  • The non-uniform distribution of contamination on insulator surface has appreciable effects on flashover voltage, and corresponding researches are valuable for the better selection of outdoor insulation. In this paper, two typical types of porcelain and glass insulators which are widely used in ac lines were taken as the research subjects, and their corrections of AC flashover voltage under non-uniform pollution were studied. Besides, their flashover characteristics under different ratio (T/B) of top to bottom surface salt deposit density (SDD) were investigated, including the analysis of flashover voltage, surface pollution layer conductivity and critical leakage current. Test results gave the modified formulas for predicting flashover voltage of the two samples, which can be directly applied in the transmission line design. Also, the analysis delivered that, the basic reason why the flashover voltage increases with the decrease of T/B, is due to the decrease of equivalent surface conductivity of the whole surface and the decrease of critical leakage current. This research will be of certain value in providing references for outdoor insulation selection, as well as in proposing more information for revealing pollution flashover mechanism.

  • The purpose of this paper is to empirically investigate whether asymmetric price transmission exists in the distribution stage of farmed olive flounder market. For the analysis, time series data were used for the producer prices of Jeju and Wando, and the wholesale prices of Incheon, Hanam and Busan. Through the Granger causality test, the causal relationship from the producer price to the wholesale price was derived and the asymmetric price transmission was analyzed using the autoregressive distributed lag model (ARDL). As a result of the analysis, it was found that there is a phenomenon of 'positive asymmetric price transmission' from the producer price to the wholesale price. This result can be one evidence that excess profits are received in the intermediate distribution stage, and can be said to be a result showing the incompleteness and inefficiency of the distribution structure of the farmed olive flounder. In the future, it is required to establish an information-sharing system in all stages of production, distribution, and consumption that can create a competitive environment for distribution participants and resolve information asymmetry. Also, it is necessary to review the distribution center specializing in live fish from the viewpoint of the establishment of new distribution channels and sales diversification strategy under the rapidly changing fisheries environment.

  • HVDC is better economic method than HVAC in case of long distance transmission and it is possible to interconnect transmission lines regardless of difference of power frequency. The electrical environment problems of HVDC overhead transmission line are electric field, charged voltage, ion current and so on. For biopolar HVDC lines, most of the ions are directed toward the opposite polarity conductor, but a significant fraction is also directed toward the ground. These problems are major factor to design configuration of HVDC overhead transmission line. Therefore, It is necessary to test an environmental characteristics of HVDC overhead transmission line. In this paper, to assess the ion characteristic of HVDC transmission line, continuous measurements have been done on the biopolar single circuit line with ACSR 480mm2-6 bundle conductors of Gochang HVDC Test line. And then the ion characteristics were analyzed.

  • Korea takes part in overseas business by use of accumulated advanced technology through construction of the worlds first 765kV double circuit transmission system designed with pure local technology. 'Development Study on the Power System Network Analysis in Myanmar' was received in the year 2001 and was completed in the year 2002. The following project,'Feasibility Study and Basic Designs for the 500kV Transmission System in Myanmar' has been in progress since January, 2004. With regards to this project the master plan for the Myanmar long term power system was submitted in January 2005, and now the basic designs for the 500kV transmission system construction are in progress. Technical data for the design of the transmission line is calculated using a very complex numerical formula that is almost impossible to be completed by hand. So the transmission technical calculation system was developed to calculate and support Myanmar technical data for the design of transmission line with respect to factors such as wind prossure load, tower design data conductor design data and insulator design data on the basis of weather conditions for the Myamar transmission line design area of the Myanmar 500kV trans- mission line construction basic design.

  • The transmission current in a power cable is determined under the condition of separate pipe cooling. To this end, the thermal analysis is conducted with the standard condition of separate pipe cooling system, which constitutes one of the underground power transmission system. The changes of transmission current in a power cable with respect to the variation of temperatures and flow rates of inlet cooling water as well as the cooling spans are also determined. As a consequnce, the corresponding transmission current is shown to vary within allowable limit, resulting in the linear variation of the current for most of the cable routes. The abrupt changes of current, however, for the given flow rate of inlet cooling water in some cooling span lead to the adverse effects on the smooth current transmission within the underground power transmission system. In practice, it is expected that the desinging of the separate pipe cooling system in conjunction with the evaluation of system capacity should take into account the effects of design condition on the inlet cooling flow rate.

  • Electric transmission towers are facilities to transport electrical power from a plant to an electrical substation. The towers are connected using wires considering the wire tension and the clearance from the ground or nearby objects. The wires are installed on a rights-of-way that is a strip of land used by electrical utilities to maintain the transmission line facilities. Trees and plants around transmission lines must be managed to keep the operation of these lines safe and reliable. This study proposed the use of a low-cost drone photogrammetry for the transmission line rights-of-way mapping. Aerial photogrammetry is carried out to generate a dense point cloud around the transmission lines from which a DSM (Digital Surface Model) and DTM (Digital Terrain Model) are created. The lines and nearby objects are separated using nDSM (normalized Digital Surface Model) and the noises are suppressed in the multiple image space for the geospatial analysis. The experimental result with drone images over two spans of transmission lines on a mountain area showed that the proposed method successfully generate the rights-of-way map with hazard nearby objects.

  • An ultra-high voltage (UHV) transmission system has the advantages of low circuitry loss, high bulk capacity and long-distance transmission capabilities over conventional transmission systems, but it is easier for this system to cross fault rupture zones and become damaged during earthquakes. This paper experimentally and numerically investigates the seismic responses and collapse failure of a UHV transmission tower-line system crossing a fault. A 1:25 reduced-scale model is constructed and tested by using shaking tables to evaluate the influence of the forward-directivity and fling-step effects on the responses of suspension-type towers. Furthermore, the collapse failure tests of the system under specific cross-fault scenarios are carried out. The corresponding finite element (FE) model is established in ABAQUS software and verified based on the Tian-Ma-Qu material model. The results reveal that the seismic responses of the transmission system under the cross-fault scenario are larger than those under the near-fault scenario, and the permanent ground displacements in the fling-step ground motions tend to magnify the seismic responses of the fault-crossing transmission system. The critical collapse peak ground acceleration (PGA), failure mode and weak position determined by the model experiment and numerical simulation are in relatively good agreement. The sequential failure of the members in Segments 4 and 5 leads to the collapse of the entire model, whereas other segments basically remain in the intact state.

  • Wind-induced vibrations measured in the Tsuruga Test Line are characterized in this paper by single-channel data analysis based on piecewise application of Prony's method. Some of events were identified as galloping, while most of events were buffeting responses, which were confirmed partly by the buffeting analysis. Effects of end condition etc. on the response characteristics are also discussed.

  • In this paper, Power Flow Analysis (PFA) method has been applied to the prediction of vibration energy density and intensity of coupled shell structures in the medium-to-high frequency ranges. To consider the wave transformation at joint between shell elements, power transmission and reflection coefficients are investigated for various joint angles, and here Donnell-Mushtari thin shell theory has been used.
