  • This paper describes a new method for enhancing the accuracy of network analysis applications in energy management systems. Topology processing, state estimation, power flow analysis, and contingency analysis play a key factor in the stable and reliable operation of power systems. In this respect, the aim of topology processing is to provide the electrical buses and the electrical islands with the actual state of the power system as input data. The results of topology processing is used to input of other applications. New method, which includes the topology error analysis based on inconsistency check, coherency check, bus mismatch check, and outaged device check is proposed to enhance the accuracy of network analysis. The proposed methodology is conducted by energy management systems and the Korean power systems have been utilized for the test systems.

  • Topology management, which includes neighbor discovery, tracking and updating, is a key area that need to be dealt with appropriately to increase network performance. The use of directional antenna in Wireless Mesh Networks is beneficial in constructing backbone networks viewing the properties of directional antenna. The backbone links must be robust to obtain better network performance. In this paper, a simple yet effective topology protocol is presented that performs well compared to its predecessors. Our protocol constructs the topology with the constraints in the number of links per node. The full topology is constructed in two phases. The resultant topology is termed as Web-topology. The topology formed is robust, efficient, and scalable.

  • Automatic discovery of physical topology plays a crucial role in enhancing the manageability of modern metro Ethernet networks. Despite the importance of the problem, earlier research and commercial network management tools have typically concentrated on either discovering logical topology, or proprietary solutions targeting specific product families. Recent works have demonstrated that network topology can be determined using the standard simple network management protocol (SNMP) management information base (MIB), but these algorithms depend on address forwarding table (AFT) entries and can find only spanning tree paths in an Ethernet mesh network. A previous work by Breibart et al. requires that AFT entries be complete; however, that can be a risky assumption in a realistic Ethernet mesh network. In this paper, we have proposed a new physical topology discovery algorithm which works without complete knowledge of AFT entries. Our algorithm can discover a complete physical topology including inactive interfaces eliminated by the spanning tree protocol in metro Ethernet networks. The effectiveness of the algorithm is demonstrated by implementation.

  • A design method of network Topology for Integrated Management of various Networks is prposed and an example is shown. The TMN-DCN devices are assigned for each of the various networks. These devices have functions of network management. Also we propose the simple design methods of the network topology with survivability as one of the network management elements. The design methods are very simple but very useful. Because there is no general design algorithm for optimal topology with network survivability.

  • NMS (Network Management System) is a system that is used for a small or large networks management. As the size of network becomes larger and the configuration information become complicated, it becomes more difficult to grasp the network status and it takes much time to diagnose the failure of the network equipment. In this paper, to alleviate the problems of NMS we implement web-based network topology automatically using JavaScript, Python, HTML5 based TWaver. The detailed implementation of the system include the automatic collection of the connection information based on the equipment information registered in the NMS system, the implementation of the web-based network topology and the remote fault diagnosis. In the network topology, we can expect to improve the quality of the NMS system through structured data management by adding the configuration management, fault management and performance management functions in a comprehensive manner.

  • In P2P streaming management, peer's churning and finding efficient topology architecture optimization algorithm that reduces streaming delay is important. This paper studies a topology optimization algorithm based on the P2P streaming using peer's link information. The proposed algorithm is based on the estimation of peer's upload bandwidth using peer's link information on mesh-network. The existing algorithm that uses the information of connected links is efficient to reduce message overload in the point of resource management. But it has a risk of making unreliable topology not considering upload bandwidth. And when some network error occurs in a server-closer-peer, it may make the topology worse. In this paper we propose an algorithm that makes up for the weak point of the existing algorithm. We compare the existing algorithm with the proposed algorithm using test data and analyze each simulation result.

  • In recent years, the multilevel converters have been given more attention due to their modularity, reliability, failure management and multi stepped output waveform with less total harmonic distortion. This paper presents a novel symmetric multilevel inverter topology with reduced switching components to generate a high quality stepped sinusoidal voltage waveform. The series and parallel combinations of switches in the proposed topology reduce the total number of conducting switches in each level of output voltages. In addition, a comparison between the proposed topology with another topology from the literature is presented. To verify the proposed topology, the computer based simulation model is developed using MATLAB/Simulink and experimentally with a prototype model results are then compared.

  • In this paper. we develop an analytical model to evaluate the virtual topology reconfiguration phase of optical Internet networks. To counter the continual approximation problem brought by traditional heuristic approach, we take the traffic prediction into consideration and propose a new heuristic reconfiguration algorithm called Prediction based Multi-stage Reconfiguration approach. We then use this analytical model to study the different configuration operation policies in response to the changing traffic patterns in the higher layer and the congestion level on the virtual topology. This algorithm persists to decide the optimal instant of reconfiguration easily based on the network state. Simulation results show that our virtual topology management Policy significantly outperforms the conventional one, while the required physical resources are limited.

  • Internet evolves into the huge network with new nodes inserted or deleted depending on specific situations. A new model of network topology is needed in order to analyze time-varying Internet more realistically and effectively. In this study the non-monotony models are proposed which can describe topological changes of Internet such as node insertion and deletion, and can be used for predicting its future topology. Simulation is performed to analyze the topology generated by our model. Simulation results show that our proposed model conform the power law of realistic Internet better than conventional ones. The non-monotony model can be utilized for designing Internet protocols and networks with better security.

  • With the rapid development of science and technology in recent years, the network environment are growing, and a huge amount of traffic is generated. In particular, the development of 5G networks and edge computing will accelerate this phenomenon. However, according to these trends, network malicious behaviors and traffic overloads are also frequently occurring. To solve these problems, network administrators need to build a network management system to implement a high-speed network and should know exactly about the connection topology of network devices through the network management system. However, the existing network topology discovery method is inefficient because it is passively managed by an administrator and it is a time consuming task. Therefore, we proposes a method of network topology discovery according to the amount of in and out network traffic. The proposed method is applied to a real network to verify the validity of this paper.
