Region-Based Moving Object Segmentation for Video Monitoring System (비디오 감시시스템을 위한 영역 기반의 움직이는 물체 분할)

  • This paper presents an efficient region-based motion segmentation method for segmenting of moving objects in a traffic scene with a focus on a Video Monitoring System (VMS). The presented method consists of two phases: motion detection and motion segmentation. Using the adaptive thresholding technique, the differences between two consecutive frames are analyzed to detect the movements of objects in a scene. To segment the detected regions into meaningful objects which have the similar intensity and motion information, the regions are initially segmented using a k-means clustering algorithm and then, the neighboring regions with the similar motion information are merged. Since we deal with not the whole image, but the detected regions in the segmentation phase, the computational cost is reduced dramatically. Experimental results demonstrate robustness in the occlusions among multiple moving objects and the change in environmental conditions as well.

  • In this paper, we analyze functional requirements of the IEEE 802.22 WRAN, and propose a downlink 프레임 structure satisfying the requirements. The proposed downlink 프레임 structure maximizes e transmission efficiency by adopting the cognative radio to assign the sub-channel by reflecting the channel environment of WRAN. We also calculate the signalling overhead for both downlink and uplink, and analyze the performances of time synchronization, frequency synchronization and cell identification based on the 프리앰블 in downlink and suggest the channel estimation method tough 프리앰블 or pilot. As a final result, e stationary beamforming (SBF) algorithm with dynamic channel allocation(DCA) is proposed. The proposed OFDMA downlink 프레임 structure with channel adaptive sub-channel allocation for cognitive radio applications is verified to meet the requirements of IEEE 802.22 WRAN, by computer simulations.

Adaptive Macroblock Quantization Method for H.264 Codec (H.264 코덱을 위한 적응적 매크로블록 양자화 방법)

  • This paper presents a new adaptive macroblock quantization algorithm which generates the output bits corresponding to the target bit budget. The H.264 standard uses various coding modes and optimization methods to improve the compression performance, which makes it difficult to control the amount of the generated traffic accurately. In the proposed scheme, linear regression analysis is used to analyze the relationship between the bit rate of each macroblock and the quantization parameter and to predict the MAD values. Using the predicted values, the quantization parameter of each macroblock is determined by the Lagrange multiplier method and then modified according to the difference between the bit budget and the generated bits. It is shown by experimental results that the new algorithm can generate output bits accurately corresponding to the target bit rates.

  • To cope with the explosive growth of traffic which is considered as one of the most biggest threat to current mobile communication systems, various solutions such as small cell and device-to-device communication have been exploited. Directional transmission in which transmission power of base station is focused onto the direction where the mobile station is located, can be used to increase throughput of the system. In this work, we develop a system-level simulator for cellular mobile communication systems using directional transmission and adaptive interference estimation scheme for directional transmission has been proposed. By using the developed simulator, the performance of cellular mobile communication systems with directional transmission is examined. Moreover, it is shown that the overall throughput of cellular system can be improved by utilizing directional transmission.

  • In order to provide various types of application services based on the Internet, it is ideal to guarantee the quality of service(QoS) for each flow. However, realizing these ideas is not an easy task.. It is effective to classify multiple flows having the same or similar service quality requirements into same group, and to provide service quality for each group. The queue management mechanism in the router plays a very important role in order to efficiently transmit data and to support differentiated quality of service for each service. In order to efficiently support various multimedia services, an intelligent and adaptive queue management mechanism is required. This paper proposes an intelligent queue management mechanism based on deep reinforcement learning that decides whether to deliver packets for each group based on the traffic information of each flow group flowing in for a certain period of time and the current network state information.

  • The performance of the National Highway is raised, but the capacity of the signalized intersection on the National Highway is low. It's operated by TOD(Time Of Day) mode. To evaluate of the performance of COSMOS(Cycle, Offset, Split Model for Seoul), a real time traffic adaptive signal control system, on the National Highway, studied volume, travel time and queuing length at TOD control and TRC(Traffic responsive Control). Consequently, the average travel speed at TRC is high $2.9\~16.7$km/h then the average travel speed at TOD control. And te queuing length at TRC is low $15\~196m$ then the queuing length at TOD control.

Optimal QP Determination Method for Adaptive Intra Frame Encoding (적응적 인트라 프레임 압축을 위한 최적 QP 결정 방법)

  • In video coding, the first frame of a GOP is encoded in intra mode which generates a larger number of bits. In addition, the first frame is used for the inter mode encoding of the following frames. Thus the intial QP for the first frame encoding affects the first frame as well as the following frames. To determine the initial QP that maximizes the PSNR of a GOP, several algorithms which uses the ratio of the PSNR of the I frame and the PSNR of P frames of a GOP have been proposed. In this paper, we propose a new traffic model that can be used to determine the optimal initial QP simply and exactly in algorithms that use the PSNR ratio. We first analyze the characteristics of the PSNR ratio of I and P frames and the PSNR of a GOP, and then propose a new traffic model which can represent the characteristics and determine the optimal intial QP. It is shown by experimental results that the initial QP determination method with the proposed model can predict an optimal initial QP whose difference from the optimal value is less than 2. The proposed scheme can also generate the PSNR performance better than that of the existing JVT algorithm.

  • Mobile multi-hop relaying (MMR) technology is being considered as a promising solution capable to enhance coverage, user throughput, and system capacity of the current wired backbone dependent wireless access networks. Since the relaying nodes do not need a wired backbone access, MMR technology offers easy and low-cost deployment, flexible cell planning, and adaptive traffic handling performance. In this paper, we investigate performance and cost effectiveness of the MMR technology deployment in the IEEE802.16j based WiBro/WiMAX systems. We first introduce standardization activities and research issues of MMR WiBro/ WiMAX systems. Since the coverage extension problem may occur in metropolitan areas as well as suburban or rural areas where user density is relatively low or moderate, we introduce several MMR topologies and analyze cost-effectiveness of MMR based coverage extension with respect to the user traffic density. Then, we argue cost effect on MMR technology deployment and throughput performance, Finally, we introduce further study issues including sectorized base station based MMR deployment approaches and the single and multi-frame structure MMR approaches.

Development of an Interface Module with a Microscopic Simulation Model for COSMOS Evaluation (미시적 시뮬레이터를 이용한 실시간 신호제어시스템(COSMOS) 평가 시뮬레이션 환경 개발)

  • The COSMOS is an adaptive traffic control systems that can adjust signal timing parameters in response to various traffic conditions. To evaluate the performance of the COSMOS systems, the field study is only practical option because any evaluation tools are not available. To overcome this limitation, a newly integrated interfacing simulator between a microscopic simulation program and COSMOS was developed. In this paper, a detector module and a signal timing module as well as general feature of the simulator were described. A validation test was performed to verify the accuracy of the data flow within the simulator. It was shown that the accuracy level of information from the simulator was high enough for real application. Several practical comments on further studies were also included to enhance the functional specifications of the simulator.

  • 첨단교통정보시스템(ATIS)의 핵심 요소라 할 수 있는 동적경로안내 시스템(Dynamic Route Guidance System : DRGS)은 운전자가 목적지에 도착하기까지 실시간 교통정보를 토대로 최적경로를 안내해 줌으로써 날로 심화되어 가고 있는 교통혼잡을 최소화할 수 있으리라 기대를 모으고 있다. 특히 교통사고나 긴급도로공사 등으로 인해 발생하는 돌발적 교통혼잡하에서는 DRGS의 역할이 더욱 커질 것으로 예상되고 있다. 본 논문은 돌발적 교통혼잡하에서 보다 효과적인 DRGS의 경로 안내 알고리즘을 개발하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해서 우선 하부구조기반(Infrastructure Based) DRGS와 개인차량기반(In-vehicle Based)DRGS의 장단점을 운전자, 교통행정당국, 그리고 교통체계관점에서 비교하였고, 시스템 아키텍쳐와 경로안내 알고리즘간의 상호관계를 규명하였다. 또한 효율적인 경로안내를 위해 사용자 평형(User Equilibrium)경로안내전략과 시스템최적화(System Optimal) 경로안내전략을 이상형 교통망(Idealistic Network)을 통해 비교분석하였다. 여기에는 현재 ITS-America에서 System Architecture 평가를 위해 사용한 INTEGRATION이라는 ITS Simulation Model과 그 통행저항함수를 사용하였다. 이를 토대로 돌발적 교통혼잡상황 아래서 사용자평형 경로안내를 제공할 경우 야기될 수 있는 Braess` Paradox 문제와, 총통행시간을 최소화하기 위한 시스템최적 경로안내를 제공할 경우 일어날 수 있는 사용자 호응도(User Compliance)문제를 동시에 고려한 적응형 동적경로안내 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 여기에는 돌발적 교통혼잡하에서 통행시간을 동적으로 예측하기 위해 이산형 확정적 대기행렬모형(Discrete Deterministic Queueing Model)이 사용되었다. 한편 알고리즘의 효율성을 평가하기 위해 이상형 교통망과, 실제 미국 Virginia 주의 Fairfax County에 소재한 주간 고속도로 66번(I-66)과 인접 교통망의 교통자료를 사용하여 각종 돌발교통 혼잡 상황을 전제로 한 Traffic Simulation과 정보제공시나\리오를 INTEGRATION Model을 이용해 실행하였다. 그 결과 적응형 알고리즘이 개개인의 최단시간 경로를 제공하는 사용자 평형 경로안내전략에 비해 교통혼잡도와 정체시간의 체류정도에 따라 3%에서 10%까지 전체통행시간을 절약할 수 있다는 결론을 얻었다.
