  • This stud demonstrates the profiles of heavy ions (As, Sb) in silicon by high energy (1~10 MeV) implantation. Implanted profiles were measured by SIMS (Cameca 4f) and compared with simulation results (TRIM) program and analytical description method using Pearson function). The experimental results have a little bit deviation with simulation data in the case of As high energy implatation. But in the case of Sb, the experimental results are in good agreement with TRIM data. SIMS profiles are perfectly fitted with a analytical description method only using one pearson function in Sb implantation. but in the case of As, fitted profilesshow with a little bit deviations by channeling effects of SIMS profiles. Thermal annealing for electrical activation of implanted ions was carried out by furnace annealing and RTA(Rapid Thermal Annealing). Concentration-depth profile after heat treatement were measured by SR(Spreading Resistance) method.

  • This study focuses on the potential flow analysis for a hull with the transom stern. The method is based on a low order panel method. The Kelvin type free-surface boundary condition which is known to better fit experimental data for a high speed is applied. To treat a dry transom stern effect a special treatment for the free-surface boundary condition is adopted at the free-surface region after the transom stern. Trim and sinkage, which are important in high speed ships, are considered by an iterative method. Pressure and momentum approaches are used to calculate the wave resistance. Numerical calculations are performed for Athena hull and these results are compared with the experimental data and also other computational results.

  • In the design of high speed fishing vessel, its hull form has to be decided from a view point of resistance and propulsion performance without negelction of seakeeping characteristics. In spite of many efforts, the performance improvement by hull form itself has its limitations, specially for high speed craft. In this paper, the development of performance of resistance and seakeeping improving appendage for high speed planing hull on behalft of the hull form of fishing vessel has been introduced. The developed appendage verified its effectiveness in the full scale test.

  • An experimental study carried out to predict the performance characteristics of a high speed planing boat at the two displacements whose hull form shows hard chines form transom to bow. In the resistance test the planing hull model was porpoising at and above 30 knots for both displacements of 30 tons and 24 tons. A small stern wedge was newly designed and attached across hull bottom. The planing hull model with the stern sedge did not show any porpoising up to the speed of 45 knots for both displacements and it analysed results shows the improvement of resistance performance and planing performance comparing with those of original hull form; i.e. for displacement of 30 tons the effective power and trim angle were reduced by 18.9% and 5.71 degrees at the speed of 28 knots, and for the displacement of 24 tons the effective power and trim angle were reduced by 23.63% and 4.37 degrees at the speed of 28 knots, respectively.

  • A Series 60, $C_b=0.60$ model was tested in the towing tank of Seoul National University. Total resistance, hull attitude, wake distributions and wave measured at FR condition(free trim and sinkage) and FX condition(fixed trim and sinkage). From the measured data, residual, viscous and wave pattern resistance components were evaluated and compared. It is found that the changes in wetted surface area should be considered in predictions of frictional resistances, and can be easily found from hydrostatic data and measured mean sinkages without additional tests. Applications of the concept to the geosim tests of Series 60, Wigley, Lucy Ashton models show that the conventional extrapolation method can be improved considerably.

  • The implementation of a robust $H_{\infty}$ Control, which is numerically efficient for uncertain nonlinear dynamics, on longitudinal and lateral autopilots is realised for a quarter scale Piper J3-Cub model accepted as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) under the condition of sensor noise and disturbance effects. The stability and control coefficients of the UAV are evaluated through XFLR5 software, which utilises a vortex lattice method at a predefined flight condition. After that, the longitudinal trim point is computed, and the linearization process is performed at this trim point. The "${\mu}$-Synthesis"-based robust $H_{\infty}$ control algorithm for roll, pitch and yaw displacement autopilots are developed for both longitudinal and lateral linearised nonlinear dynamics. Controller performances, closed-loop frequency responses, nominal and perturbed system responses are obtained under the conditions of disturbance and sensor noise. The simulation results indicate that the proposed control scheme achieves robust performance and guarantees stability under exogenous disturbance and measurement noise effects and model uncertainty.

  • A Quad Tilt Wing UAV is a new concept hybrid UAV having the advantages of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. This paper presents longitudinal flight dynamic characteristics of a Quad Tilt Wing UAV. The designed Quad Tilt Wing UAV is a configuration of a tandem wing type aircraft with an actuating motor and propeller mounted at each wing. Momentum theory is used to calculate the thrust, and nonlinear modeling is performed considering lift and drag generated by slip stream effect of propellers. Also, Force and moment variation at each tilting angle is considered. Static trim on longitudinal axis is analyzed via numerical simulation. Componentwise force contribution was analyzed at each trim mode. Dynamic characteristics were evaluated through eigenvalue analysis for a linear model at each flight mode. It is verified that longitudinal dynamic characteristics are changing from unstable to stable state by continuous transition of dominant poles.

  • Porphyromonas (P.) gingivalis lipopolysaccharide (Pg LPS) is the major pathogenic component of periodontal disease. In this study, we have attempted to determine the expression profiles of the signal transduction pathway genes induced by Pg LPS in comparison with Escherichia (E.) coli LPS (Ec LPS). DC2.4 cells were treated for two hours with $1\;{\mu}g/ml$ of Pg LPS or $0.5\;{\mu}g/ml$ of Ec LPS. The total RNA from these cells was then isolated and reverse-transcribed. Gene expression profiles were then analyzed with a signal transduction pathway finder GEArray Q series kit and significant changes in expression were confirmed by real-time PCR. The microarray results indicated that several genes, including Tnfrsf10b, Vcam1, Scyb9, Trim25, Klk6, and Stra6 were upregulated in the DC2.4 cells in response to Pg LPS treatment, but were downregulated or unaffected by Ec LPS. Realtime PCR revealed that the expression of Trim25, Scyb9 and Tnfrsf10b was increased over the untreated control. Notably, Trim25 and Tnfrsf10b were more strongly induced by Pg LPS than by Ec LPS. These results provide greater insight into the signal transduction pathways that are altered by P. gingivalis LPS.
