Effects of Virtual Reality Exercise Program on Balance in Multiple Sclerosis Patients

  • Purpose: This study was conducted in order to investigate the effectiveness of an 8-week virtual reality exercise program designed around the Nintendo Wii (Wii), in improving balance among patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Methods: The study included 16 patients with MS (10 female, 6 male) who were assigned randomly to experimental (n=8) or control group (n=8). Experimental group performed three 40-minute Wii balance-training sessions per week, for 8 weeks. The control group did not perform any of the training programs. A computerized dynamic posturography (Sensory Organizing Test, SOT) was used to evaluate all patients at baseline and at the end of the treatment protocol. Statistical significance was tested in between the patients before and after treatment by t-test. Results: After 24 training sessions, SOT showed significant difference on condition 5, 6, and vestibular ratios within the experimental group from baseline to post-intervention. By contrast, no significant difference was observed within the control groups. Conclusion: These findings demonstrated that the virtual reality training program could improve the outcomes in terms of balance in the MS population. Long term follow ups and the development of more efficient virtual reality training programs are needed.

항공사 CRM 훈련과정 특성에 따른 승무원 훈련만족도 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Airline's CRM (Crew Resource Management) Training Programs and Flight Crews' Satisfaction)

  • It has been focused on that the major reasons of aircraft accidents resulted not from human error but from the failure of teamwork or communication in 1980's. Such opinions were suggested in the workshop, so called, "Resource Management on the Flight Deck" by NASA in 1979. The researchers agreed the fact the source of human error was originated from the failure in teamwork, communication or even in leadership of captain. Due to the rapid development of aircraft technologies, the reasons for aircraft accident could be easily found out. According to the analysis results of the technology, most of reasons for the accident might directly be connected not to human error or stick-Rudder skill but to situational awareness, communication, leadership or decision making in the aircraft. This paper has tried to research empirically the satisfaction of flight crews who have gone thorugh CRM training in the commercial airline. Based on the quantitative scale by J. Ford et al. (2014), this paper has proved which characteristics of CRM training has a positive impact on the overall satisfaction of CRM training. It was proven that the teamwork and decision making programs among CRM training have a major effect to the satisfaction level of flight crews.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 청소년의 직업훈련만족도가 중소기업 진로적응에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 검증하는 것이다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 서울시 6개 직업전문학교 학생들을 대상으로 설문지를 배포하였으며 회신된 1128부를 연구에 활용하였다. 표본추출방법은 비확률표집방법에서 편의표집방법을 활용하였다. 청소년의 직업훈련 만족도가 진로적응에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 청소년의 직업훈련만족도가 진로적응의 주도성에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 청소년의 직업훈련만족도가 진로적응의 목표성에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 따라서 향후 예비직업인인 청소년을 대상으로 중소기업 활성화를 위해 다양한 직업교육 프로그램, 직업체험프로그램이 필요하다.

Comparison of Usability and Prefrontal Cortex Activity of Cognitive-Motor Training Programs using Sensor-Based Interactive Systems

  • Objective: Cognitive-motor trainings had a positive impact on cognitive function and dual-task trainings led to improvements of global cognitive function. The brain activity of the prefrontal cortex (PFC) is another indicator that can infer cognitive function. This study aims to confirm the usability of the interactive system cognitive-motor training program and the changes in the prefrontal cortex through training. Design: Cross-sectional study Methods: In this study, two cognitive tasks were randomly applied to 20 adults as cognitive-motor training using an interactive system, and the same task was performed using the original method. During all tasks, the brain activity of the prefrontal cortex was measured by the change in oxyhemoglobin (HbO) in real-time using Functional Near-Infrastructure. After performing the tasks, the usability of the developed interactive system was evaluated by a usability questionnaire which consists of five items, and each item consists of a 7-point Likert scale that responds from 1 point to 7 points. Results: The HbO levels were increased during cognitive task performance than at the resting phase. And evaluating the usefulness of the interactive system, a questionnaire result showed that it would be useful for cognitive-motor programs. Conclusions: The cognitive-motor training using the interactive system increased the activity of the prefrontal cortex, and the developed wearable sensor-based interactive system confirmed its usefulness.

공간정보체계 인력양성을 위한 교육과정 분석 (An Analysis of Education Programs for Spatial Information System)

  • NGIS를 통하여 우리나라는 공간정보화가 가속되었고, 그 사업에는 인력양성 사업이 포함되어 있다. 인력양성사업은 공간정보체계 관련 전문가를 양성하는 사업이며 단기와 장기 두 가지 과정이 운영되고 있다. 장기과정의 경우 공간정보체계 관련 전문가 과정 또는 공간정보체계 관련 최신 기술에 대한 교육을 수행하고 있고, 단기과정은 공간정보의 활용 또는 최신 컴포넌트 기술 등에 대한 소개를 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 교육 프로그램과 교육과정을 분석하여 보도록 한다. 또한 공간정보사업을 효율적으로 추진하기 위하여 교육 과정 등에 대한 몇 가지 추진방향에 대하여 제시하도록 한다. 효율적인 교육을 위하여는 과목의 중복성 배제 및 교육 과정 유형을 고려한 교육 등이 요구된다.

한국과 필리핀의 해기교육에 관한 고찰 (Comparative Review of Maritime Transportation Education between Korea and the Philippines)

  • 이 논문은 전통적인 해기국가인 한국과 필리핀에 있어서 해기교육 중 해상운송교육에 대해서 조사하여 상호 비교한다. 두 국가의 교육기관인 목포해양대학과 필리핀해양대학을 대상으로 하여 검토하였다. 양 교육기관의 교과과정과 교육훈련프로그램 및 STCW의 교육훈련과 당직기준의 요구사항을 포함한 교과과정과 교육체계의 차이점에 대해 비교 검토한다. 해기교육의 품질을 향상시키기 위하여 양 교육기관에서 살행되어야 할 바람직한 해기교육프로그램, 해사관련업계의 발전방향에 대하여 제안한다.

학교 기반 정신건강증진 및 학교폭력 예방 프로그램 단기적 실시의 효과에 대한 예비연구 (School-Based Short Term Mental Health Awareness and School Bullying Prevention Programs : Preliminary Report)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the preliminary effects of school-based short term mental health awareness and school bullying prevention programs. Methods : From April to December 2013, the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Promotion team of Seoul National Hospital conducted school-based short term social skill training (N=56, 4 sessions), mental health awareness (N=84, 4 sessions) and school bullying prevention programs (N=171, 1 session) in elementary and junior high schools located in Seoul. The changes in the subjects before and after the program were assessed. Results : The social skills training program improved the 'helping' behaviors in boys (t=-2.355, p<.05) and 'sharing' (t=-3.223, p<.01), 'cooperation' (t=-2.235, p<.05), and 'comforting' (t=-2.830, p<.01) behaviors in girls, assessed using the Prosocial Behavior Questionnaire. The mental health awareness program improved 'general health awareness' (t=2.620, p<.05), measured using the Korean General Health Questionnaire. The school bullying prevention program resulted in decreased 'self esteem' (t=3.769, p<.01), measured using the Self Esteem Scale and decreased 'anger' (t=4.198, p<.01), assessed using the Novaco Anger Scale. Conclusion : The results of our preliminary analysis suggest that school-based mental health awareness and school bullying prevention programs may be effective even when conducted for a short term. Future investigation is necessary in order to validate the long term effects of these programs.

Overview of Food Safety Issues in School Foodservice Operations in the United States

  • Millions people in the US suffer from foodborne illnesses each year. In the US, multiple government agencies work separately or together to ensure the nation's food safety for different audiences. FDA plays a key role in ensuring food safety in foodservice operations by providing the Food Code. School foodservice operations must follow the FDA guidelines on food safety and make sure that foods produced in school foodservice are safe. Despite the continuous efforts, school foodservice operations were responsible for numerous foodborne outbreaks. Currently, school foodservice operations serve younger children (<5 years) and children with medical conditions which make the food safety extremely important. There are many programs that foodservice operators can use to train and educate their employees. ServSafe$\^$ⓡ/tate or local food safety education programs, Serving It Safe, and HACCP workshop are common programs that can be used to train their staff. HACCP is a preventative program that can prevent foodborne illnesses before they occur. Although there are many benefits of utilizing HACCP and training programs, a majority school foodservice directors and managers still did not implement HACCP nor perceived their food safety training is adequate. Most reasons why not implementing HACCP program are lack of trained personnel, time, and financial resources in the school foodservice systems. The gap between what people know and what people do is another challenge identified as an obstacle food safety programs. Despite safe food sources in the US, continuous training is necessary to remove human errors and ensure food safety in the school foodservice systems. Future research is recommended to reduce gap between food safety knowledge and behavior. Foodservice operators and researchers may apply the systems developed in the US to their food systems.

수학교사 전문성 개발을 위한 고찰 : 국외 수학교사 전문성 개발 프로그램 사례를 바탕으로 (A study on professional development for mathematics teachers : Based on the investigation of professional development programs in foreign countries)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 우리나라 수학교사들의 전문성 개발을 위하여 국내 수학교사 연수 프로그램의 개선 방안을 모색하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 우리나라 수학교사 연수 현황을 살펴보고, 수학교사 전문성의 개념을 확고히 정립하고 뚜렷한 전략을 지닌 다섯 가지 국외 수학교사 전문성 개발 프로그램들을 선정하여 각 프로그램의 목적, 진행 과정, 초점을 두는 요소, 지원 등에 관해 살펴보았다. 이후 각 프로그램의 장단점 및 유형을 분석하였고, 이를 바탕으로 우리나라 수학교사 연수 프로그램에 주는 시사점에 대해 논의하였다.

영양사 배출 관련학과의 전공과목 강화 및 개발에 관한 연구 제1보 -영양사 및 대학 교수의 전공과목 강화에 대한 의견 조사 (A Study on Reinforcement and Development of Course Programs in Department of Food Science and Nutrition Related Studies 1st Report -Based on Survey of Dietitians and Professors -)

  • This study was conducted to obtain basic data for reinforcing and developing course programs in department of Food Science and Nutrition. For this purpose, data was collected from dietitians and professors who work at 2-and 4-year colleges. Results are as follows. 1. Many respondents (95.7%) support that It Is desirable to separate dietitian license into two types. Reasons are (1) specific knowledge required by job type is different(29.5%), and (2) to increse job performance (29.3%). 2. Most respondents(95.4%) agree that course programs are needed to be revised. Because (1) current programs are inadequate to provide specific knowledge required at field work (67.8%), and (2) the programs are not helpful to increase job performance of dietitians (54.1%). 3. Respondents of dietitians want to extend applied science area(37.7%) and reinforce lab training (63.1%), as principles of program revision. 4. Course titles which need to be reinforced are Internship(95.8%) and Lap training(67.8%). 5. Specialized areas which need to be reinforced are Food Service Managemant and Practical Training(90.9%), Nutrition Education and Guide(88.9%), Public Health Nutrition(79.0%), Basic Area for Clinics(85.6%), Basic area for Education and Counselling(87.1%), and Cooking Science(77.5%) 6. Courses which are needed to be reinforced by respondents(over 75% agree) are Computer Management for Food Service, Counselling, Nutrition and Disease, Diet Therapy, Quantity Cooking, Internship, Public Health (Health Care), Community Nutrition(Environment and Nutrition), Clinical Nutrition, Psychology, and Communication.
