A rotational decision-directed AFC algorithm for QPSK demodulation (회전결정경계를 이용한 QPSK 복조용 자동주파수 제어 알고리즘)

  • In order to prevent the presence of the residual phase difference at the discriminator output by the existing AFC techniques, we propose a new automatic frequency control(AFC) tracking algorithm for QPSK demodulation at the digital direct broadcasting satellite(DBS) receiver, which we call a rotational decision-directed AFC(RDDAFC). The RDDAFC rotates the decision boundary for the kth received symbol by the frequency deterctor output of the (k-1)th received symbol. Tracking performances of carrier frequency offset by the proposed RDDAFC algorithm are evaluated through computer simulations under the practical DBS channel conditions with a carrier frequency offset of 2.3MHz when S/N equals 2dB. Test results show that the total pull-in time of the RDDAFC is 1.697msec for 10$^{-3}$ SER before forwared error correction at the receiver.

  • In this paper, aging characteristics of silicone rubber used for outdoor insulation have been investigated with regards to sunlight effect. For this purpose, silicone rubbers were aged under the artificial sunlight by use of xenon arc lamp(1500W) and various tests were performed such as tracking, breakdown, contact angle, stress, strain. And then, in order to elucidate the changes of material, analysis have been followed as follows; FT-IR, SEM and EDS. Regarding the effect of the sunlight, it was obs that the surface of test samples are severely da with decreased hydrophobicity, tracking resistan breakdown strength.

Effects of Alumina Trihydrate on Electrical Performance of EPDM (EPDM의 전기적 특성에 미치는 수산화알미늄의 영향)

  • Electrical properties such as tracking resistance, dielectric constant, $tan\delta$, and volume resistivity, and mechanical properties such as tensile, and strength, and % elongation were measured with the alumina trihydrate filled with EPDM. The results were dicussed in terms of the effect of hydroxyl group. The test results show that the tracking resistance of EPDM improves with the increase in ATH content, whereas volume resistivity, dielectric constant, $tan\delta$ decrease wi th increasing ATH content due to polar nature of ATH. In the charge accumulation characteristics, the homocharge is formed in pure EPDM, and as the ATH content increases in the EPDM compound, the amount of homocharge decrease.

  • The electrical accidents result from insulation blackdown due to over voltage and overheating due to the excess of allowable current, deterioration of insulation performance due to the passage of time, and so on. In this paper, the insulating characteristics of phenolic resin using insulating materials for low voltage were analyzed and the tracking test was performed according to IEC Publ. 112.

  • Higher productivity requires high-speed motion of machine tool axes. The iron core linear DC motor (LDM) is widely accepted as a viable candidate for high-speed machine tool feed unit. LDM, however, has two inherent disturbance force components, namely cogging and thrust force ripple. These disturbance forces directly affect the tracking accuracy of the feeding system and must be eliminated or reduced. In order to reduce motor ripple, this research adapted the feedforward compensation method and neural network control. Experiments carried out with the linear motor test setup show that these control methods are effective in reducing motor ripple.

  • This paper presents the system modeling, analysis, and controller design and implementation with a inverted pendulum system in order to test Linear Quadratic control based robust algorithm for inverted pendulum robot. The balancing of an inverted pendulum robot by moving pendulum robot like as 'segway' along a horizontal track is a classic problem in the area of control. This paper will describe two methods to swing a pendulum attached to a cart from an initial downwards position to an upright position and maintain that state. The results of real experiment show that the proposed control system has superior performance for following a reference command at certain initial conditions.

  • Analysis and control of intake charge motion such as swirl and tumble are very important to improve the performance of gasoline engines. In this paper, single frame double exposure PTV(particle tracking velocimetry) is used to investigate intake flow characteristic in a steady flow test rig of gasoline engine with 2-valve and pent-roof combustion chamber. To validate this PTV method, we confirmed reliability of this PTV method using chopper, and coaxial burner experiments. The velocity Held of intake flow is measured with the intake valve lift variation. It is shown that maximum flow velocity is increased and tumble flow become stronger than inverse tumble flow as valve lift increase.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to solve ghosting problem. To generate adaptive background, using an exponentially decreasing number of frames, may improve object detection performance. To extract moving objects from the background by using a differential image, detection error may be caused by object rotations or environmental changes. A ghosting problem can be issue-driven when there are outdoor environmental changes and moving objects. We studied that a differential image by adaptive background may reduce the ghosting problem. In experimental results, we test that our method can solve the ghosting problem.

  • When driving at night time environment, the whole body of transports does not visible to us. Due to lack of light conditions, there are only two options, which is clearly visible their taillights and break lights. To improve the recognition correctness of vehicle detection, we present an approach to vehicle detection and tracking using finding contour of the object on binary image at night time. Bilateral filtering is used to make more clearly on threshold part. To remove unexpected small noises used morphological opening. In verification stage, paired tail lights are tracked during their existence in the ROI. The accuracy of the test results for vehicle detection is about 93%.

  • Necessarily, it is required to analyze interfacial mechanism between tire and road for understanding tire wear, vehicle tracking and breaking. Therefore, there have been some efforts to measure 3-axis pressure and 2-axis displacement on tire road interface. But it was so hard to couple precisely measuring sensor and desired point on tire tread pattern block that it was impossible to analyze the mechanism on commercial tire with tread pattern. To overcome such a problem, a on-line measurement system is proposed in this paper. And an automatic control system is designed to test the tire with similar configuration of real vehicle driving.
