  • The surface intensity method is a relatively new tool which can identify the noise source or path and measure the radiation power. One microphone and one accelerometer are used in this new technique. In this study, this new technique has been used to measure the field transmission loss trough doors. The results of the experiment indicate that the surface intensity method produces reliable data and can be applied to the transmission loss measurement.

  • In this paper, we describe the analysis of interior noise for tilting train that is being developed in Korea. Tilting train is made of composite material to reduce the car body's weight and attached a self-steering system on bogie to improve curving performance. However, the acoustic performance (Transmission Loss) of such material is worse than the materials of conventional train, such as aluminum, steel and so on. Therefore, we measure the transmission loss of side wall / floor of tiling train and predict the interior noise for tilting train using its measuring results

  • A method of measuring the transmission loss of silencer using two microphone technique is described. Two microphone methol is used to elliminate the measurement error due to reflected wave spectra in inlet/outlet duct of silencer. Errors associated with the measurement method are studied. Henceforth the methods to effectively supress the influence are presented. Based on these considertions, the appropriate procedure of experimental set-up to measure the transmission loss a silencer is described with experimental verifications.

  • This paper presents the feasibility of the assumption that incident sound to panels might have a Gaussian distribution, instead of the well-known uniform distribution in the analysis of sound transmission loss of panels. Being compared with the latter, it seems that the former is physically more concrete. To prove the assumption, the problems with diffuse fields in reverberation room are considered by case study and comparisions of the prediction with the measurement of sound transmission loss of walls are performed. The results show good agreement between the two values.

  • The four-terminal transmission matrix method has been widely used to estimate the insertion-loss. However, the predictins using the equations in the four-terminal transmission matrix method do not reflect a practical phenomenon accurately, In this paper, the correction method to derive the insertion-loss for a constant sound pressure source is presented. The method of correction to the four-terminal transmission matrix method was proposed by rewriting the real and imaginary parts as they depend solely on the flow velocity. Then the result was compensated for by adding the component of the temperature gradient.

  • Design target values of transmission loss in a high-speed train wall are suggested by calculating the difference between interior and exterior noise levels of it. Exterior noise level distribution on the boundary of train wall is calculated by Sysnoise, with sound source input prepared by experiments. Two kinds of exterior sound sources are considered, the rolling noise of train wheels on the rail and the aerodynamic noise from the pantograph. Interior noise level is provided by high-speed design target. Transmission loss characteristics according to the frequency band are examined.

  • Sound insulation performance is investigated on the corrugated panel used for a rail way vehicle. Random incidence sound transmission loss is calculated by using the equivalent orthotropic plate model. Analysis results on several kinds of corrugated panels are in good agreement with the measured data. The analysis method is applied to predict the sound transmission loss of the corrugated panel used for Korean high speed train.

  • 다중-광선 모델을 이용하여 경사면을 갖는 반-협곡 구조에서 전파 전송 손실을 해석하고 경사면의 각도에 따라 나타나는 다중-광선 전파 모델을 공식화 하였다. 경사면의 기울어진 각도에 의해 결정되는 송수신 전파의 경사면 반사경로인 제3경로와 제4경로에 대한 차단 각도를 송수신 단말의 높이와 위치를 가지고 계산하였다. 경사면 환경에서 전파 전송 손실을 예측하기 위하여 실제 경사면이 존재하는 제방 환경을 선택하여 모델링하고 시뮬레이션 하여 전파 전송 손실을 계산하였으며, 주파수 1-6GHz 대역에 대한 측정활동을 통해 전파전송 손실을 확인하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과와 측정 결과는 유사한 전파 전송 손실 경향을 보여주었으며 다양한 지형정보에 대한 전파 경로 손실 예측과 측정 결과들은 다양한 전파 업무 설계에 활용될 수 있다.

  • Sound transmission loss (TL) is experimently investigated on the multi-layered panel used for the floor of a tilting train. Measurement of the intensity transmission loss is performed according to ASTM E 2249-02. The floor structure consists of corrugated steel panel, glass wool, plywood and cover. On the corrugated steel panel, TL drop by local resonance is considered and the TL improvement effect by damping treatment is estimated. Total sound transmission loss of the entire floor structure is obtained and the contribution of each layer is examined.
