Optimal Ordering Policy in Dual-Sourcing Supply Chain Considering Supply Disruptions and Demand Information

  • It is necessary for retailers to determine the optimal ordering policy of products considering supply disruptions due to a natural disaster and a production process failure as quality and machine breakdowns. Under the situation, a dualsourcing supply chain (DSSC) is one of effective SC for retailers to order products reliably. This paper proposes the optimal ordering policy of a product in a DSSC with a retailer and two manufacturers. Two manufacturers may face supply disruptions due to a natural disater and a production process failure after they received the retailer's order of products. Here, two scenarios of demand information of products are assumed: (i) the demand distribution is known (ii) mean and variance of the demand are known. Under above situations, two types of DSSC are discussed. Under a decentralized DSSC (DSC), a retailer determines the optimal ordering policy to maximize his/her total expected profit. Under the integrated DSSC (ISC), the optimal ordering policy is determined to maximize the whole system's total expected profit. Numerical analysis investigates how demand information and supply disruptions affect the optimal decisions under DSC and ISC. Besides, profitability of supply chain coordination adjusting the wholesale price is evaluated to encourage the optimal decision under ISC.

일반화된 2단계 재고체계에서의 최적주문정책 (The Optimal Ordering Policy for the Generalized Two-Stage Inventory System)

  • We consider the optimal ordering policy for a single-product two-stage inventory system where the main assumptions are as follows: (i) constant continuous demand only at stage 2, (ii) constant input (production) rate at stage 1, (iii) instantaneous delivery (transportation) from stage 1 to stage 2, (iv) backlogging is allowed only at stage 2, (v) an infinite planning horizon. Costs considered are ordering and linear holding costs at both stages, and linear shortage cost only at stages 2. By solving 9 different case problems, we have observed the general from of the optimal ordering policies for our model which minimizes the total cost per unit time. It is noticeable from this observation that the questionable but more often than not adopted assumption by many authors in determining the optimal potimal policy for multistage inventory systems, that the ordering (lot) sizes at each stage remain constant thruout the planning horizon, is not valid.

중첩된 프로세스 그룹 환경에서의 멀티캐스트 알고리즘 (A multicast algorithm in overlapped process group environments)

  • In this paper, we proposed a new multicast algorithm which is efficiently applicable to overlapped process group environments where one process may be involved in several process groups. Unlike the esisting algorithms, the proposed one provides an efficient group communication mechanism by generating the processgroup information in two-level tree. Using this algorithm, we improved the shortcoming of the existing algorithms by reducing the overhead in passing through unnecessary processes for message ordering. We have provided the causal ordering method as well as the total ordering method in group communication environments. As a result, we allow one process to deliver message to other processes with a short delay time, and reduced the overhead required for the message ordering. Also, we logically proved the proposed causal ordering method, and compared the performance of the proposed algorithm with ones of other existing algorithms by computer simulation.

The combinations of EOQ and LTC are 4 cases. Case 1 : Regional Warehouse∼EOQ, Central Warehouse∼EOQ. Case 2 : Regional Warehouse∼EOQ, Central Warehouse∼LTC. Case 3 : Regional Warehouse∼LTC, Central Warehouse∼EOQ. Case4 : Regional Warehouse∼LTC, Central Warehouse∼LTC. The criterion is to minimize total cost per year.

  • In this paper, we suggest the test statistic based on the total time on test (TTT-) transtorm for testing exponentiality against new better than used in convex ordering (NBUC) and its dual, new worse than used in convex ordering (NWUC). The validity of the test is examined by simulation for some alternative distributions when the sample size is n = 10 and n = 20.

Reducing the congestion in a class of job shops

  • Consider a job shop that is modelled as an open queueing network of the Jackson(l957) type. All work stations in the shop have the same number of parallel servers. Two problems are studied : the loading of stations and the assignment of servers, which are represented by loading and assingment vectors, respectively. Ma jorization and arrangement orderings are established to order, respectively, the loading and the assignment vectors. It is shown that reducing the loading vector under ma jorizat ion or increasing the assignment vector under arrangement ordering will reduce the congestion in the shop in terms of reducing the total number of jobs(in the sense of likelihood ratio ordering), the maximum queue length(in the sense of stochastic ordering), and the queue-length vector( in the sense of stochastic majorization). The results can be used to supprot production planning in certain job shops, and to aid the desing of storage capacity.   • Irrational ordering decisions of supply chain members have been gaining growing importance in the area of supply chain management. Irrational ordering behaviors that deviate from the profit maximizing decisions in the newsvendor settings have observed with human experiments in recent research. These behaviors can be modeled with several typical decision bias elements. This bias in ordering decisions affects the performance of supply chain contracts designed based on the assumption that the supply chain members make optimal decisions, making it necessary to design supply chain contracts by considering the irrationality. The purpose of this research is to derive a method to design the revenue sharing contract that considers human irrationality in ordering decisions. This research considers a simple two-echelon supply chain consisting of one supplier and one retailer, where the supplier is assumed to be perfectly rational while the retailer making newsvendor type ordering decisions displays irrational ordering behaviors. Under this environment, this research analytically models the revenue sharing contract to maximize the total supply chain profit or the supplier's own profits while considering the three decision bias patterns of the retailer, which include the pull-to-center effect, the prospect theory, and the increased subjective sensitivity to the revenue sharing ratio. Irrationality parameters are measured through human experiments based on which and through numerical simulations, we showed that significant improvements in the supply chain performance can be achieved.

JIT구매를 고려한 단일 제조업자-다소매업자의 공급사슬에서 통합재고모형 (Generalized Single Manufacturer and Multiple Retailers Supply Chain Model in JIT Purchasing)

  • In this paper, we investigate an inventory system where a single manufacturer purchases and processes raw materials in order to deliver finished goods to multiple retailers. Earlier study in this type of supply chain only consider a single raw material in order to produce finished goods, but we consider multi-raw materials in order to produce finished goods. Also, we develop an iterative solution procedure to find the order quantity for the finished goods and raw materials, and the number of shipments between manufacturer and retailers that minimizes the total cost per unit time of the raw materials ordering and holding, manufacture's setup and finished goods holding, the retailer's ordering and inventory holding. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate that jointly considering the total cost results in less total cost than that of considering them separately.

An EOQ Model for Deteriorating Items with Linearly Increasing Demand

  • In this paper an inventory model is presented for determining the ordering schedule in which the demand rate is changing linearly with time and the decay is assumed to be a constant rate of the on-hand inventory. An easy to use heuristic is developed to find the times and sizes of replenishments so as to keep the total of ordering, inventory carrying and deteriorating costs as low as possible. Solutions of the model to test problems show that our heuristic model outperforms other existing models in the literature without sacrificing the computational complexity. When there is no deterioration, the model developed is related to the corresponding model of nondeteriorating items.

저압 MOCVD 방법으로 성장된 InAlAs 에피층에서 상분리와 규칙 현상의 관찰 (Observation of phase separation and ordering in the InAlAs epilayer grown on InP by MOCVD)

  • We have studied the phase separation and ordering phenomeon of InAlAs epilayers grown on InP substrate by LP-MOCVD with DCXRD, PL, and TEM. From the intensity and FWHM of DCXRD and PL, we observed that the structural and optical quality of InAlAs epilayers were improved as growth temperature increased. The band-gap reduction due to phase separation and ordering is 291, 246, and 28 meV in the InAlAs epilayers grown at $565^{\circ}C$, $615^{\circ}C$, and $700^{\circ}C$, respectively, and shows the same from the InAlAs epilayer town at 5$65^{\circ}C$ in which the HRTEM micrograph showed the lattice fringe between InAs-rich and AlAs-rich regions was tilted by $2^{\circ}$ due to composition difference. However the maximum degree of ordering by intensity of extra spots was obtained at medium growth temperature. The annealing experiment by RTA of sample grown at $565^{\circ}$ shows a maximum band-gap shift of 78eV at $880^{\circ}$ for 3 min, and TEM shows that the origin of the blue shift of band-gap is the complete disappearance of ordering. Through annealing we can conclude that short time annealing affects only ordering and that most of the total band-gap reduction (~3/4) occurs by phase separation.
