Decision problem called an optimal release policies, after testing a software system in development phase and transfer it to the user, is studied. The applied model of release time exploited infinite non-homogeneous Poisson process. This infinite non-homogeneous Poisson process is a model which reflects the possibility of introducing new faults when correcting or modifying the software. The failure life-cycle distribution used mixture which has various intensity, if the system is complicated. Thus, software release policies which minimize a total average software cost of development and maintenance under the constraint of satisfying a software reliability requirement becomes an optimal release policies. In a numerical example, after trend test applied and estimated the parameters using maximum likelihood estimation of inter-failure time data, estimated software optimal release time.

The objective of this case study is to describe ins and outs of a production and information management system developed for footwear industry (based on MRP system). First, basic structure of the total system, configuration of sub-system modules, specification and configuration of software/hardware used in this system are presented. Second, design of the total system flow, configuration of code system, file description used in this system are explained. Third, function of software modules and principal algorithms and basic data structuring technigues are discussed. Finally, inplementation plan and output reports are presented.
The problems in software cost management are well known. Cost estimates are too low. Software development projects frequently have cost overruns, which are due to poor estimates. A fair amount of work have been done toward developing cost estimation models. These models vary in their outputs (e. g., total cost, manning schedule) and in the factors used to calculate their estimates. They also vary with regard to the type of formula, parameters, use of previous data, and staffing considerations. This paper will distinguish them by the type of formula they use to calculate total effort and staffing level, and will discuss enough models to demonstrate the characteristics of each model category.

This paper addresses the issue how the total life cycle cost may be minimized and how the cost should be allocated to the acquirer and developer. This paper differentiates post life cycle change (PLCC) endeavors from PLCC activities, rigorously classifies PLCC endeavors according to the result of PLCC endeavors, and rigorously defines the life cycle cost of a software product. This paper reviews classical definitions of software 'maintenance' types and proposes a new typology of PLCC activities too. The proposed classification schemes are exhaustive and mutually exclusive, and provide a new paradigm to review existing literatures regarding software cost estimation, software 'maintenance,' software evolution, and software architecture from a new perspective. This paper argues that the long-term interest of the acquirer is not protected properly because warranty period is typically too short and because the main concern of warranty service is given to removing the defects detected easily. Based on the observation that defects are caused solely by errors the developer has committed for software while defects are often induced by using for hardware (so, this paper cautiously proposes not to use the term 'maintenance' at all for software), this paper argues that the cost to remove defects should not be borne by the acquirer for software.
The purpose of using CBD in the object-oriented modeling is to improve the software capability by reducing iterative time and space complexity. Despites many achievements of CBD, it is needed to study about design patterns and it's standardization for the increment of CBD design reusability. However, it is rather possible that impetuous constructing meta-pattern languages and pattern repositories make adapting patterns to software development more complicate and difficult. By applying GoF design patterns to the design of the TMDL(Total Maximum Daily Load) environmental software discipline, this study suggests a method which specifies Pattern names at class names for retrieving, exploring the adapted patterns on the stage of software design without meta-pattern language which is a redundant abstraction, nor additional pattern repositories. Thus, this study can contribute on the reducing iterations and repetitions that are frequently occurred in the process of the environmental software developments.

Software education enhances creative thinking and critical thinking for students living in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and helps them choose jobs in software-related industries. This study is an example of software education applied to the vulnerable students of the child welfare center to narrow the software gap and achieve the equity in education. This education was conducted in Unplugged activity, Entry coding, and Physical computing classes for 170 students from 20 institutions in South Chungcheong Province, North Chungcheong Province, and Daejeon city in Korea. The curriculum utilized a total of four types of student and teacher level materials, with a total of 10 hours of classes per child welfare center. In addition, the surveys of the students and institutions confirmed that this education influenced their interest in software education and their desire for continuous software education.
It is of great practical interest to decide when to stop testing a software system in the development phase and transfer it to the user. This decision problemcalled an optimal software release one is discussed to specify the a, pp.opriate release time. In almost all studies, the software reliability models used are nonphomogenous Poisson process(NHPP) model with bounded mean value function. HNPP models with unbounded mean value function are more suitable in practice because of the possibility of introducing new faults when correcting or modifying the software. We discuss optimal software release policies which minimize a total average software cost under the constraint of satisfying a software reliability requirement. A numerical example illustrates the results.

In this paper, we deal with an optimal software-release problem of determining the time to stop testing and release the software system to the user. The optimal release time problem is considered from maintenance like the periodic distribution of service packs and the unpredictable distribution of patches after the release. Moreover, the environment of software error-detection during operation differs from the environment during testing. This paper proposes the software reliability growth model which incorporates periodic service packs, unpredictable patches and operational environment. Based on the proposed model, we derive optimal release time to minimize total cost composed of fixing an error, testing and maintenance. Using numerical examples, optimal release time is determined and illustrated.

This paper considers software release problems based on Goel-Okumoto and S-shaped reliability growth models. Test of the software system is terminated after a preassigned time T, and it is released to the operational phase. It is assumed that correction cost of an error is increasing with test or operation time. Optimum software release time is obtained using total expected cost on the software life time as a criterion for optimization. In addition, optimal software release policies under the constraint of a software reliability requirement are discussed.
Purpose: As the importance of software has been emphasized recently, the size of the software market is continuously expanding. The development of the software market is being adversely affected by software piracy. In this study, we try to classify countries around the world based on the macro environmental factors, which influence software piracy. We also try to identify the differences in software piracy for each classified type. Design/methodology/approach: The data-driven approach is used in this study. From the BSA, the World Bank, and the OECD, we collect data from 1990 to 2015 for 127 environmental variables of 225 countries. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ analysis, item-to-total correlation analysis, and exploratory factor analysis derive 15 constructs from the data. We apply two-step approach to cluster analysis. The number of clusters is determined to be 5 by hierarchical cluster analysis at the first step, and the countries are classified by the K-means clustering at the second step. We conduct ANOVA and MANOVA in order to verify the differences of the environmental factors and software piracy among derived clusters. Findings: The five clusters are identified as underdeveloped countries, developing countries, developed countries, world powers, and developing country with large market. There are statistically significant differences in the environmental factors among the clusters. In addition, there are statistically significant differences in software piracy rate, pirated value, and legal software sales among the clusters.
