This paper proposes the switched trans Z-source inverter(STZSI) which combined the characteristics of the trans Z-source inverter(TZSI) and the switched inductor Z-source inverter(SLZSI). The proposed STZSI has the same performance compared with the SLZSI which is improved the voltage boost performance of the conventional typical X-shaped ZSI, and it has advantage that circuit structure of Z-impedance network is more simple. And, in order to step up the voltage boost factor under the condition of the same duty ratio, unlike the SLZSI adding the inductors and diodes, the proposed method is dune by changing the turn ratio of trans primary winding of Z-impedance network. To confirm the validity of the proposed method, PSIM simulation and a DSP(TMS320F28335) based experiment were performed using trans with turn ratio 1 and 2 under the condition of the input DC voltage VI=50V, duty ratio D=0.1 and D=0.15. As a result, under the same input/ouput condition, the inverter arm voltage stress of the proposed method is reduced to about 15%-22% as compared with typical X-shaped ZSI, and the elements in Z-impedance network of the proposed method is reduced as compared with the SLZSI.

This paper presents a novel non-resonant PWM DC-DC converter for X-ray high-voltage power generator using the parasitic impedances of the high-voltage high-frequency link transformer with its output high-voltage control scheme and steady-state characteristics compared to the conventional series-parallel resonant DC-DC converter. The key point of this approach is to evaluate effectiveness of reduction of the turn ratio of the high-voltage high-frequency transformer on improvements in power conversion efficiency and the power factor applying a boost AC-DC converter as DC voltage source, especially in the long exposure term and light output load ranges.

Over the years, plasma display panel (PDP) manufacturers have impressed the flat panel display industry with yet another new product essentially having the merits of a larger screen size. Since larger size implies higher power ratings, voltage/current ratings of the power devices used have become a rising concern. Another important concern is the brightness of PDP, one way of increasing which is by operating the PDP at higher frequencies. In order to address the above issues, a transformer coupled sustain-driver for AC-PDP is proposed During the transition time, the two windings of the transformer greatly boost up the displacement current flowing through the panel capacitance and hence enable a fast inversion of the voltage polarity with practical values of resonant inductance. In the proposed topology, the resonant inductance can be increased by a factor of $(n+1)^2$ as compared to prior approaches. Increased inductance results in lower current stresses. Moreover, high frequency operation is possible by using higher value of n (turn ratio of the transformer). The operational principle and design procedure of the proposed circuit are presented with theoretical analysis. The validity of the proposed sustain driver is established through simulation and experimental results using a 42-in PDP

This paper aims to develop an SMPS topology for handling a high range of input voltages based on a DC-DC flyback converter circuit. For this purpose, 2 capacitors of the same specifications were serially connected on the input terminal side, with a flyback converter of the same circuit configuration serially connected to each of them, so as to achieve high input voltage and an effect of dividing input voltage. The serially connected flyback converters have the transformer turn ratio of 1:1, so that each coil is used for the winding of a single transformer, which is a characteristic of doubly-fed configuration and enables the correction of input capacitor voltage imbalance. In addition, a pulse transformer was designed and fabricated in a way that can achieve the isolation and noise robustness of the PWM output signal of the PWM controller that applies gate voltage to individual flyback converter switches. PSIM simulation was carried out to verify such a structure and confirm its feasibility, and a 100W class stack was fabricated and used to verify the feasibility of the proposed high voltage SMPS topology.
This paper discussed the LCL-type & Isolated bidirectional dc-dc converter(BDC) with dual full bridge inverter. In order to verify the analysis of the BDC, Experimental prototype has been designed and implemented to supply constant voltage regardless of loads and proposed a method to select switching frequency that depended on two inductors' inductance ratio and transformer parameters. The proposed converter has been composed of LCL resonant network with unit inductance ratio ($L_r/L_f$=1) and then operated with fixed duty, 50% duty ratio and fixed frequency. There are some characteristics that input voltage and output voltage of the BDC is nearly identical and zero voltage turn-on switching is possible in forward and reverse mode. Finally, it has been showed that BDC is possible to commutate operating mode normally and provide constant output voltage in selected switching frequency.
Resonant converters have attracted a lot of attention because of their high efficiency due to the soft-switching performance. An isolated high step-up converter with secondary-side resonant loops is proposed and analyzed in this paper. By placing the resonant loops on the secondary side, the current stress for the resonant capacitors is greatly reduced. The power loss caused by the equivalent series resistance of the resonant capacitor is also decreased. Clamp diodes in parallel with the resonant capacitors ensure a unique discontinuous current mode in the converter. Under this mode, the active switches can realize soft-switching during both turn-on and turn-off transitions. Meanwhile, the reverse-recovery problems of diodes are also alleviated by the leakage inductor. The converter is essentially a step-up converter. Therefore, it is helpful for decreasing the transformer turn-ratio when it is applied as a high step-up converter. The steady-state operation principle is analyzed in detail and design considerations are presented in this paper. Theoretical conclusions are verified by experimental results obtained from a 500W prototype with a 35V-42V input and a 400V output.
In this paper, three kinds of PWM strategies for a three-phase current-fed dc/dc converter are proposed and compared in terms of losses and voltage transfer ratio. Each PWM strategy is described graphically and their switching losses are analyzed. With the proposed PWM C strategy, one turn-off switching of each bridge switch is eliminated to reduce switching losses under the same switching frequency. In addition, RMS current through the bridge switches is lowered by using parallel connection between two bridge switches and thus, conduction losses of the switches are reduced. Further, copper losses of the transformer are decreased due to the reduced RMS current of each transformer's winding. Therefore, total losses are minimized and the efficiency of the converter is improved by using the proposed PWM C strategy. Digital signal processor (DSP: TI320LF2407) and a field-programmable gate array (FPGA: EPM7128) board are used to generate PWM patterns for three-phase bridge and clamp MOSFETs. A 500W prototype converter is built and its experimental results verify the validity of the proposed PWM strategies.
