  • This paper described the calculation results of lightning flashover rate on the 345kV and 154kV transmission system of KEPCO. The back-flashover rate and shielding failure rate was calculated by FLASH(lightning flashover rate calculation program from IEEE) and KEPRI's own program which is based on the EGM(Electro Geometrical Model) method. The estimated lightning flashover late of 345kV transmission system of double circuit was 1.0 flash per 100km-year, and the lightning flashover rate of 154kV transmission line was 2.0 flash Per 100km-year approximately.

  • Cooperative relaying methods have attracted a lot of interest in the past few years. A conventional cooperative relaying scheme has a source, a destination, and a single relay. This cooperative scheme can support one symbol transmission per time slot, and is caned full rate transmission. However, existing fun rate cooperative relay approaches provide asymmetrical gain for different transmitted symbols. In this paper, we propose a cooperative relaying scheme that is assisted with dual relays and provides full transmission rate with the same macro-diversity to each symbol. We also address equalization for the dual relay transmission system in addition to addressing the issues concerning the improvement of system performance in terms of optimal power allocations.

  • In this paper, we propose efficient peer assignment algorithms for low-latency transmission of scalable coded images in peer-to-peer networks, in which peers may dynamically join and leave the networks. The objective of our algorithm is to minimize the transmission time of a requested image that is scalable coded. When an image is scalable coded in different bit rates, the bit stream encoded in a lower bit rate is a prefix subset of the one encoded in a higher bit rate. Therefore, a peer with the same requested image coded in any bit rate, even when it is different from the requested rate, may work as a supplying peer. As a result, when a scalable coded image is requested, more supplying peers can be found in peer-to-peer networks to help with the transfer. However, the set of supplying peers is not static during transmission, as the peers in this set may leave the network or finish their transmission at different times. The proposed peer assignment algorithms have taken into account the above constraints. In this paper, we first prove the existence of an optimal peer assignment solution for a simple identity permutation function, and then formulate peer assignment with this identity permutation as a mixed-integer programming problem. Next, we discuss how to address the problem of dynamic peer departures during image transmission. Finally, we carry out experiments to evaluate the performance of proposed peer assignment algorithms.

  • This paper proposes a neural network prediction model to improve the valid packet transmission rate for the QoS(Quality of Service) of multimedia transmission. The Round Trip Time(RTT) and Packet Loss Rate(PLR) are predicted using a neural network and then the transmission rate is decided based on the predicted RTT and the PLR. The suggested method will improve the transmission rate since it uses the rate control factors corresponding to time of data is being transmitted, while the conventional one uses the transmission rate determined based on the past informations. An experimental set-up has been established using a Linux PC system, and the multimedia data are transmitted using UDP protocol in real time. The valid transmitted packets are about 5% higher than the one in the conventional TCP-Friendly congestion control method when the suggested algorithm was applied.

  • A series of experiments were conducted from 1968 to 1970 to find the transmission effects of the dwarf disease of mulberry tree in connection with inlay grafting and insect vector with the following conclusions: 1. The inlay-grafting of sound scions on diseased roots showed a 30 per cent transmission rate among the successful grafts. The inlay-grafting of diseased scions on sound roots showed a 14 per cent transmission rate among the successful grafts ir the case of scions cut and stored before wintering but no transmission effect in the case of scions prepared after wintering, There were some stocks, among the unsuccesful grasfts of diseased scions upon sound roots, that sprouted out new buds, no transmission effects were found in them, 2. Leafhoppers (Hishimonus disciguttus Walker) collected from areas with no dwarf disease infection were grouped into three plots and let to feed on mulberry tree severely infected by dwarf disease for 7 days, 14 days and 21 days respectively. After these preliminary treatment, the leafhoppers were recollected to be fed on the sound seedling divided into three plots for 10 days, 15 days and 20 days respectively to find the transmission effects. The results are that the 7 day plot showed no transmission effect whereas the 14 day plot showed a 22 per cent disease rate and the 21 day plot 61 per cent rate indicating that the longer the feeding period is the higher the transmission rate.

  • As a class of block codes, LDPC code with any desired code rate and code length is easily constructed. In OFDM system high data transmission is possible, In this paper, we examined the performance of four high-rate(0.75, 0.8, 0.889, 09412) LDPC coded OFDM in image transmission over Rayleigh fading channel. The high-rate of 0.9412 LDPC coded OFDM system obtained about 12dB gain over the OFDM at BER of $10^{-3}$ over Rayleigh fading channel. Also, the PSNR of code rate 0.9412 LDPC coded OFDM system at SNR=10dB is given by 18.8047dB where uncoded OFDM system gives 9.7303 dB.

  • Smoothing is a transmission plan that converts video data stored at a variable bit rate into a fixed bit rate. Algorithms for smoothing include CBA, which aims to minimize the number of transmission rate increases, MCBA, which minimizes the number of transmission rate changes, and MVBA algorithms that minimize the amount of transmission rate change. This paper compares the proposed algorithm with the CBA algorithm with various video data, buffer size, and performance evaluation factors as a follow-up to the proposed smoothing algorithm that minimizes (maximizes) the transmission rate increase (decrease) when the server requires more bandwidth The evaluation factors used were compared with the number of changes in the fps rate, the minimum fps, the average fps, fps variability, and the number of frames to be discarded. As a result of the comparison, the proposed algorithm showed superiority in comparing the number of fps rate changes and the number of frames discarded.

  • In this paper, we propose an optimal multi-hop transmission scheme to maximize the end-to-end data rate from the source to the destination node in a wireless powered communication network. The frame structure for multi-hop transmission is presented to transmit multi-hop data while harvesting energy. Then, the transmission time of each node that maximizes the end-to-end transmission rate is determined through mathematical analysis in consideration of different harvested energy and link quality among nodes. We derive an optimization problem through system modeling of the considered wireless powered multi-hop transmission, and prove that there is a global optimal solution by verifying the convexity of this optimization problem. This analysis facilitates to find the optimal solution of the considered optimization problem. The proposed optimal multi-hop transmission scheme maximizes the end-to-end rate by allocating the transmission time for each node that equalizes the transmission rates of all links.

  • To facilitate their spread, plant viruses have developed several methods for dispersal including insect and seed transmission. While insect transmission requires virus stability against insect digestion, seed-transmitted viruses have to overcome barriers to entry into embryos. Bean pod mottle virus (BPMV) is transmitted through seed at levels typically below 0.1%, but co-infection with Soybean mosaic virus (SMV) enhanced the seed transmission rate of BPMV in one experiment. In contrast, the rate of SMV seed transmission was not affected by BPMV co-infection. In a second preliminary study, the rate of SMV transmission was lower in an isoline of Williams 82 that contained a null mutation for the Kunitz trypsin inhibitor gene than in Williams 82. In this preliminary study, we observed that factors such as protease inhibitor expression and dual infection may affect the frequency of seed transmission of BPMV and SMV.

  • In recent years, decentralized power have been increasing due to environmental problems, liberalization of electricity markets and technological developments. These changes have led to the evolution of power generation, transmission, and distribution into discrete sectors and the division of integrated power systems. Therefore, studies are underway to efficiently supply power and reduce losses to each sector's demand. This is a major concern for system planners and operators, as it accounts for a relatively high proportion of total power, with a transmission and distribution loss of 4-6%. Therefore, this paper analyzes the status of loss management based on the current transmission and distribution loss rate of each country and transmission loss management cases of each national power company, and proposes a loss rate prediction algorithm according to the long-term transmission system plan. The proposed algorithm predicts the demand-based long-term evolution and the loss rate of the grid to which the transmission plan is applied.
