  • In this paper, we introduce a class of maximal functions along twisted surfaces in ℝn×ℝm of the form {(𝜙(|v|)u, 𝜑(|u|)v) : (u, v) ∈ ℝn×ℝm}. We prove Lp bounds when the kernels lie in the space Lq (𝕊n-1×𝕊m-1). As a consequence, we establish the Lp boundedness for such class of operators provided that the kernels are in L log L(𝕊n-1×𝕊m-1) or in the Block spaces B0,0q (𝕊n-1×𝕊m-1) (q > 1).

  • In this paper, the viewing angle characteristics of amorphous (a) - twisted nematic (TN)-liquid crystal display (LCD) on poly(vinyl)cinnamate (PVC) surface with UV (ultraviolet) light irradiation were investigated. It was found that the threshold voltage increases with increasing the polymerization of PVC surfaces. We observed that the domain size of a-TN-LCD decreases with increasing the photo polymerization by increasing UV light irradiation time on PVC films. Also, we observed that the viewing angle of a-TN-LCD increased with increasing the photo polymerization on PVC surfaces. Finally, we consider that the viewing angle of a-TN-LCD on PVC surfaces is large compared to a-TN-LCD on polyimide (PI) surface.

  • We investigated the electro-optical (EO) performances of the super twisted nematic liquid crystal display (STN-LCD) on the polyimide (PI) surface using polymer film. Monodomain alignment of the plastic STN-LCD can be observed. A stable voltage-transmittance (V-T) curve of the plastic STN-LCD was observed on the polyimide (PI) surfaces using polymer film. Also, a faster response time for the plastic STN-LCD on the polyimide (PI) surfaces using polymer film can be achieved. Therefore, the EO performances of the plastic STN-LCD on the polyimide (PI) surfaces using polymer film is almost the same as that of the glass STN-LCD on a polyimide (PI) surface.

  • In this paper we investigated the electro-optical characteristics of amorphous (a)- twisted nematic (TN)-liquid crystal display(LCD) on polymide (PI) surfaces with different molecular structure. It was found that the domaine size of a-TN-LCD on PI with high polarization is small compared to a-TN-LCD on PI with medium polarization. It is considered that the response time of a-TN-LCd contributes to surface effect between the substrate surfaces and the LC molecules. Finally we obtained that the viewing angle of a-TN-LCD on PI surfaces increases with decreasing the domain size.

  • We investigated the electro-optical(EO) performances of the super twisted nematic liquid crystal display(STN-LCD) on the polyimide(PI) surface using polymer film. The NLC pretilt angles generated are about $18^{\circ}$ by the rubbing alignment method on thin plastic substrates. However, the pretilt angle are at about $13^{\circ}$ lower on the glass substrate than on thin plastic substrate. Monodomain alignment of the plastic STN-LCD can be observed. A stable voltage-transmittance(V-T) curve of the plastic STN-LCD was observed on the polyimide(PI) surfaces using polymer film. • The twisting and bending extrusion process is developed by the $DEFORM^TM$-3D. Because the rectangular section of the extruded product has the symmetry line of cross-section area, the twisting and the bending of extruded product has not occurred. The product with the rectangular section is applied to the twisting and bending extrusion process through the twisted die surface and eccentricity die section. It is shown that the twisting of extruded product is caused by the twisted die surfaces and the bending of extruded product is causd by the eccentricity between the die section. The results by the analysis show that the twisting angle and the curvature of extruded products increases by the die twisting angle, the eccentricity, but decreases by the die length, and friction condition

  • The experimental study on heat transfer characteristics of protruding heated block array as conducted to investigate and to compare the performance of impinging single circular jet in fully developed tube with a twisted tape as a swirl generator. The effects of jet Reynolds number(Re=8700, 13800, 20000. 26500), dimensionless jet-to-block distance(H/d=1. 3, 5. 7) and swirl number(S=0.11, 0.23, 0.30) of the swirl jet on the average Nusselt number for each block and all blocks have been examined. Measurements of heat transfer rate on block surfaces were used naphthalene sublimation technique. Mean velocity and turbulence intensity of the jet along the axis were measured. Potential core length of the jet was 5 times of nozzle diameter because it was fully developed and initially turbulent. With the twisted tape in the nozzle, heat transfer coefficients were higher than those without the twisted tape. which are mainly caused with increasing the jet Reynolds number and swirl number.

  • We solve the isoperimetric problem, the least-perimeter way to enclose a given area, on various Euclidean, spherical, and hyperbolic surfaces, sometimes with cusps or free boundary. On hyperbolic genus-two surfaces, Adams and Morgan characterized the four possible types of isoperimetric regions. We prove that all four types actually occur and that on every hyperbolic genus-two surface, one of the isoperimetric regions must be an annulus. In a planar annulus bounded by two circles, we show that the leastperimeter way to enclose a given area is an arc against the outer boundary or a pair of spokes. We generalize this result to spherical and hyperbolic surfaces bounded by circles, horocycles, and other constant-curvature curves. In one case the solution alternates back and forth between two types, a phenomenon we have yet to see in the literature. We also examine non-orientable surfaces such as spherical M$\ddot{o}$obius bands and hyperbolic twisted chimney spaces.
