  • The aim of this work is to develop the fractional Bateman equations, which can model memory effects in successive isotopes transformations. Such memory effects have been previously reported in the alpha decay, which exhibits a non-Markovian behavior. Since there are radioactive decay series with consecutive alpha decays, it is convenient to include the mentioned memory effects, developing the fractional Bateman Equations, which can reproduce the standard ones when the fractional order is equal to one. The proposed fractional model preserves the mathematical shape and the symmetry of the standard equations, being the only difference the presence of the Mittag-Leffler function, instead of the exponential one. This last is a very important result, because allows the implementation of the proposed fractional model in burnup and activation codes in a straightforward way. Numerical experiments show that the proposed equations predict high decay rates for small time values, in comparison with the standard equations, which have high decay rates for large times. This work represents a novelty approach to the theory of successive transformations, and opens the possibility to study properties of the Bateman equation from a fractional approach.

  • This paper is concerned with power transformations in estimating GARCH volatility. To handle a semi-parametric case for which the exact likelihood is not known, quasi-likelihood (QL) rather than maximum-likelihood method is investigated to best estimate GARCH via maximizing the information criteria. A power transformation is introduced in the innovation generating QL estimating functions and then optimum power is selected by maximizing the profile information. A combination of two different power transformations is also studied in order to increase the parameter estimation efficiency. Nine domestic stock prices data are analyzed to order to illustrate the main idea of the paper. The data span includes Covid-19 pandemic period in which financial time series are really volatile.

  • The phase transformations and the shape memory effect in In-rich Pb alloys and In rich-Sn alloys have been studied by means of X-ray diffractometry supplemented by metallographic observations. The alloys containing 12~15 at.%Pb transform from the ${\alpha}_2$ (fct) phase to the ${\alpha}_1$ (fct) phase by way of an intermediate phase (m phase) on cooling. The results of X-ray diffraction show that the metastable intermediate phase is observed both on cooling and heating, and has a face-centered orthorhombic (fco) structure. It is concluded that the ${\alpha}_1{\rightleftarrows}{\alpha}_2$ transformation is expressed by the ${\alpha}_1{\rightleftarrows}m{\rightleftarrows}{\alpha}_2$ transformation both on usual cooling and heating with the rate more than $8{\times}10^{-3}$ K/s. The $m{\rightleftarrows}{\alpha}_2$ transformation takes place with a mechanism involving macroscopic shear and are of diffusionless (martensitic) type. The temperature hysteresis in the two transformations is 10~13 K between the heating and cooling transformations. The alloys containing 0~11 at.%Sn are -phase solid solutions with a face centered tetragonal structure (c/a > 1) at room temperature, the axial ratio increasing continuously with tin content. The In-(11~15) at.%Sn alloys are mixtures of ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ phases, the ${\beta}$ phase having a f. c. tetragonal structure (c/a < 1). The alloys containing more than 15 at.%Sn are ${\beta}$-phase solid solutions. The In-(12.9~15.0) at.%Sn alloys show a shape memory effect only when quenched to the temperature of liquid nitrogen, although their effect becomes weak and finally disappears after keeping at room temperature for a long time. The ${\beta}{\rightarrow}{\alpha}^{\prime}$ phase transformation is of the diffusionless (martensitic) type, and takes place between 330 K at 12.9 at.%Sn and 150 K at 14.5 at.%Sn. The hysteresis of transformation temperatures on heating and cooling is considerably large (29~40 K), depending on the composition. Both In-Pb and In-Sn alloys showed distinct the shape memory effects.

  • In this paper, we show the existence of open subsets U of $S^3$ which admit a C-transformation onto the interior of $B^3$. Let U be an open set which is homeomorphic to the interior of $B^3$. Then, we prove that if U has a pseudo general polyhedral prime end structure then U admits a C-transformation.

  • This paper describes robust stabilization of nonlinear single-input uncertain systems without matching conditions. We consider nonlinear systems with a vector of unknown constant parameters perturbed about a known value. The approach utilizes the generalized controller canonical form to lump the unmatched uncertainties recursively into the matched ones. This can be achieved via nonlinear coordinate transformations which depend not only on the states of the nonlinear system but also on the control input. Then the dynamic robust control law is derived and the stability result is also presented.

  • The numerical solution of the Navier-Stokes equations in a constricted stepped channel problem has been obtained using a fourth order numerical method. Transformations are made to have a fine grid near the sharp corner and a long channel downstream. The derivatives in the Navier-Stokes equations are replaced by fourth order central differences which result a 29-point computational stencil. A procedure is used to avoid extra numerical boundary conditions near the solid walls. Results have been obtained for Reynolds numbers up to 1000.

  • A dynamic graphical procedure is suggested to estimate optimal response transformation parameter and a curvature function of covariates in the regression model. Augmented partial residual plot is chosen for specifying a curvature. The proposed method is compared with a different approach (Soo, 2007) and is investigated efficiency by applying it to the real and the artificial data. The method is also extended to the 3D graphical situations.
