MPEG-2 비디오 부호화기의 프레임 메모리 하드웨어 구현 (Implementation of the Frame Memory Hardware for MPEG-2 Video Encoder)

  • 본 논문에서는 MPEG-2 비디오 부호화기에서의 프레임 메모리 하드웨어 구현을 위한 DRAM의 효율적인 메모리 맵과 이에 따른 하드웨어 구조를 제안한다. 논문에서 제시된 메모리 맵은 DRAM 사용 시간과 대역폭을 줄임으로써 시스템의 성능을 개선할 수 있도록 설정되었고, 개발된 하드웨어는 MPEG-2 비디오 부호화기에 구성된 타모듈과 인터페이스를 위해 하드웨어는 VHDL을 이용하여 구현하였으며, $0.5\mu\textrm{m}$, VTI, ASIC 라이브러리인 camn5a3을 이용하여 합성하였다. 개발된 하드웨어에 대한 RT (register transfer) 수준 및 게이트 수준의 검증을 위해 VHDL 시뮬레이터와 로직 합성 툴을 사용하였고, 추후 성능 개선과 기능 검증을 위해서 하드웨어 에뮬레이터를 개발하였다. 구현된 하드웨어 MPEG-2의 MP@ML에서 요구하는 전송률로 데이터를 채널에 전송할 수 있도록 하였다.

신재생에너지 산업 기술 정책의 투자효과 분석에 대한 기초 연구 (The Basic Study on the Ripple Effect of Industrial & Technological Policy for New & Renewable Energy)

  • This study is to propose the quantitative methods instead of total results on New & Renewable energy R&D investments. To do that, this study used KETEP R&D investment profile, National R&D investment profile, and ISTANS industrial census results. From the analysis, this study firstly showed that the R&D investment on New&Renewable energy is higher than that of other industrial parts. And the investment increase ratio on New&Renewable energy is also very higher during past 10 years. And finally showed that the ripple effects(relatively the employee number, the amount of sales, and the amount of export) of the focus energy group including feul cell, photovoltaic, and wind power was higher than those of general manufacturing industry. This approach was firstly conducted using the poor census results, so other analysis methods will be developed and performed to exact;y show the investment ripple effect.

선형 어레이 SliM-II 이미지 프로세서 칩 (A linear array SliM-II image processor chip)

  • This paper describes architectures and design of a SIMD type parallel image processing chip called SliM-II. The chiphas a linear array of 64 processing elements (PEs), operates at 30 MHz in the worst case simulation and gives at least 1.92 GIPS. In contrast to existing array processors, such as IMAP, MGAP-2, VIP, etc., each PE has a multiplier that is quite effective for convolution, template matching, etc. The instruction set can execute an ALU operation, data I/O, and inter-PE communication simulataneously in a single instruction cycle. In addition, during the ALU/multiplier operation, SliM-II provides parallel move between the register file and on-chip memory as in DSP chips, SliM-II can greatly reduce the inter-PE communication overhead, due to the idea a sliding, which is a technique of overlapping inter-PE communication with computation. Moreover, the bandwidth of data I/O and inter-PE communication increases due to bit-parallel data paths. We used the COMPASS$^{TM}$ 3.3 V 0.6.$\mu$m standrd cell library (v8r4.10). The total number of transistors is about 1.5 muillions, the core size is 13.2 * 13.0 mm$^{2}$ and the package type is 208 pin PQ2 (Power Quad 2). The performance evaluation shows that, compared to a existing array processors, a proposed architeture gives a significant improvement for algorithms requiring multiplications.s.

  • 전신적으로 면역이 결핍된 백혈구 접착 결핍증 환아에서는 정기적인 구강 위생 관리는 매우 중요하다. 치면세균막의 제거를 통해 국소적인 자극원을 감소시킴으로써 구강 내 자극에 대한 동통이나 구취 감소가 가능하고 진행되는 치주조직의 파괴 양상을 어느 정도 지연시킬 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 내원을 통한 관리도 중요하지만 잇솔질 교육을 통하여 환자 스스로 가정에서도 구강 위생 관리를 시행토록 하여야 하며 향후 감염원이 될 수 있는 원인을 감소시키는 노력이 필요하다.

Peroxisome Proliferator-activated Receptor ${\gamma}$ Is Not Associated with Adipogenesis in Female Mice

  • The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor ${\gamma}$ $(PPAR{\gamma})$ plays a central role in adipogenesis and lipid storage. The $(PPAR{\gamma})$ ligands, thiazolidinediones (TZDs), enhance in vitro adipogenesis in several cell types, but the role of the TZDs on in vivo adipogenesis is still poorly understood. To investigate how $PPAR{\gamma}$ ligand troglitazone regulates adipogenesis in female mice, we examined the effects of the troglitazone on adipose tissue mass, morphological changes of adipocytes, and the expression of $PPAR{\gamma}$ target and adipocyte-specific genes in low fat diet-fed female C57BL/6 mice. Administration of troglitazone for 13 weeks did not change body and total white adipose tissue weights compared with control mice. Troglitazone treatment also did not cause a significant decrease in the average size of adipocytes in parametrial adipose tissue although it is reported to increase the number of small adipocytes in male animals. Troglitazone did not affect the mRNA expression of $PPAR{\gamma}$ and its target genes as well as adipocyte-specific genes in parametrial adipose tissue. These results suggest that $PPAR{\gamma}$ does not seem to be associated with adipogenesis in females with functioning ovaries and that its inability to induce adipogenesis may be due to sex-related factors.

  • This study was carried out to contribute to the control of Venereal diseases amnog prostitutes living aroung US army camps in Daegu area. The status of those who registrated in our Bongdeok Venereal Diseases Clinic was observed during a year from October 1, 1973 to September 31, 1974. Most of them were playmates of foreign soldiers. Forty eight percent of the total 241 were 20 to 24 years in age. About 70 percent were under elementary school level in educational background. The reason for prostitution was hard living and economic problems in about 94 percent of the cases studied. The cases studied within one year from the present time were 104, 43.3 percent. Although the full number of monthly vistits in eight or nine (Two times a week), the monthly mean was found to be 5.5. The result of cardiolipin test was 4.6 percent positive and 9.3 percent, false positive. Gram negative diplococci was found to be 4.3 percent, pus cell, 49 percent and staphylocci 18.1 percent. The patients were chiefly cured by ampicillin and kanamycin, although procain penicillin was also used. More control mathods must be introduced and promoted along with tracing methods and cultures for gonorrhea.

Effects of Chrysanthemum boreale M. Water Extract on Serum Liver Enzyme Activities and Kupffer Cells of Carbon Tetrachloride-Induced Rats

  • Effects of water extract obtained from Chrysanthemum boreale M. (CE) on serum enzyme activities and Kupffer cells of carbon tetrachloride ($CCl_4$)-induced rats were investigated. Thirty-two healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into normal (N), $CCl_4$-induced (T), CE-supplemented (C), and $CCl_4$-induced and CE-supplemented (TC) groups. $CCl_4$ injection significantly increased aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, lactate dehydrogenase, and alkaline phosphatase activities in serum. Significant increases in total cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations were also observed in $CCl_4$-induced rats. Oral administration of CE at 300 mg/kg body weight significantly decreased serum enzyme levels and suppressed $CCl_4$ hepatotoxicity-induced lipid profile changes. Histological findings showed fatty change, fibrosis and increased number of Kupffer cells in T group. Electron microscopic examination showed increased lysosome content and dilation of rough endoplasmic reticulum within Kupffer cells in T group, whereas CE supplement attenuated liver injury in $CCl_4$-induced liver. These results indicated CE could significantly alleviate CC4-induced hepatotoxicity injury.

비장착 나셀의 역추력기 형상에 대한 3차원 Euler 유동해석 (Performance Evaluation of a Thrust Reverser Using an Euler Solver)

  • An Euler-based CFD tool has been developed for the performance evaluation of a thrust reverser mounted on a high bypass ratio turbofan engine. The computational domain surrounded by the ground and non-reflection boundary includes the whole nacelle configuration with a deployed thrust reverser. The numerical algorithm is based on the modified Godunovs scheme to allow the second order accuracy in both space and time. The grid system is generated by using eleven multi-blocks, of which the total cell number is 148,400. The thrust reverser is modeled as if it locates at the nacelle simply in all circumferential direction. The existence of a fan and an OGV(Outlet Guide Vane) is simulated by adopting the actuator disk concept, in which predetermined radial distributions of stagnation pressure ratio and adiabatic efficiency coefficient are used for the rotor type disk, and stagnation pressure losses and flow outlet angles for the stator type disk. All boundary conditions including the fan and OGV simulation are treated by Riemann solver. The developed solver is applied to a turbofan engine with a bypass ratio of about 5.7 and the diameter of the fan cowl of 83 inch. The computational results show that the Euler-based inviscid method is very useful and economical to evaluate the performance of thrust reversers.

시판 까나리(Ammodytes personatus) 액젓의 biogenic amines 함량 (Biogenic Amine Contents of Commercial Salted and Fermented Sand Lance Ammodytes personatus Sauces)

  • This study investigated the quality of seven commercial salted and fermented sand lance Ammodytes personatus sauces by measuring their chemical compositions, bacteria concentrations, and biogenic amine contents. The sauces had a 63.97-67.32% (mean: 65.72%) moisture content, 23.16-24.03% (mean: 23.60%) salinity, 5.51-6.14 (mean: 5.81) pH, 164.76-217.98 mg/100 g (mean: 182.97 mg/100 g) volatile basic nitrogen, 0.94-1.42% (mean: 1.24%) total nitrogen, and 673.77-791.86 mg/100 g (mean: 720.76 mg/100 g) amino nitrogen content. Viable cell counts ranged from $1.2{\times}10^1$ to $2.9{\times}10^2CFU/mL$, and number of biogenic amine-forming bacteria was very low or not detected. Overall, the tested samples had average levels of histamine of 301.02 mg/kg, cadaverine of 29.78 mg/kg, tyramine of 199.21 mg/kg, putrescine of 183.00 mg/kg, and tyramine of 13.01 mg/kg. This strongly suggests that it is necessary to monitor the biogenic amine contents of commercial salted and fermented sand lance sauces carefully to ensure consumer health.

Effect of combined sodium hyaluronate and carboxymethyl cellulose on ocular surface in rat dry eye model

  • This study was conducted to evaluate three different mixed formulations of sodium hyaluronate (SH) and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) using a low-humidity air flow-induced rat dry eye model and determine the most suitable mixture. The total thickness of the cornea, corneal epithelial thickness, corneal stroma thickness, damaged corneal epithelium percentage region, thickness of the bulbar conjunctiva epithelium, number of goblet cells, goblet cell occupation percentage region, and damaged bulbar conjunctiva epithelium percentage region were measured by histomorphological evaluation. After 5 h exposure to drying airflow, the thickness of the cornea and conjunctiva was decreased with desquamation of the corneal and conjunctiva epithelium. However, these dry eye symptoms were markedly inhibited by treatment with the reference and test formulations. More favorable effects on decreased thickness were detected in response to the CMC than the SH. However, SH had a greater protective effect against corneal and conjunctiva epithelial damage. The application of a mixture of 0.1% SH and 0.2% CMC showed more favorable effects on the corneal and conjunctival damage and the stabilization of the ocular surface than SH or CMC alone.
