The Torajan people who started to receive increased attention from the 1990 are one of the many ethnic groups of Indonesia. This paper intends to examine Torajan Ceremonies practied today in the modern world, driven by the Torajan people's age-old perspective of life and death (and the world after) that comes from their background on traditional lifestyle and (animated) folk religion/belief. It focuses on the ceremonial Dances, which is one of the most important element in Torajan Ceremonies, and gain deeper insight through its costumes and ornaments which traditionally revealed the social status of hosts and performers. In ceremony, the most important division is the classification of ritual into Aluk rampe matallo(life facing ritual ) and Aluk rampe matampu? death ritual). So Traditional Toraja dances may be classified into two genres: life related ritual dances and death ritual dances. Especially the funeral ceremonies in Toraja has been rather more famous on its spectacle aspect to outsiders however its relationships to the broader theme of Torajan Ceremonies and ceremonial dances are very less known and sources on this topic are also very scarce. Fortunately, I was able to witness one of such an ritual event. I did see one kind of the funeral rituals which is the most dramatic and symbolically rich performances in Toraja. Here, a brief account of its will highlight some dimension of ceremony, personfood, and potency in Torajan thought and action.

Background: Previous studies have investigated technology-aided needling training systems for acupuncture on phantom models using various measurement techniques. In this study, we developed and validated a vision-based needling training system (noncontact measurement) and compared its training effectiveness with that of the traditional training method. Methods: Needle displacements during manipulation were analyzed using OpenCV to derive three parameters, i.e., needle insertion speed, needle insertion angle (needle tip direction), and needle insertion length. The system was validated in a laboratory setting and a needling training course. The performances of the novices (students) before and after training were compared with the experts. The technology-aided training method was also compared with the traditional training method. Results: Before the training, a significant difference in needle insertion speed was found between experts and novices. After the training, the novices approached the speed of the experts. Both training methods could improve the insertion speed of the novices after 10 training sessions. However, the technology-aided training group already showed improvement after five training sessions. Students and teachers showed positive attitudes toward the system. Conclusion: The results suggest that the technology-aided method using computer vision has similar training effectiveness to the traditional one and can potentially be used to speed up needling training.

한국의 전통연희극을 저급한 것, 체계화되지 않은 것, 극이라고 할 수 없는 것 등으로 인식하는 시선이 많다. 그러나 연희극 중에는 완벽한 서사구조를 갖는 이야기로써 풀어내는 극이 분명히 존재한다. 서양의 비극 이론을 그대로 수용하고 있는 미얄과장에서부터 코미디의 원형인 러브스토리를 담아내고 있는 강릉관노가면극에 이르기까지 많은 연희극들이 그 내용은 매우 간략하더라도 서사의 요소들을 담백하게 담아내고 있다. 지금까지 전해져 내려오는 연희극 중 완벽한 서사구조를 지닌 개체가 매우 적은 것이 사실이다. 이것들을 발굴해내고 복원하는 것은 연구자들의 몫이며, 동시대 철학에 맞게 새롭게 만들어내는 것은 창작예술인들의 과제다. 이 두 분야가 원활하게 소통을 한다면 우리 전통 연희극의 미래를 지금보다 더 밝게 내다볼 수 있을 것이다. 이로써 한국 전통 연희를 세계 시장에 과감히 스며들도록 하는 것 또한 앞으로 풀어야 할 과제로 자리 잡을 것이다.

이 글은 굿의 공연화 방법을 모색하기 위하여 시작되었다. 그 방법을 찾기 위해 먼저 지금까지 이루어졌던 굿공연을 정리해야 했다. 무엇보다 공연의 미덕은 '다양성 창출'이라고 생각하기에 기존의 공연 문법을 정리하고, 이와는 다른 길을 모색하기 위함이었다. 그러나 1980년대부터 본격화된 굿공연을 정리하는 것은 생각보다 쉽지 않은 일이었다. 기존에 한 번도 정리되지 않았기 때문이다. 그러기에 본 연구자의 직 간접적인 경험에 의거하여 중요한 공연들을 시대순으로 정리해보았다. 무엇보다 공연을 가능케 하는 것은 그 공연의 기획자(때론 개인이 아닌 그룹일 수 있고, 때론 기관이다)이기에 이들을 주목하였다. 전국민속예술경연대회, 공간사랑, 굿학회, 마당세실극장, 서울놀이마당, 국립국악원이 굿공연의 중심 공간 및 기획 주체였다. 굿공연사 기술은 그 자체로 가치있는 작업이다. 그러나 이 작업은 개인의 노력으로 하기에는 방대한 작업이며, 그 가치의 확산을 위해서는 공공프로젝트로 진행해야 한다. 이에 본고는 이에 대한 필요성을 제기하고 있다. 한편 본고는 앞서 말했듯이 굿의 공연화 방법을 모색하기 위한 전제조건으로 굿공연사를 기술했다. 시론적으로나마 굿공연사를 정리하니 대부분의 공연이 굿을 하는 이들이 공연 주체가 되었고, 그로 인하여 굿공연의 방식은 원래의 굿을 그대로 시간에 맞추어 실연하는 방식을 크게 벗어나지 못함을 알게 되었다. 이에 굿을 소재로 다른 방식의 공연을 하는 마당극패 신명과 연희패 The광대의 작업을 소개하였다. 이를 통해 총체적으로 얽혀있는 굿의 공연요소들이 잘 가공된다면 굳이 '재현'의 방식이 아닌, 새로운 공연으로의 소재나 메타포가 될 수 있을 것으로 기대하였다.

도시의 대표적 공공장소인 전통시장의 활성화를 위하여 노력해 왔으나 결과는 만족스럽지 못한 실정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 국내 도시의 전통시장 활성화를 위한 계획 및 설계방법론에 있어서의 시사점을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 전통시장 재생의 선진사례로 알려진 보스턴 '퀸시마켓'과 밴쿠버 '그랜빌 아일랜드 공설시장'을 대상지로 선정하여 공공공간을 중심으로 이론적 고찰과 사례분석을 진행하였다. 사례분석의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전통시장을 구성하는 다양한 공간 및 시설은 연계를 통하여 상승효과를 나타낸다. 둘째, 전통시장 이용객을 위한 다양한 공공공간이 시장건물과 오픈스페이스에 조성되었다. 셋째, 전통시장에서 판매하는 음식·음료를 공공공공에서 취식할 수 있으며, 만남, 휴식, 공연 및 행사가 공공공간에서 이루어지고 있다. 넷째, 단일화된 집행력을 갖는 회사 또는 비영리주체가 시장운영을 담당하거나 참여하고 있다.

Mobile computers have restrictions for size, weight, and power consumption that are different from traditional workstations. Storage device must be smaller, lighter. Low power consumed storage devices are needed. At the present time, flash memory device is a reasonable candidate for such device. But flash memory has drawbacks such as bulk erase operation and slow program time. This causes of worse average write performances. This paper suggests a storage method which improves write performance.

In an effort to make a right choice among ratio estimation strategies and PPS sampling strategies, we conduct an empirical investigation of the relative performances of three ratio estimation strategies and four PPS estimation strategies using a set of 12 natural populations. The quality of a strategy is measured in the traditional way, namely with the consideration of efficiency, achieved coverage rate of the nominal 99% confidence interval and approach to normality (asymmetry).

The RMS statistical approach has demonstrated its potential in developing pharmaceutical dosage forms and in improving tabletting performance. Using an optimized formula, the tabletting performances of vitamin C-90 such as compressibility, disintegration time, lubrication and friability are significantly enhanced when compared with the performance of a traditional test formula. More important, this method also enables us to serve our customers better. Any customized modification of a suggested formula or any technical problem related performance etc. can be readily resolved by simple examination of the models.

Three switched-capacitor(SC) networks are presented including series-parallel capacitor set, reversed-switched-capacitor network and push-pull switched-capacitor network, the performances of which are discussed. Combining the SC networks with traditional DC-DC converters, we form several new topologies. Experiment and analyzed results show that the behavior of a DC-DC converter with large voltage ratio can be improved. A wider voltage conversion range is also obtained.

The purpose of this study is to compare the quality of service between successful and unsuccessful traditional Korean restaurants, We utilized the 7Ps (product price, promotion, participants, physical evidence, process) theory applied in a previous study (B.H. Booms & M.J. Bitner, 1981). We analyzed the collected data in order to compare the 7P's performances between successful and unsuccessful restaurants. The results this study show that successful statistically significance that prosperous restaurants are affected by other 6Ps except promotion. The results suggest that the most Korean restaurants did not pay enough attention to promotion comparing to European and American restaurants. Thus, Korean restaurants are required to take more interest in promotion to get competitive advantages in the future.
