This study reveals that rail reform which separates infrastructure from train operation requires more safety activities to train operator than before. To meet these requirements the train operator, KNR, should build up more expertness, accept accidents investigation by the third party, establish and operate safety knowledge management system, and manage a forum which facilitates the communication between the parties concerned.
For the tunnel design of the first class on new Seoul-Chunchon railway, we investigated for train speeds to run through tunnels without ear-discomfort of passenger in cabin by application of numerical analysis. Also we analyzed the effect of the wind speed induced by train in tunnel that is very harmful to the workers on railroad and the effect of the air-pressure fluctuations which get the fatigue to the tunnel lining and the car body.
Simulator is used to verifying the function and performance of train control system before verifying with actual train. In this case, it is important that the simulation result should be coincide with the result with actual train. In this paper, the process of the development of automatic train operation (ATO) is described. ATO is in charge of automatic train control such as speed regulation and precision stop control. Identical interfaces from the ATO to the actual train was made in the simulator. Therefore ATO communicates to the simulator in the same way to the actual train. Futhermore, the train dynamic properties was measured by experiments and these were applied to the train model. Hence the response of the train in the simulator to the acceleration command is similar to that of the actual train. The simulation result of precision stop control is compared with the result in the actual train test to show the fidelity of the train model derived in the study and the superiority of this simulator.
The region trunk line railroad route undergoes an influence on a large scale in train operation systematic reorganization. This keynote of the train operation not being to the consumer and not to be is because being to the supplier. The trunk line route user of region supply change of the supplier sensitively, accepts but, the demand unit will be able to change the supply massive demanders does not become and like that to accept this back is not the railroad the mean of transportation which grudge is different a mean of transportation mainly makes use. This hits to neither the gist of GLORY promotions of the railroad public corporation which pursues the railroad use which is ordinary even in the basis of governmental policy of stock of coal small green growth and not to be is arranged. For the railroad use activation of the region trunk line route consequently and to excavate the demand hindrance element and a demand lure element the inside and the outside defines and to observe the fluctuation of use importing in existing train operation systematic fluctuation, with the user tries analyzes the instance of the overseas railroad enterprise about the process which reflects the opinion of the area and improvement under preparing boil.

Recently, An introduction of communication based train control system both into greenfield and brownfield of urban transit network has been actively reviewed. However, since a number of line sections and rolling stock depots tends to be constructed based on track circuit for various reasons, necessity of inter-operation between two distinct train control system (CBTC, ATC) increases. Therefore, we propose a design of on-board signalling device that allows inter-operation of CBTC and ATC lines and a method to secure safe connection between these two lines without derailing point machine.

It is very important that the calculation of railroad track capacity in infrastructure investment analysis and train operation planning. The dwelling time is one of the factors that influence in railroad track capacity. Current research in dwelling time has been focusing on theoretical investigation, the state of the research in effective variable (dwelling time etc) is insufficient. In this paper, we clearly draw the concept of railroad track capacity and the estimate on modeling of relationship railway demand and dwelling time. Also, we compare and analyze the variation of railroad track capacity according to transit railway demand in Gyeongin Line (Guro~Inchon). This paper is expected to contribute for improving on the in-using equations and methods in train operation planning as well as for improving level of service on railway user.
GTX(Great Train Express), the wide area express train of a big city center of metropolitan area, is the best new transportation method able to realize 'Low Carbon Green Growth' for solving traffic congestion of the metropolitan area with the connection the metropolitan area into 40-minute life zone by speeding up the standardized velocity, making the route straight and reducing the compensation of land using the space of 40~50m below the ground. In the transportation sector all over the world, if it turned into the public transportation system focusing on the train at a point of time that low carbon green revolution takes the initiative, national competitiveness would be enhanced by reducing the emission of carbon from cars by 1/6. Accordingly, this study is to look into the efficient operation in accordance with GTX construction superintended by currently Gyeonggi province and to consider the optimum operation plan of GTX that are proper for the actual circumstances of the country by comparatively analyzing overseas cases that took their positions as new transportation by curtailment of transit time through highspeed such as London area, Paris area, and Tokyo area etc that are similar to Korean metropolitan area.

The longest tunnel has been halted at Daekwanryung by the failure of the host country of the Winter Olympiad in 2014, but modern High-Power TBM will come to Korea to excavate these long tunnels to establish the better horizontal connection between the western and eastern countries to improve the strong powerful logistic strategy of Korean peninsula. Train operation provides a key function of air movements in a long underground tunnel, and heat generation from transit vehicles may account of the most heat release to the ventilation and emergency systems. This paper indicates the optimal fire suppress services and safety provision for the long railway tunnel which is designed twin tunnel with length 22km in Gangwon province of Korea. The design of the fire-fighting systems and emergency were prepared by the operation of the famous long-railway tunnels as well as the severe lessons from the real fires in domestic and overseas experiences. Designers should concentrate the optimal solution for passenger's safety at the emergency state when tunnel fires, train crush accidents, derailment, and etc. The optimal fire-extinguishing facilities for long railway tunnels are presented for better safety of the comfortable operation in this hard rock tunnel of eastern mountains side of Korea. Since year 1900, hard rock tunnel construction has been launched for railway tunnels in Korea, tunnels have been built for various purposes not only for infrastructure tunnels including roadway, railway, subway, and but also for water and power supply, for deposit food, waste, and oils etc. Most favorable railway tunnel system was discussed in details; twin tunnels, distance of cross passage, ventilation systems, for the comfortable train operations in the future.

In this study, the dynamic characteristic of a contact wire and pantograph suppling electrical power to high-speed trains are investigated from an electrical response point of view. To analysis power line disturbance by induced contact loss phenomenon for high speed operation, a hardware Simulator which considered contact loss between contact wire and the pantograph as well as contact wire deviation is developed. It is confirmed that a contact wire and pantograph model are necessary for studying the dynamic behavior of the pantograph system. One of the most important needs accompanied by increasing the speed of high-speed train is reduced that an arc phenomenon by loss of contact brings out EMI. In case of a high-speed train using electrical power, as comparison with diesel rolling stock, PLD(Power Line Disturbance) such as harmonic, transient voltage and current, EMI, dummy signal injection etc usually occurs. Throughout experiment, it is verified that an arc phenomenon is brought out for simulator operation and consequently conducted noise is flowed in electric circuit by power line disturbance.

The next generation domestic high speed railway system is a power distributed type and uses vector control method for motor speed control. Nowadays, inverter driven induction motor system is widely used. However, recently PMSM drives are deeply considered as a alternative candidate instead of an induction motor driven system due to their advantages in efficiency, noise reduction and maintenance. The next-generation high-speed train is composed of 2 converter units, 4 inverter units, and 4 Traction Motor units. Each motor is connected to the inverter directly. In this paper, the effects of IPMSM parameter variation to the system operation characteristics of the multi inverter driven high speed train system are investigated. The parallel connected inverter input-output characteristics are analyzed to the parameter mismatches of the IPMSM in 1C1M control using Matlab/Simulink, then the reliability of the simulation results are verified through experimental results.
