Analysis of Time-Area Curve Effects on Watershed Runoff (시간-면적곡선의 유역유출해석 영향분석)

  • The objectives of this study are to analyze the effects of time-area curve on Clark's watershed runoff method in addition to propose a GIS-based objective method for creating time-area curve. For the relative comparison of the variation of time-area curve to those of travel time and storage coefficient of Clark method, runoff sensitivities are performed on Soyang- and Chungju-dam watersheds for 1990. 9. 10~9. 14 event. The dimensionless time-area curve in HEC-1 that can be utilized in the case that the curve is not supplied is also tested in this study. The important results obtained in this study are as follows: The effects of time-area curve created by either GIS-based objective method or dimensionless curve are not significant for runoff analysis; The storage coefficient (K) and travel time( t$_{c}$), Clark's other two model parameters, are more sensitive than time-area curve for peak flow simulation. Therefore, it can be concluded that the parameters K and t$_{c}$ are more carefully estimated rather than time-area curve, when Clark method is used for runoff analysis.

A Study on Spatial Therapy through Spatial Psychology (공간 심리학을 통한 공간치유 연구)

  • This study aims to propose a method of spatial therapy through spatial psychology in various ways of healing for emotional damage received by individuals. It is intended to prove the effectiveness and specify the method through instructional cases of spatial therapy for general university students. The method of spatial therapy was designed as a preliminary question(past)-space exploration (present)-travel plan(future). In the preliminary question, the students remembered the happy trip with their family and the pleasant memories with a person for the longest time. In the space exploration, the places the students visited were all different, but they were fully satisfied and happy about the place they had been to. The students fully remembered and expressed their feelings about the person they were with and the place. In their travel plans, students were fully prepared for the trip and looking forward to various therapy emotions they wanted to feel there. Most of the students said they wanted to find peace of mind through travel, feel peaceful feelings, and enjoy a beautiful world. Travel for spatial therapy or visiting certain places gives those who are tired and struggling enough therapy power.

Factors Influencing Commuting Time to Work for the Simple Linkage Travel (단순연계 출근통행시간에 미치는 요인분석)

  • This study investigates the factor that influences commuting time to work when individuals allocate their time for different types of activities. The commuting time is an important indicator for an individual to determine the residence and choose the means of transportation. The analysis uses the data collected from people who live in Seoul metropolitan area including Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi Province, and commute to work and making the simple linkage travel (home-work-home) within the area. For the analysis, the Cox hazard proportional methodology was adopted. The method is known to be well applied without assuming any distribution in case of the dependent variable being continuous. For the covariate, the interaction effect between the space variable of the work place and the variable of transportation has been also included in the model. The commuting time to work has been estimated for both 1) the whole metropolitan area and 2) the separate regions i.e., Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi-Do. The result reveals that characteristic variables related to individual, household and travel properties influence the mode of transportation and the time allocated for commuting to work (p<0.01). This study also demonstrates the usefulness of the Cox hazard proportional model. The data used in this study is the actual household travel data surveyed in 2006 in the metropolitan area, and analyzing the survey data in 2010 is currently in progress. Comparison of the two survey data sets seeking any behavioral change is suggested for the future study.

A Comparative Study on Factors Affecting Satisfaction by Travel Purpose for Urban Demand Response Transport Service: Focusing on Sejong Shucle (도심형 수요응답 교통서비스의 통행목적별 만족도 영향요인 비교연구: 세종특별자치시 셔클(Shucle)을 중심으로)

  • In this study, the differences in user satisfaction and the variables influencing the satisfaction with demand response transport (DRT) by travel purpose were compared. The purpose of DRT travel was divided into commuting/school and shopping/leisure travel. A survey conducted on 'Shucle' users in Sejong City was used for the analysis and the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression analysis was applied to minimize the overfitting problems of the multilinear model. The results of the analysis confirmed the possibility that the introduction of the DRT service could eliminate the blind spot in the existing public transportation, reduce the use of private cars, encourage low-carbon and public transportation revitalization policies, and provide optimal transportation services to people who exhibit intermittent travel behaviors (e.g., elderly people, housewives, etc.). In addition, factors such as the waiting time after calling a DRT, travel time after boarding the DRT, convenience of using the DRT app, punctuality of expected departure/arrival time, and location of pickup and drop-off points were the common factors that positively influenced the satisfaction of users of the DRT services during their commuting/school and shopping/leisure travel. Meanwhile, the method of transfer to other transport modes was found to affect satisfaction only in the case of commuting/school travel, but not in the case of shopping/leisure travel. To activate the DRT service, it is necessary to consider the five influencing factors analyzed above. In addition, the differentiating factors between commuting/school and shopping/leisure travel were also identified. In the case of commuting/school travel, people value time and consider it to be important, so it is necessary to promote the convenience of transfer to other transport modes to reduce the total travel time. Regarding shopping/leisure travel, it is necessary to consider ways to create a facility that allows users to easily and conveniently designate the location of the pickup and drop-off point.

Prediction and development on technics of landslide prospecting by seismic refraction(PS-1) (소형 탄성파탐사기(PS-1)을 이용한 산사태예지기술개발)

  • This study was carried to find out the soil characteristics of landslide site and to develope landslide prediction method by seismic refraction prospecting. For these aims, landslide condition and travel time were investigated at 68 Landslide sites over the country during 1990 to 1991. The results were as follows. 1. The surface of rupture was included mainly in C layer. Its Hardness was less than 3kg / $\textrm{cm}^2$ at the upper pare of landslide. 2. When the profile line length was 20m, the range of travel time was 40 to 90 msec. The travel time did not differ between bedrocks. 3. Refraction distance ranged from 1 to 7m and mean of that was 2.5m. Travel time was increased according to receiving distance without large variance in the refraction distance but that was appeared large variance out of the refraction distance on slope that has shallow soil depth and discontinuous ground surface. Therefore, the spread distance must be shorten to 10-l5m. 4. The seismic velocity at the first layer(layer of rupture) was less than 500m1sec by degree of weathering and the velocity at the second layer decreased in order of Granite> Granitic gneiss >Sedimentary rock. 5. The first layer observed by seismic refraction was contained C layer that has parent material and weathered rocks of hardness 10-20kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$. 6. Among the range of seismic velocity was less than 200m/sec in 63% of the total plots, 200-300m/sec in 34% and 300-500m /sec in 3%. 7. There was a proportional relationship between seismic prospecting soil depth and executive soil depth, and seismic propection soil depth was about 10 to 20cm deeper than the order.

Arrangement of Disposal Holes According to the Features of Groundwater Flow (지하수 유동 특성을 이용한 심층처분의 처분공 배치 방안)

  • Based on the results of groundwater flow system modeling for a hypothetical deep geological repository site, quantitative and spatial distributions of groundwater flow rates at the positions of deposition holes, groundwater travel length and time from the positions to the surface environment were analyzed and used to suggest a method for determining locations of deposition holes. The hydraulic head values at the depth of the deposition holes and a particle tracking method were used to calculate the ground-water flow rates and groundwater travel length and time, respectively. From the results, an approach to designing a layout of deposition holes was suggested by selecting relatively favorable positions for maintaining performance of the disposal facility and screening some positions of deposition holes that did not comply with specific constraints for the groundwater flow rates, travel length and time. In addition, a method for determining a geometrical direction for extension of the disposal facility was discussed. Designing the layout of deposition holes with the information of groundwater flow at the disposal depth can contribute to secure performance and safety of the disposal facility.

  • A numerical modelling method using a backward-in-time advection dispersion equation is introduced in assessing the vulnerability of groundwater to contaminants as an alternative to classical vulnerability mapping methods. The flux and resident concentration measurements are normalized by the total contaminants mass released to the system to provide the travel time probability density function and the location probability function. With the results one can predict the expected travel time of a contaminant from up stream location to a well and also the relative concentration of the contaminant at a well. More specific groundwater vulnerability can be mapped by these predicted measurements.

Comparison of Driving Time between Stop-motion Method and Moving-motion Method

  • Improvement of the speed of the gantry among equipment that mounts a chip using SMT can improve productivity. In order to improve the performance of the gantry, there are studies such as a method of increasing the speed of adsorption, the speed of the gantry by reducing the weight, and a method of facilitating the use of the gantry. But all of these are ways of improving equipment. In this paper, we propose a method to improve the speed of gantry mounting microchip. The method is to shorten the driving time of the gantry. To do this, calculate the driving time using the existing method. And we calculate the travel time using the method presented in this paper. As a result, the time calculated by the proposed method is reduced by 14%.

  • Even thought the firefighters have to hurry to the scene to extinguish the blaze, the fire engines could not rushed out due to the worst of traffic condition. Traffic signal control is one of the most important methods to minimize the fire engines's travel time. The focus of this paper is to develop a traffic control strategy, which is emergency vehicle preemption algorithm considering pedestrian in order to reduce travel time of emergency vehicle. This algorithm also includes recovering strategy after preemption signal to minimize the other vehicle's delay. In order to estimate the effectiveness of traffic control, traffic simulation was performed using VISSIM micro simulation tool for two different kinds of networks, which were non-coordinated corridor and coordinated corridor. The differences of travel time and average delay between emergency vehicle and ordinary vehicle were respectively estimated under pre-existed pretimed signal and preemption traffic control at two respective networks. The results of the simulation for the emergency vehicle, travel time was reduced to 36.8~43.3% under "Add or Subtract" method whereas it was reduced to 30.7~46.0% under "Dwell" method. In addition, in non-coordinated corridor case of ordinary vehicle, average control delay of "Dwell" method was increased 33.5% whereas it grew 0.5% under coordinated corridor. And "Add or Subtract" method was confirmed that average control delay of ordinary vehicle was increased 0.7% under non-coordinated corridor whereas it swelled 4.5% under coordinated corridor.

Analysis of Diversion Demands for the Rapid Railway (급행철도 도입에 따른 전환수요 분석)

  • A diversity of railway network function enhancement projects such as the double tracking, electrification, and direct operation have been actively executed to improve the railway service. When the new rapid railway is provided, how many people will use it instead of other transports? How will the railway choice behavior be changed? Accordingly, in this paper, the applicability of diverted travel demand forecast method by Stated Preference(SP) and Transfer Price(TP) data was reviewed for Daegu metropolitan railway service. As the result of implementing the Revealed Preference(RP) and RP+SP model, the total travel time and travel cost parameters are of the right sign and are highly significant. In particular, when TP data is used as the complementary investigation of SP, the boundary value of diverted travel demand can be easily identified by railway fare and travel time service level. Therefore, it is considered that this will practically apply even in other regions as well as Daegu metropolitan railway.
