2 expression results obtained with the two approaches (p=0.001, p<0.05). The concordance rate was 92.3%. Conclusions: Foutine practical use of the dc-SISH method, which is much easier to apply, score, and evaluate, has many advantages. HER2 and CEN17 status can be evaluated simultaneously with the newly developed "Dual-Color Probe". All these specifications and the reliable results obtained support the widespread use of SISH technique in clinical practice.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust face tracking algorithm. It is based on Condensation algorithm [7] and uses skin color and facial shape as the observation measure. It is hard to integrate color weight and shape weight. So we propose the method that has two separate trackers which uses skin color and facial shape as the observation measure respectively. One tracker tracks skin colored region and the other tracks facial shape. We used importance sampling technique to limit sampling region of two trackers. For skin-colored region tracker, we propose an adaptive color model to avoid the effect of illumination change. The proposed face tracker performs robustly in clutter background and in the illumination changes.

  • Currently many devices reproduce electronic images in the various ways. However the color that is reproduced in any device is different from the original color due to the difference in the gamut between devices. In this paper, an image dependent gamut mapping method is proposed. This method clips the chroma with compensating for the change of lightness caused by the lightness scaling. The anchor point, which is the center point in the mapping, is set as a lower point by the proposed method than a point by the conventional mapping method. This reduces the color difference between point. In addition, to heighten the color contrast on the constant hue, the different two mapping methods are applied to the printer gamut which is divided in two region, bright region and dark region. Consequently, the printer output image was highly consistent with the corresponding monitor image.

  • Six types of ozone passive samplers were fabricated with three different filter substrates and two colorants, and tested for their feasibility on atmospheric monitoring. These passive samplers are based on a colorant which fades (indigo carmine and ChromAir (K&M environmental Inc.)) or produces color (mixture of 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone acetone azine and 2-phenylphenol colorant) upon reaction with ozone, whose concentration can be determined by reflectance measurement of the color change. Three filters, namely Whatman No.1 paper, SG81 chromatography paper and Silica Gel coated on polyester (TLC Plates), were prepared and coated with two colorants. The response of these passive samplers in ozone chamber were tested and compared with ChromAir (K&M environmental Inc.) passive sampler. The response of Silica Gel filter impregnated with indigo carmine was the best at the constant concentration exposure.

  • This paper presents a composite camera calibration method to determine thermal degradation of power distribution equipment by combining an infrared (IR) camera and a color camera. A calibration jig was first constructed to match the properties of the two cameras. Our calibration and visualization techniques allow for the display of two images, one from the color camera and the other from the IR camera with different field of views (FOVs), on the screen at the same time. To confirm its validity, several case studies have been developed to analyze thermal deterioration limits of indoor and outdoor power distribution facilities.

  • This study reflected sensitivity cognition in using color and evaluated the performance in task regarded GUI environment. Largely, three experiments were conducted. First, the searching time in text environment was compared with the searching time in color environment. Second, to know relationship of hue, saturation, lightness which are factors of color, and searching time, the searching time was measured using two-way ANOVA with interaction with three independent variables: hue, saturation, and distance. Third, sensitivity cognition about color was investigated and the performance of searching task was analyzed in the environment designed by color regarded sensitivity cognition. According to statistical results, the average searching time was decreased about 50.31% in color environment. The searching time was significant among the difference of hue and saturation. For the factor of color, the more the ratio of green and red was increased, the more searching time was decreased. The more the ratio of gray was increased, the more searching time was increased. And the searching time was developed in the environment designed by color regarded sensitivity. The purpose of this study is the presentation of sensitivity realization method and verification in the reflection and application of sensitivity to the industrial environment and design.

  • Proofing is one of the inspection operations of printing and can be considered a process control step. The three main kinds of proofs are press proofs, photomechanical proofs, and digital proofs. Photomechanical and digital proofs are also generally refered to as "off-press" proofs. Off-press color proofs are more economical than press proofs. Digital proofs offer fast production time along with a much lower cost per page. Hard-copy digital proofs can be output using thermal transfer printers, ink jet printers, and color laser copiers, as well as dye sublimation and electrophotographic technology. Ink jet method is commonly using because of the reasonal price. But ink jet system is difficult to reproduce an exact color proof. This research was carried out for the purpose of optimization of ink jet color proofing, using two kinds of ink jet printers with 6 colors (C, M, Y, K, mC, mM) and 4 colors (C, M, Y, K) system.
