  • The thermal characteristics of the helium circulation by a cryocooler are presented. This study is motivated mainly by our recent development of a closed-loop cooling system for Cyclotron K120 superconducting magnets without any replenishment of the cryogen. A channel is attached on the outer surface of the magnet form and the liquid helium passes through inside of the channel in order to cool the super conducting coils indirectly. A two-stage cryocooler as a heat sink is located at the top to recondense helium coming from the superconducting magnet form. The heat transfer in the natural circulation loop is discussed and the main dimensions of cooling system are determined.

  • The claw pump, one of oil-less dry pumps developed to solve problems found in vacuum systems pumped by oil-sealed rotary pumps, has been widely used separately or as a part of compound structure with a roots pump. The claw pump has some merits such as a high pumping speed, a high compression ratio, and relatively little heat generation. The high compression ratio of the claw pump is compression ratio, and relatively little heat generation. The high compression ratio of the claw pump is based on efficient sweeping action of the special type rotor and an intrinsic self-valving mechanism. The contour of the rotor with claw-type blade is designed basically to make two rotors revolve smoothly without touching with each other, and related dimensions are determined by required pumping speed, compression ratio, power demand and diameter of the rotor axis. In this paper the procedure of designing the rotor of the claw pump is described and factors influencing the pump performance are analyzed.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide implications by conducting research on brand benefits for skiwear brand customers. For this purpose, a structural equation model was established and empirical research was conducted by selecting brand convenience as a hygiene variable and brand emotion, brand satisfaction, and repurchase intention as endogenous variables. In order to analyze the general characteristics of the subjects, frequency analysis was conducted using SPSS 25 and Cronbach's alpha analysis was conducted using the same statistical program. Confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis were conducted using AMOS 21. In addition, the benefits of skiwear brand, which is an independent variable, were composed of two sub-dimensions, and psychological benefits rather than functional benefits were found to have a stronger impact on brand emotion, suggesting practical implications.

  • This study examined the perceived contingent factors that affect South Korean citizens' image of the city they reside in. The respondents in this study perceived the image of their city through two dimensions--leading and safe--during the COVID-19 era. When respondents perceived the openness and expertise of the local government, the transformational and transactional leadership of the government leader, liberal political orientation of the leader, lower degree of law compliance of the mayor, high degree of citizenship, and high level of living infrastructure and competitiveness as attributes of the city, they were more likely to perceive the city as having a "leading" image. The perceived cultural characteristics of the local government, specifically the factor of hierarchy and regulation, the perceptions of citizenship, and all three variables regarding the perceptions related to city attributes (i.e., environmental, cultural, and living infrastructures and competitiveness) positively influenced the perception of a "safe" city image. Based on the results, various theoretical and practical implications were discussed in this study.

  • This research attempts to investigate differences in past experiences of using internet in repurchasing. In doing so, the authors identify online consumer characteristics, particularly one-time and repeat users comparison across geographical borders of Korean and Taiwanese teenage customers. Results show that there are significant differences in online shopping typologies between Korean and Taiwanese customers. While attitude serves as a distinguishing factor for both data sets along the other two dimensions, trust does not. Since researchers have focused on comparisons between Western cultures and Asian cultures' online purchase behavior or Internet use, the current study provides a valuable comparison for this niche population of young customers at least in a Korean-Taiwanese context. The authors also make a brief argument that these findings can influence marketing practitioners and site developers in their strategies.

  • Purpose This study aims to identify user experience factors that can enhance both metaverse utilization and satisfaction based on the honeycomb model. For this we presented two research questions: first, what are the experience factors of metaverse users? Second, do metaverse user experience factors impact satisfaction? Design/methodology/approach To address these questions, a mixed-methodology approach is employed, including text mining techniques to analyze online reviews and quantitative econometric analysis to reveal the relationship between user experience factors and satisfaction. A total of 69,880 reviews and ratings data were collected. Findings The analysis revealed eight metaverse user experience factors: entertainment, operability, virtual reality, immersion, economic activity, visual performance, avatar, and sociality, all of which were found to have a positive impact on user satisfaction.

  • The importance of ecosystem service such as green spaces has risen due to restrictions on outdoor activities amid the climate crisis and COVID-19. While gardens significantly impact economic development, quality of life, and social well-being, comprehensive studies on their multidimensional values are lacking. This research categorizes garden values into social, cultural, environmental, and health dimensions and proposes an integrated assessment framework that introduces detailed elements and evaluation methods. An empirical assessment of carbon storage index in two Korean gardens, Semiwon and Juknokwon, reveals Semiwon's higher carbon storage per unit area. The proposed framework, emphasizing a quantitative approach, enables cross-national and regional comparisons, contributing to a broader understanding and evaluation of garden values beyond specific facilities.

  • This study investigates the impact of standardized underground logistics conainers on lower body muscle activation during warehouse tasks, comparing conventional roll containers(A type) with newly developed ones(B type). Through a detailed experimental setup involving electromyography(EMG) and tensiomyography(TMG), muscle activities of the lower limbs were quantitatively analyzed during loading unloading and transporting tasks. Results indicated no significant difference in muscle activation patters between the two rolltainer types, suggesting that the dimensions of these containers do not critically affect the muscular strain and workload. Furthermore, the TMG analysis revealed that muscle contraction velocity(Vc) increased in certain muscles when using the B-type rolltainer, indicating a potential for more efficient muscle engagement without increasing fatigue. This research underscores the importance of ergonomic considerations in the design of logistics equipment and suggests that further studies should focus on optimizing the interaction between human operators and logistical systems to enhance safety and efficiency in warehouse operations.

  • This article explores how the use of technology along with carefully designed tasks can advance equity in the teaching of mathematics. Focusing on one of the dimensions of the EQTTech lesson analysis tool, this study examines how the use of technology can support the development of authority, identity, and agency in minoritized high school youth. A lesson on central tendency was designed and enacted in two 9th grade classrooms using GeoGebra and Padlet technologies. Student work and video recordings of the lesson were analyzed for student expressions of authority, identity and agency. These key constructs were intertwined in practice, and appear to be supported by the pairing of carefully selected tasks with technology chosen for its potential to advance equity.

  • Vowels are fundamental elements of spoken language, providing insights into linguistic patterns and phonological systems. This study examines vowel inventories from 913 languages in a database, analyzing their statistical distributions. It investigates unique vowels within each language category, focusing on the two major dimensions of vowel height and backness, including diphthongs. The results show that vowel phonemes without diacritics constitute 30% of all distinct vowel types but account for 64% of the total vowel phonemes, highlighting the dominance of primary vowel articulations. The most frequent vowels are /i/, followed by /u/, /a/, /o/, /e/, /ɛ/, and /ɔ/. Multidimensional scaling of vowels, with or without diacritics, reveals distinctive clusters and co-occurrence patterns, necessitating more detailed analysis. Future research should consider the establishment of linguistic criteria on vowel representation and incorporate actual speech data for comprehensive linguistic studies.
