  • This study investigates the pre-service teacher trainees' reactions to and evaluations about the earth science teaching method that utilizes songs. The subjects of the study were 81 university students in teacher training institutes for primary schools and secondary schools. The researcher used songs which the subjects judged to be reflecting some of the natural phenomena related to the earth science. The teacher trainees were taught some of the earth science concepts with the help of the selected songs. Discussions about the possibilities of the songs as an ai d to science teaching were also encouraged. The teacher trainees demonstrated positive reactions to the teaching method, and expressed their intention to use songs in their future teaching. The method also inspired the trainees to be inquisitive in their everyday life and seek other effective teaching methods.

  • The present data-driven study attempted to explicate nonnative English teacher trainees' foreign language teaching anxiety in microteaching settings from their perspectives. It is assumed that nonnative English teachers or teacher trainees may experience anxiety not only as foreign language learners but also as foreign language teachers. In order to inquire into their anxiety, the researcher had 172 teacher trainees perform extended microteaching tasks and reflect on their teaching and anxiety through group discussion. Based on the analysis of their discussion, three aspects related to nonnative English teacher trainees' anxiety were identified. First, teacher trainees identified three main types of anxiety-provoking situations: communicative-competence-threatening situations, unexpected situations, and instruction-hindering situations. Second, they identified three sources of anxiety: limited ability to use English, lack of English teaching skills, and fear of criticism. Third, they were aware that they used diverse strategies to lower anxiety before and while teaching for different purposes. From their identification and awareness of anxiety-provoking situations, sources of anxiety, and anxiety-lowering strategies, they could reflect on professional qualifications as a foreign language teacher.

  • The goals of the present study are two-fold: 1) to examine NNS teachers' needs for training period in improving their general communicative competence and classroom communicative competence, and 2) to explore the relationships of teachers' needs for the training period, and their current levels of general/classroom communicative competence and other background variables. Data was collected from seventy primary and secondary school English teachers (N=70) who participated in the six-month intensive teacher training program in South Korea. The teacher trainees responded to four questionnaires of 1) the self-diagnosis of their current levels of four language skills (L/S/R/W) in both general/classroom communicative competence, 2) the training period required to improve their general/classroom communicative competence for teaching both English and other subjects through English, 3) the period of their English teaching, and 4) the proportion of their English use in class. The data analysis has shown that there were the strong relationships between trainee needs for the training period and their teaching period, and the proportion of their English use in class. In terms of trainees' communicative competence, the significant relations of both their general/classroom communicative competence and their needs for the training period were found. Implications of the findings are discussed.

  • Objective: This study aims to identify career decisions based on the variables associated with child care practice and to identify how each factor in the child care teacher's career decisions affects the prospective child care teacher's career decisions affects the prospective child care teacher's career decisions, and to what extent they are able to explain their career decisions to the prospective child care teacher. Methods: Data were analyzed through partial correlation and hierarchical regression. Results: Both the institutional and school variables involved in child care practices were found to have significant static implications for career decisions. The relative explanatory power of these variables has been shown to be significant in practical satisfaction. Conclusion/Implications: The results of the study that the practical satisfaction level, which is the institutional variable related to child care practice, significantly affects the career decisions of prospective child care teachers, recognize the importance of the child care practice in practical institutions where prospective child care teachers practice and suggest appropriate child care practice based on their understanding of the trainee.

  • The aim of this article is to review the traditional methodologies of teaching translation that concentrate on text-typologies and, as an alternative, to propose an eclectic multi-componential approach that involves a set of interdisciplinary skills with a view to improving the trainee translators' competences and skills. To this end, three approaches, namely a minimalist approach, a pre-transferring adjustment approach and a revision vs. editing approach are proposed to shift the focus of attention from teacher-centred approaches towards student-centred approaches. It has been shown that translator training programmes need to focus on improving the trainee translators' competences and skills, such as training them how to produce and select among the different versions they produce by themselves with justified confidence as quickly as they can (minimalist approach), adjust the original text semantically, syntactically and/or textually in a way that the source text supplely accommodates itself in the linguistic system of the target language (pre-transferring adjustment), and revise and edit others' translations. As the validity of the approach proposed relies partially on instructors' competences and skills in teaching translation, universities, particularly in the Arab world, need to invest in recruiting expert practitioners instead of depending mainly on bilingual teachers to teach translation.

  • Purpose: This study was designed for understanding their experiences through qualitative research method. There is a growing concern about what the trainee school health teachers experience during teaching practice period, the first experience as a teacher. Method: Data collection was conducted on 2012-2014, using the student teaching practice self-reports. Participants included 43 school health preliminary teacher's teaching practice from G colleges. The study conducted a qualitative analysis by utilizing computer assisted qualitative data analysis software(CAQDAS), NVivo 10. Results: The trainees experienced that tension, excitement and fear was changed to joy, rewarding and gratitude. They defined the practice as a standard of the possibility in the capacity of a future teacher. It was a hard job without a sense of accomplishment. They thought that too much works in school health teacher and thanks to the school and teacher for the teaching opportunities. They think teaching as a hard job to endure without a sense of accomplishment. Conclusion: Findings of this study allow for a comprehensive understanding of trainees. It was investigated the suggestions for the improvement of a teaching practice. The challenge need to the expand school health teacher placement and more research.

  • This study is about in-service training structure combined digital competence and pedagogical knowledge in order to improve digital tools skill of a teacher in the school. Meanwhile domestic teacher training has been revealed low-level of applying into a teaching in the k12 school. Thus this study proposed teacher training system with focus on TPK sub-categories of TPACK. The core contents of TPK is to select appropriate digital tool for its teaching & learning. Additionally it is to select elements of teaching & learning associated with an attribute of digital tool. And this study presented modularize of 3 step such as teaching objective, teaching contents, assessment. Also we proposed that this training system should be operated with problem solving method which trainee itself compose TPK elements. And we committed quality investigation about picking up Strategies of TPK elements and the teacher training frame. • Teaching with technology has been widespread in practical classroom settings, and increased the needs to enhance pre-service teachers' capability with a variety of technologies. The purpose of this study is focused on designing and implementing a training program to develop pre-service teachers' Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge(TPACK) which promotes them use technologies tactically in integrated science classes. Based on the theoretical framework of TPACK and Practitioner's Guide to TPACK, the authors developed ten periods of lessons comprised instructional skills in elementary science education. Subsequently, the program was applied into a teacher trainee course in Korea. The results of this study indicate that the TPACK training program for pre-service teachers significantly influenced on attitude toward convergence, TPACK, and science teaching efficacy of the engaged participants. The developed program, meanwhile, caused a significant TPACK improvement of female participants of the teachers college more effectively. Furthermore, it mitigated the gap between science and humanity tracks coming from their high schools. Consequently, there are possibilities to improve pre-service teachers' teaching strategies for integrated classes, if they have opportunities to review the comprehensibility of technological, pedagogical, content knowledge, and intersected areas with metacognitive perspectives.
