Two Species of the Genus Bodotria (Cumacea, Bodotriidae) from Korea (한국産 참올챙이새우屬 (올챙이새우目, 참올챙이새우科) 의 2미기록종)

  • This study on Korean cumaceans was based on the specimens collected from K jedo I. and Chejudo I. in Korea. Two species in the Genus Bodotria (Bodotriidae) were identified: B. biplicata Gam , 1964 and B. carinata Gam , 1964. They are redescribed and illustrated as new records to Korean fauna. Especially, male of B. carinata is described at first on the basis of the specimen from Korean waters. As a result, Korean cumacean fauna consists of 10 species of five genera in three families.

  • In the ongoing survey of fungal diversity in Korea, two Ascomycetes species, namely Rhinocladiella similis and Toxicocladosporium irritans, were isolated in 2016. These species were identified based on the internal transcribed spacer region and morphological characteristics. This is the first report of these species in Korea, and the morphological characteristics and images of the fungi are presented.

  • Two species of apogonid fishes, Apogon endekataenia Bleeker and A. notatus Houttuyn, were recently collected from coastal water in Cheju Island, Korea. These species are redescribed and figured here as new to Korea. A key to nine species of the genus Apogon from Korea is presented.

  • Two species of small gobiid fishes genus Luciogobius, i.e., L. elongatus, L. platycephalus were described as the first records from Korea based on specimens collected from gravel beaches of Gijang-gun, Busan-si, Korea. Luciogobius elongatus is distinguished from congeners by very elongated and naked body, 42-44 vertebrae, 6-7 dorsal soft rays, and no free rays on pectoral fin, and L. platycephalus is characterized by having very depressed head, naked body, 40-41 vertebrae, 10-11 dorsal soft rays, and pectoral fin with only upper 2-4 free rays. We propose the new Korean name "Ga-neun-mi-kkeun-mang-dug", "Nab-jak-mi-kkeun-mang-dug" for L. elongatus and L. platycephalus, respectively.

  • This paper presents a new numerical algorithm for fault location estimation and for faults recognition based on the synchronized phasors. The proposed algorithm is based on the synchronized phasor measured from the synchronized PMUs installed at two-terminals of the transmission lines. In order to discriminate the fault type, the arc voltage wave shape is modeled numerically on the basis of a great number of arc voltage records obtained by transient recorder. From the calculated arc voltage amplitude it can make a decision whether the fault is permanent or transient. The results of the proposed algorithm testing through computer simulation are given.

  • Two species of the genus Ypsolopha Latreille are reported for the first time from Korea: Ypsolopha vittella (Linnaeus) and Y. nigrofasciata Yang. The diagnosis, description, distribution, host plants, adult photographs, and pictures of female genitalia are provided.

A Review of the Family Embolemidae (Hymenoptera: Chrysidoidea) from South Korea

  • Previously only one species, Embolemus ruddii Westwood, 1833, of the family Embolemidae has been recorded in South Korea. As part of a recent study of this family, we newly report four species from South Korea: Embolemus hachijoensis Hirashima et Yamagishi, 1975; E. krombeini Olmi, 1996; E. sensitivus Xu, Olmi et Guglielmino, 2012; Ampulicomorpha thauma Rasnitsyn et Matveev, 1989. The genus, Ampulicomorpha Ashmead, 1893, is recorded for the first time in South Korea. Embolemus ruddii was previously recorded from South Korea because considered synonym of E. walkeri. However, in recent years the two species were separated and E. ruddii was considered absent in the far east, where on the contrary E. walkeri is present. Therefore, five species in two genera are now recognized as the South Korean embolemid fauna. A key to the South Korean Embolemidae species is provided.

New Records of the Genus Isotomurus (Collembola: Isotomidae) from Korea

  • Two species of the genus Isotomurus $B{\ddot{o}}rner$ are newly recorded in Korea; I. bimus Christiansen and Bellinger, and I. plumosus Bagnall. These species are collected from salt marshes near West Sea of Korea. The Korean materials of I. bimus agreed well with the original description by Christiansen and Bellinger from North America, in its peculiar body pattern, with two long ciliated setae on tibiotarsus of hind leg, multisetaceous lateral flap of ventral tube and the presence of a mucronal lateral seta. Isotomurus plumosus is also easily identified from other Isotomurus species by the peculiar colour pattern, and the presence of long maxillary lamella 1 and a mucronal seta.

  • While surveying the diversity of fungi of the order Mucorales, two isolates, EML-PUKI12-1 and EML-PUKI06-1, were obtained from the gut of soldier fly larvae inhabiting the bulrush at a pond located in the Chonnam National University Arboretum, Gwangju, Korea. The isolates were confirmed as Mucor irregularis and Mucor fragilis species, respectively, based on the morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis of rDNA internal transcribed spacer region. Such mucoralean species belonging to undiscovered taxa has not previously been described in Korea.
