They were treated by acupuncture, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation therapy and low-intensity pulsed ultrasound at acupoints and sympathetic ganglion chain of their cervical and upper thoracic region. The evaluation of clinical outcome was done by numeric rating scale (NRS), dizziness handicap inventory (DHI) and neck disability index (NDI), EuroQol-five dimensions questionnaire (EQ-5D) index. After the treatment, the value of their NRS, NDI, DHI was significantly decreased and their EQ-5D index was significantly increased. The traditional Korean medicine treatment at cervical and upper thoracic region could be an effective way to treat cervical vertigo.

  • Objectives To summarize and evaluate the efficacy of traditional Chinese herbal medicine (TCHM) treatment for antibiotic associated diarrhea (AAD). Methods Eight electronic databases were searched from their inception to August 2017. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the efficacy of TCHM treatment for AAD were included. The risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane risk of bias assessment tool. Data analysis was performed using RevMan software version 5.3. Results Seventeen RCTs involving 1138 patients with AAD were included for qualitative synthesis. TCHM treatment improved total effective rate (TER). However, the results that TER in experimental group was significantly higher than in control group were different between the included studies. TCHM enema treatment improved TER, but not significantly higher than control group. The most frequently used herbal formulas were Gamiwekwanjeon, Gamiinsampaedoksan, and Samryungbaekchulsan. The most frequently used TCHMs were Atractylodes macrocephala (Bai Zhu), Dioscorea batatas (Shan Yao). Within the studies documenting the adverse events, no serious adverse events associated with TCHM treatment were observed. Conclusions Evidence of TCHM treatment efficacy for AAD is encouraging, but not conclusive, because of the low methodological qualities, diversity of TCHM treatment prescriptions. Further well-designed RCTs with rigorous randomization and blinding method are needed to confirm these results.

Methods and Results : From Feb. 2012 to Jan. 2013, the 64 patients were outpatients for treatment of headache in Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Medicine, Traditional Korean Medical Hospital, Semyung University and treated with meridian tendino-musculature acupuncture. To evaluate the effect of meridian tendino-musculature acupuncture, we devide 3groups(21 occipital-headache patients, 27 temporal-headache patients, 16 frontal-headache patients) upon pain area and search pain intensity(VAS were used), different frequency, duration time. As a result, headache are improved remarkably within two weeks. Conclusions : Meridian tendino-musculature acupuncture was found to be helpful to patients who wish to recover from headache. In order to make this meridian tendino-musculature acupuncture more available, we should pay more attention to improving treatment appliance and acupuncture techniwue.

  • This report presents the clinical progress of a 50-year-old male diagnosed with a left acetabular fracture and left rib fracture after falling from a height of 3 m. The patient was treated nonsurgically and underwent complex traditional Korean medicine (TKM) treatment and rehabilitation, including acupuncture, electroacupuncture, pharmacopuncture, bee venom, herbal medicine, physiotherapy, and moxibustion. Patient progress was assessed using the numerical rating scale (NRS), manual muscle test (MMT), and modified Harris Hip Score (mHHS). During 113 days of hospitalization, the NRS score decreased from 7 to 3, and the MMT grade increased to normal in the hip, knee, and ankle joints. The mHHS score increased from 26 to 99 points. Radiographs and computed tomography scans of the left acetabulum were obtained periodically, and fracture union was successfully achieved. To our knowledge, this is the first case report of complex TKM treatment and rehabilitation of acetabular fractures.
