Objectives: Using laborers participating in the petrochemical factory turnaround process as subjects, this study aims to identify exposure to benzene in the air and examine the relationship between exposure and the excretion of urinary metabolites by measuring concentrations of urinary trans, trans-muconic acid (t,t-MA). Methods: A passive sampler was used to measure the level of benzene in the air. In order to analyze urinary metabolites, the urine of laborers participating in the turnaround process was collected twice daily, both before and after work. In addition, a survey was conducted on work factors and lifestyle habits as factors affecting the concentration of urinary metabolites. Results: During the survey period, benzene was detected in the samples from all workers, and its average concentration was $0.16{\pm}0.22ppm$. The average concentration of t,t-MA after work was $1.20{\pm}1.86mg/g$ creatinine, and the results of analyzing urinary metabolites concentration before and after work showed statistically significant differences(p=0.003). There was also a statistically significant correlation (r=0.52, p=0.002) between benzene in the air and the concentration of after-work urinary t,t-MA. Conclusions: During the turnaround process, the average benzene concentration in workers was $0.16{\pm}0.22ppm$, which was below the exposure limit. However, their average t,t-MA concentration was $1.20{\pm}1.86mg/g$ creatinine, which exceeded the exposure limit of 1mg/g creatinine. The characteristics of turnaround process work require considerations such as underestimating the passive sampler being used and the skin absorption of benzene, and there needs to be a simultaneous assessment of working environment measurements and biological monitoring.

Shipping companies consider most of the ship turnaround time as a critical factor when selecting a rolling port for reducing costs. So, many researchers have been studying for the optimization of preplanning and high~performance of the Gantry Cranes (GCs) in container terminals for faster loading and unloading. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) based RTLS (Real-Time Location System) for reducing the ship turnaround time in ubiquitous port environment. In addition, pre-planning based on ubiquitous computing environment will support the GC and Yard Tractors (YTs), and reduce ship turnaround time more effectively. Especially, the proposed method enormously enhances the productivity of loading for the twin-lift system It will reduce the whole lead-time in the process of port logistics.

This study examines the effect that the prepaid trust has in saving the troubled business through the development of a formal system dynamics model. Building on existing case studies of corporate turnaround. we develop a mathematical model on the relationship between the prepaid trust and turnaround. With it. we build a system dynamics model in order to show how the prepaid trust can shift an organizational system from fragile condition of a firm to resilient condition of a firm. The model, which is oriented by attribution theory and problem-sharing by crisis communication. is developed in the aspect of the process from 'clouds' to 'evaporating clouds' This study offers a new characterization of the conditions under which organizations may be recovered the performance by prepaid trust through simulations of the model, and provides both theoretical insights into the corporate turnaround and practical suggestions for those charged with corporate turnaround.

Design is important in the IT, digital appliance, and auto industries. Aesthetic and art images are being applied for better quality of the products. Most image patterns are complex and much lead-time is required to implement them to the product design process. A precise reverse engineering method generating 2.5D engraving models from 2D artistic images is proposed through the image processing, NURBS interpolation and 2.5D reconstruction methods. To generate 2.5D TechArt models from the art images, boundary points of the images are extracted by using the adaptive median filter and the novel MBF (modified boundary follower) algorithm. Accurate NURBS interpolation of the points generates TechArt CAD models. Performance of the developed system has been confirmed through the quick turnaround 2.5D engraving simulation linked with the commercial CAD/CAM system.

In this paper, we proposed an efficient FPGA-based simulation acceleration method based on FPGA compilation avoidance, which can effectively decrease the long debugging turnaround time incurred from the every debugging process in the functional verification. The proposed method had been experimentally applied to the functional verification for a microcontroller design. It had clearly shown that the debugging turnaround time was greatly reduced while the high simulation speed of the simulation acceleration was still maintained.

The overhead of processing fine-grain tasks on a grid induces the need for batch processing or task group deployment in order to minimise overall application turnaround time. When deciding the granularity of a batch, the processing requirements of each task should be considered as well as the utilisation constraints of the interconnecting network and the designated resources. However, the dynamic nature of a grid requires the batch size to be adaptable to the latest grid status. In this paper, we describe the policies and the specific techniques involved in the batch resizing process. We explain the nuts and bolts of these techniques in order to maximise the resulting benefits of batch processing. We conduct experiments to determine the nature of the policies and techniques in response to a real grid environment. The techniques are further investigated to highlight the important parameters for obtaining the appropriate task granularity for a grid resource.

Objectives: The level of benzene exposure in the petrochemical industry during regular operation has been well established, but not in turnaround (TA), where high exposure may occur. In this study, the characteristics of occupational exposure to benzene during TA in the petrochemical companies were investigated in order to determine the best management strategies and improve the working environment. This was accomplished by evaluating the exposure level for the workers working in environments where benzene was being produced or used as an ingredient during the unit process. Methods: From 2003 to 2008, a total of 705 workers in three petrochemical companies in Korea were studied. Long- and short-term (< 1 hr) samples were taken during TAs. TA was classified into three stages: shut-down, maintenance and start-up. All works were classified into 12 occupation categories. Results: The long-term geometric mean (GM) benzene exposure level was 0.025 (5.82) ppm (0.005-42.120 ppm) and the short-term exposure concentration during TA was 0.020 (17.42) ppm (0.005-61.855 ppm). The proportions of TA samples exceeding the time-weighted average, occupational exposure level (TWA-OEL in Korea, 1 ppm) and the short-term exposure limit (STEL-OEL, 5 ppm) were 4.1% (20 samples of 488) and 6.0% (13 samples of 217), respectively. The results for the benzene exposure levels and the rates of exceeding the OEL were both statistically significant (p < 0.05). Among the 12 job categories of petrochemical workers, mechanical engineers, plumbers, welders, fieldman and scaffolding workers exhibited long-term samples that exceeded the OEL of benzene, and the rate of exceeding the OEL was statistically significant for the first two occupations (p < 0.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that the periodic work environment must be assessed during non-routine works such as TA.

Recently, the trend in the printing industry includes shorter run lengths and with fast turnaround times. As new markets have made it possible to produce small quantities of high-quality color products at affordable price, the general commercial printing meets the customer's diverse demand by using spot color besides process four colors. Especially, by using spot color for printing the enterprise's logo or specific color, we can see the effect of printing is getting better. With the combination of the right software, ink, media, and device can be treated as a digital proofer for spot color printing, providing significant time and cost savings compared to conventional procedures. The objective of this study is to investigate the quality of spot color proofs printed by ink-jet and dye sublimation proofer using ICC-based color management system. An Epson Stylus Color 3000 ink-jet proofer combined with Best Color Proof XXL RIP was tested for glossy and matte paper. 3M Rainbow dye sublimation proofer was examined using 3M Rainbow controller ver. 4.1 RIP on the manufacturer recommended proofing paper. ICC profiles were generated for each device using ECI 2002 visual target and evaluated for the accuracy of process 4 color reproduction. The test charts consisting of Pantone color 1140 was selected to test the quality of spot color reproduction.

CPU is considered the main and most important resource in the computer system. The CPU scheduling is defined as a procedure that determines which process will enter the CPU to be executed, and another process will be waiting for its turn to be performed. CPU management scheduling algorithms are the major service in the operating systems that fulfill the maximum utilization of the CPU. This article aims to review the studies on the CPU scheduling algorithms towards comparing which is the best algorithm. After we conducted a review of the Round Robin, Shortest Job First, First Come First Served, and Priority algorithms, we found that several researchers have suggested various ways to improve CPU optimization criteria through different algorithms to improve the waiting time, response time, and turnaround time but there is no algorithm is better in all criteria.

Silica fume is a common addition to high performance concrete mix designs. The use of silica fume in concrete leads to increased water demand. For this reason, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) allows only a 72-hour continuous moist cure process for concrete containing silica fume. Accelerated curing has been shown to be effective in producing high-performance characteristics at early ages in silica-fume concrete. However, the heat greatly increases the moisture loss from exposed surfaces, which may cause shrinkage problems. An experimental study was undertaken to determine the feasibility of steam curing of FDOT concrete with silica fume in order to reduce precast turnaround time. Various steam curing durations were utilized with full-scale precast prestressed pile specimens. The concrete compressive strength and shrinkage were determined for various durations of steam curing. Results indicate that steam cured silica fume concrete met all FDOT requirements for the 12, 18 and 24 hours of curing periods. No shrinkage cracking was observed in any samples up to one year age. It was recommended that FDOT allow the 12 hour steam curing for concrete with silica fume.
