  • Combining dispersion-managed optical links with midway optical phase conjugation (OPC) is a possible method of compensating for optical signal distortion due to group velocity dispersion and nonlinear Kerr effects. Although an improvement in the performance of these optical links has been reported, the fixed residual dispersion per span (RDPS) that is typically used restricts the flexibility of link configurations. Thus, in this paper, a flexible dispersion-managed link configuration, comprising artificial distributions of linearly/nonlinearly incremented RDPS, is proposed. Simulations show that a descending distribution of RDPS before the midway OPC, and an ascending distribution of RDPS after the midway OPC, gives the best artificial distribution pattern as the number of fiber spans is increased, regardless of the RDPS incrementation method.

  • During ground faults in power system, large current and raised potential appear at nearby places. This paper presents an analytical procedure of the ground fault current for the towers of a transmission line(154kV) and distribution line(22.9kV) of an arbitrary number of spans during ground faults. In order to economically and securely protect against undesired consequences, it is necessary to evaluate as precisely as possible the value and distribution of the ground fault current.

  • The mold transformers have been widely used in underground substations in large building and have some advantages in comparison to oil-transformer, that is low fire risk, excellent environmental compatibility, compact size and high reliability. In addition, the application of mold transformer for outdoor is possible due to development of epoxy resin. The mold transformer generally has cooling duct between low voltage coil and high voltage coil. A mold transformer made by one body molding method has been developed for small size and low loss, but it needs some cooling method because heat radiation between each winding is difficult. In this paper, the temperature distribution and thermal stress analysis of H class 100kVA pole cast resin transformer for power distribution are investigated by FEM program.

  • In this paper, To estimate monthly water distribution volume required optimization control of operating scheme & water distribution management for water transmission system in water supply, both Thomas-Fiering technique and Fourier series are compared and analyzed, respectively. Since water distribution volume is periodically repeated and has a linear fluctuation trend, parameters in each element are estimated through dividing into linear fluctuation trend component and periodical component. Finally, results of time-series analysis are proved to be more reasonable than that of Thomas-Fiering techniques by comparing simulation with observation data.

  • Short-lived pseudonym certificates as vehicle identities could satisfy both security and privacy requirements. However, to remove revoked certificates especially in vehicle communications, pseudonym certificate revocation list (CRL) should be distributed resource-efficiently from a practical deployment point of view and in a timely manner. In this paper, we propose a novel CRL distribution scheme capable of CRL multicast to only activated vehicles registered to the CRL multicast group using the group communication system enabler, namely, the GCSE which is being standardized. The scheme is resource efficient by using CRL distribution paths instead of paging processes to find out multicast vehicle(s) within a certain region. The analyzed results show that the proposed scheme outperforms in terms of paging cost, packets transmission cost, and the processing cost at the respective entities compared to the existing four schemes in the literature.

  • The purpose of this experimental study was to analyze the stress distribution from fixed partial dentures to the surrounding structures. This study was carried out on the experimental bridges with K-L blade, F.D.B.I.-11 type, F.D.B.I.-21 type, shape-memory metal blade and two-Apacerams as posterior abutment. The stress patterns and fringes were observed through the circular transmission polariscope. The results of this study were obtained as follows: 1. The stress was more concentrated to the roots apex than the implants. 2. In all blade implants, the stress was more concentrated to the distal side than the mesial side. 3. F.D.B.I.-11 type was more stress concentrated than the 21 type. 4. Shape-memory metal blade was the most effective for stress distribution. 5. Apacerams were more stress concentrated than the blde types and in the model of Apaceram with rubber-ring, anterior root was tipped distally.

  • This paper presents an optimization technique using genetic algorithms(GA) for loss minimization in the distribution network reconfiguration. Determining switch position to be opened for loss minimization in the radial distribution system is a discrete optimization problem. GA is appropriate to solve the multivariable optimization problem and it uses population, not a solution. For this reason, GA is attractive to solve this problem. In this paper, we aimed at finding appropriate open sectionalizing switch position using GA, which can lead to minimum transmission losses.

  • Content distribution technology, which routes content to the cache servers, is considered as an effective method to reduce the response time of the user requests. However, due to the exponential increases of content traffic, traditional content routing methods suffer from high delay and consequent inefficient delivery. In this paper, a content selection policy is proposed, which combines the histories of cache hit and cache hit rate to collaboratively determine the content popularity. Specifically, the CGM policy promotes the probability of possible superior paths considering the storage cost and transmission cost of content network. Then, the content routing table is updated with the proportion of the distribution on the paths. Extensive simulation results show that our proposed scheme improves the content routing and outperforms existing routing schemes in terms of Internet traffic and access latency.

  • This paper proposes a new methodology for the estimation of impedance characteristics, which is one of the important issue in the power distribution network design of printed circuit boards. The modeling process of the proposed method divides the power distribution network into uniform segment, and each segment is modeled by distributed RLC transmission lines. Then, for the efficient computation of impedance characteristics in frequency domain. the proposed method uses a model-order reduction method.
