Video image processing systems(VIPS) offer numerous benefits to transportation models and applications, due to their ability to monitor traffic in real time. VIPS based on wide-area detection, i.e., multi-lane surveillance algorithm provide traffic parameters with single camera such as flow and velocity, as well as occupancy and density. However, most current commercial VIPS utilize a tripwire detection algorithm that examines image intensity changes in the detection regions to indicate vehicle presence and passage, i.e., they do not identify individual vehicles as unique targets. If VIPS are developed to track individual vehicles and thus trace vehicle trajectories, many existing transportation models will benefit from more detailed information of individual vehicles. Furthermore, additional information obtained from the vehicle trajectories will improve incident detection by identifying lane change maneuvers and acceleration/deceleration patterns. The objective of this research was to relate traffic safety to VIPS tracking and this paper has developed a computer vision system of monitoring individual vehicle trajectories based on image processing, and offer the detailed information, for example, volumes, speed, and occupancy rate as well as traffic information via tripwire image detectors. Also the developed system has been verified by comparing with commercial VIP detectors.

Automated road map generation poses significant research challenges since GPS-based navigation systems prevail in most general vehicles. This paper proposes an automated detecting method for intersection points using GPS vehicle trajectory data without any background digital map information. The proposed method exploits the fact that the trajectories are generally split into several branches at an intersection point. One problem in previous work on this intersection detecting is that those approaches require stopping points and direction changes for every testing vehicle. However our approach does not require such complex auxiliary information for intersection detecting. Our method is based on partial trajectory matching among trajectories since a set of incoming trajectories split other trajectory cluster branches at the intersection point. We tested our method on a real GPS data set with 1266 vehicles in Gangnam District, Seoul. Our experiment showed that the proposed method works well at some bigger intersection points in Gangnam. Our system scored 75% sensitivity and 78% specificity according to the test data. We believe that more GPS trajectory data would make our system more reliable and applicable in a practice.
With the rapid increase of vehicles, various traffic problems, e.g., car crashes, traffic congestions, etc, frequently occur in the road environment of the urban area. To overcome such traffic problems, intelligent transportation systems have been developed with a traffic flow analysis. The traffic flow, which can be estimated by the vehicle counting scheme, plays an important role to manage and control the urban traffic. In this paper, we propose a novel vehicle counting method based on predicted centers of each lane. Specifically, the centers of each lane are detected by using the accumulated movement of vehicles and its filtered responses. The number of vehicles, which pass through extracted centers, is counted by checking the closest trajectories of the corresponding vehicles. Various experimental results on road CCTV videos demonstrate that the proposed method is effective for vehicle counting.

Compared with traditional itinerary planning, intention-oriented itinerary recommendations can provide more flexible activity planning without requiring the user's predetermined destinations and is especially helpful for those in unfamiliar environments. The rank and classification of points of interest (POI) from location-based social networks (LBSN) are used to indicate different user intentions. The mining of vehicles' physical trajectories can provide exact civil traffic information for path planning. This paper proposes a POI category-based itinerary recommendation framework combining physical trajectories with LBSN. Specifically, a Voronoi graph-based GPS trajectory analysis method is utilized to build traffic information networks, and an ant colony algorithm for multi-object optimization is implemented to locate the most appropriate itineraries. We conduct experiments on datasets from the Foursquare and GeoLife projects. A test of users' satisfaction with the recommended items is also performed. Our results show that the satisfaction level reaches an average of 80%.
The increasing popularity of autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can be attributed to their wide range of applications. 3D path planning is one of the crucial components enabling autonomous flight. In this paper, we present a novel 3D path planning algorithm that generates and utilizes curvature-based trajectories. Our approach leverages circular properties, offering notable advantages. First, circular trajectories make collision detection easier. Second, the planning procedure is streamlined by eliminating the need for the spline process to generate dynamically feasible trajectories. To validate our proposed algorithm, we conducted simulations in Gazebo Simulator. Within the simulation, we placed various obstacles such as pillars, nets, trees, and walls. The results demonstrate the efficacy and potential of our proposed algorithm in facilitating efficient and reliable 3D path planning for UAVs.

GPS/INS integration is widely considered as main navigation systems of vehicles since GPS(Global Positioning System) and INS(Inertial Navigation System) have their own strength and weakness, respectively. Accuracy, continuity, integrity, and availability should be provided in navigation systems of vehicles. Ultra-tightly integration can improve these capacities, expecially availability of GPS. Unmanned Expedition Vehicles(UEV) must be robust against Jamming and external impact because UEV have to substitute for a man when they are in the place where they can not be controlled by a man. This paper analyzes the performance of Ultra-tightly integration and compares it with those of loosely integration and tightly integration for some trajectories

The traffic accident is the prerequisite of the traffic accident reconstruction. In this study, the traffic accident (forward collision) and traffic accident reconstruction (inverse collision) simulations are conducted to improve the quality and accuracy of the traffic accident reconstruction. The vehicle and tire models are used to simulate the trajectories for the post-impact motion of the vehicles after collision. The impact dynamic model applicable to the forward and inverse collision simulations is also provided. The accuracy of impact analysis for the vehicular collision depends on the accuracy of the coefficients of restitution and friction. The neural network is used to estimate these coefficients. The forward and inverse collision simulations for the multi-collisions are conducted. The new method fur the accident reconstruction is proposed to calculate the pre-impact velocities of the vehicles without using the trial and error process which requires the repeated calculations of the initial velocities until the forward collision simulation satisfies with the accident evidences. This method estimates the pre-impact velocities of the vehicles by analyzing the trajectories of the vehicles. The vehicle slides on a road surface not only under the skidding during an emergency braking but also under the steering. A vehicle over steering or cornering with excessive speed loses the traction and leaves tile yaw marks on the road surface. The new critical speed formula based on the vehicle dynamics is proposed to analyze the yaw marks and shows smaller errors than ones of the existing critical speed formula.

On road networks, the clustering of moving objects is important for traffic monitoring and routes recommendation. The existing schemes find out density route by considering the number of vehicles in a road segment. Since they don’t consider the features of each road segment such as width, length, and directions in a road network, the results are not correct in some real road networks. To overcome such problems, we propose a clustering method for congested routes discovering from the trajectories of moving objects on road networks. The proposed scheme can be divided into three steps. First, it divides each road network into segments with different width, length, and directions. Second, the congested road segments are detected through analyzing the trajectories of moving objects on the road network. The saturation degree of each road segment and the average moving speed of vehicles in a road segment are computed to detect the congested road segments. Finally, we compute the final congested routes by using a clustering scheme. The experimental results showed that the proposed scheme can efficiently discover the congested routes in different directions of the roads.
It becomes easy and generalized to track the cellular phone users and vehicles according to the Progress of wireless telecommunication, the spread of network, and the miniaturization of terminal devices. It has been constantly studied to provide location based services to furnish suitable services depending on the positions of customers. Various vehicle tracking and management systems are developed to utilize and manage the vehicle locations to relieve the congestion of traffic and to smooth transportation. However the designed previous work can not evaluated in real world, because most of previous work is only designed not implemented and it is developed for simple model to handle a point, a line, a polygon object. Therefore, we design a moving object query language and implement a vehicle management system to search the positions and trajectories of vehicles and to analyze the cost of transportation effectively. The designed query language based on a SQL can be utilized to get the trajectories between two specific places, the departure time, the arrival time of vehicles, and the predicted uncertainty positions, etc. In addition, the proposed moving object query language for managing transportation vehicles is useful to analyze the cost of trajectories in a variety of moving object management system containing transportation.
Applications such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and the time varying nature of their navigation, guidance and control systems motivate an integrated approach to trajectory general ion and trajectory tracking for autonomous vehicles. In this paper, an experimental testbed was designed for studying this integrated trajectory control approach. In this paper we apply the separating approach to an autonomous nonlinear vehicle system. A new linear matrix inequality based H$_{\infty}$ control technique for periodic time-varying systems is applied to the role of trajectory tracking. Trajectory general ion is accomplished by exploit ing the differential flatness property of the vehicle system; this at lows product ion of desired feasible nominal or reference trajectories from certain ″flat'system outputs. Simulation and experimental results are presented showing stable tracking of a periodic circular trajectory.
