Increasing meat demand in terms of both quality and quantity in conjunction with feeding a growing population has resulted in regulatory agencies imposing stringent guidelines on meat quality and safety. Objective and accurate rapid non-destructive detection methods and evaluation techniques based on artificial intelligence have become the research hotspot in recent years and have been widely applied in the meat industry. Therefore, this review surveyed the key technologies of non-destructive detection for meat quality, mainly including ultrasonic technology, machine (computer) vision technology, near-infrared spectroscopy technology, hyperspectral technology, Raman spectra technology, and electronic nose/tongue. The technical characteristics and evaluation methods were compared and analyzed; the practical applications of non-destructive detection technologies in meat quality assessment were explored; and the current challenges and future research directions were discussed. The literature presented in this review clearly demonstrate that previous research on non-destructive technologies are of great significance to ensure consumers' urgent demand for high-quality meat by promoting automatic, real-time inspection and quality control in meat production. In the near future, with ever-growing application requirements and research developments, it is a trend to integrate such systems to provide effective solutions for various grain quality evaluation applications.
Using imprint cultures and epithelial smears, the density and prevalence of colonization of oral mucosal sites and denture surfaces by Candida albicans has been determined in 28 healthy dentate subjects and 20 denture wearers. With questionnaire, oral and denture examination, the relationship between the carrier rates and several factors; DMFT, oral hygiene index, salivary pH & denture plaque score were studied. But these factors have not significant relationship to the carrier rates. Imprint culture appears to be sensitive technique for detecting candidal carriers and be useful for distinguishing between the healthy carrier state and candidal infection. Cigarette smokers had a significantly increased carrier state (P<0.05) compared with nonsmoker in male dentate subjects. Female were more frequent carriers than male in dentate and denture group, but these differences were not significant. In denture wearers, there was a higher density and frequency of candidal colonization of all mucosal sites sampled, compared with that of healthy dentate group especially anterior palate and posterior palate showed highly significant differences in frequency of candidal colonization (P<0.05). The distribution of Candida albicans is not uniform throughout the mouth. The tongue in the healthy dentate subjects and the impression surfaces of upper dentures are the primary oral reservoirs for the fungus. Overnight wearing of dentures was associated with increased density and frequency of candidal colonization and density.
This study was performed to investigate the emotional state related to dental fear, hospital anxiety and depresison, and frequency of stress symproms of orofacial region. For this study, Dnetal Fear Surfey(DFS) scale, the Hospital ANxiety and Depression(HAD) scale, and Stress Symptom Questionnaire(SSQ) designed by the author were used in 549 dental outpatients. Dental Fear Survey scale is composed of avoidance of dentistry(AVOI), physiologic response scale(PRS) and dental stimulus response scale(DSRS). The Hospital anxiety and Depresiosn scale is composed of hospital anxiety(HA) and hospital depressoin (HD). Data were analyzed statistically with SPSS program and the results were as follows : 1. The item of the highest positive response rate in DFS scale was 'feeling drill'(82.0%), and in the HAD scale was ' feel as if I am slowed down'(84.1%). 2. Mean score of AVOI, PRS, DSRS and HD were higher in the older group(>25yr) than the yoiunger group(<25yr) and female patients showed higher score of DSRS, HA than male patients. 3. Mean number of items of stress symptoms in extraoral region were 3.4, and in intraoral region, were 4.7. Tongue wymptoms were increased in the older toup and female patients had more stress symptoms than male patients. 4. Correlation between DFS scale and HAD scale were significantly positive and these scales were also apositively correlated with tongue symptoms. 5. As for treatment types, the patients treated in the department of periodontics, conservative dentistry, and oral surgery showed higher score of DFS scale than the patients with temporomandibular disorders or treatedin the department of orthodontics.

The purpose of this study was to approve the possibility of clinical application of selftesting technique to confirm the cleanness status of the tooth surface after mechanical toothbrushing. Thirty-two periodontal patients who did not compromise any other systemic diseases were divided into two groups. Control group was instructed only the Bass method for toothbrushing, and then experimental group was demonstrated the Bass method and self-testing technique respectively for plaque control during this experiment. Selftesting technique is composed the comparison of roughness of the labial surface of maxillary central incisor and other toothsurface with touch sense using the tip of tongue. Plaque score and Gingival index were measured as clinical parameters at baseline and 1, 2 and 4 weeks after scaling and root planing. The results were as follows ; 1. Plaque scores and gingival index of 1, 2, and 4 weeks of two groups were statistically significant differences when compared with baseline value (p<0.05). 2. Plaque scores and gingival index of baseline and 1 week between two groups were not significant differences (p<0.05). 3. Plaque scores and gingival index of 2 and 4 weeks of test group were statistically significant difference when compared with control group (p<0.05). From the above results, self-testing technique which decides necessity of additional toothbrushing when tongue tip of subjects touch the maxillary molar buccal surfaces and mandibular molar lingual surfaces nd compares with maxillary anterior labial surfaces after toothbrushing appeared to effect the motivation of subjects. This study suggests that self-testing technique for cleanness after toothbrushing should be effect on the maintenance of oral hygiene when it is applied to clinical practice.
Background : The most frequently reported risk factors for head and neck suamous cell carcinoma are smoking and alcohol. But in a recent overview, human papilloma virus(HPV) infection was revealed the important carcinogenic factor in oropharyngeal cancer. We aimed to clarify whether HPV directly effects on the oncogenesis and biologic behavior of hean and neck squamous cell carcinoma by comparison with infection prevalence, and physical status of virus. Material and Method : We used HPV genotyping DNA chip(Biocore, Korea, Seoul) arrayed by multiple oligonucleotide probes of L1 sequence of 26 types of HPV and HPV genotypes are identified by fluorescence scanner. The copy numbers of HPV E2 and E6 open reading frames(ORF) were assessed using a TaqMan-based 5'-exonuclease quantitative real-time PCR assay. The ratio of E2 to E6 copy numbers was calculated to determine the physical status of HPV-16 viral gene. Results : We observed a significant difference in HPV prevalence between tonsillar cancer group and control group(73.1% vs. 11.6%), and most of the HPVs were type 16(87.2%) and integrated(94.1%) state. In terms of oral tongue cancer, we demonstrate that 30.5% has integrated HPV-16 in cancer tissue. But Glottic cancer only 1% is related to HPV-16 integration. Conclusion : This study revealed significant relationship of HPV prevalence with oropharyngeal and oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma. Most of HPV were 16 type and integrated or mixed, HPV-16 integration could be directly related to the carcinogenesis.

Objectives: The aim of this research was to determine intra-oral factors that affect halitosis in young women. Methods: This study was performed between March 2014 to May 2014, and included 35 women in their 20s with good oral health. Correlation and logistic regression analyses were performed to investigate the change in halitosis immediately, and 1 hour after scaling. Results: In both oral gas (OG) and extraoral gas (EG) groups, halitosis was reduced after scaling compared to before scaling. The logistic regression analysis of oral state factors in OG showed that as oral fluid [odds ratio (OR) = 0.792, p = 0.045] and dental plaque (OR = 0.940, p = 0.016) decreased by 1 unit, the OR in the OG group decreased (> 50). In addition, as glucose levels in the oral cavity (OR = 1.245, p = 0.075) and tongue coating index (OR = 2.912, p = 0.064) increased by 1 unit, the OR in the OG group increased (> 50). Furthermore, in the EG group, as oral fluid (OR = 0.66, p = 0.01) and dental plaque (OR = 0.95, p = 0.04) decreased, the OR in the EG group decreased (> 50) significantly. Conclusion: To control halitosis, it is necessary to increase oral fluid and decrease the amount of tongue plaque. Furthermore, maintaining a healthy oral environment, aided by regular scaling and removal of dental plaque, may significantly control halitosis.
Purpose: Salivation is considered to be an important factor in the control of halitosis, and the amount of salivation has been shown to be closely related to the level of hydration. The purpose of our study was to evaluate the relationship between dehydration and halitosis. Methods: Twenty healthy young females with no dental problems were recruited. All participants were induced to become dehydrated and then over-hydrated. After inducing each hydration state, the severity of hydration and halitosis factor (organoleptic scores, amounts of resting and functional saliva, gas examinations, and tongue coatings) were measured. Hydration statuses were graded as dehydration, normal, or over-hydration according to urine osmolality. This was a cross sectional study with a cross over design. Results: The dehydrated status was associated with higher organoleptic scores than the normal or over-hydrated status (1.75±0.75 vs. 0.87±0.63, and 0.65±0.53, respectively. p<0.05). Mean values of CH3SH, (CH3)2S in portable gas chromatography for the dehydrated, normal, and over-hydrated status were 11.70±37.00, 6.75±13.50, and 2.80±5.87 nmol/mol, 10.50±15.59, 7.25±10.87, and 1.50±2.55 nmol/mol, respectively. p>0.05). (CH3)2S (r=0.410, p=0.009) showed a moderate positive correlation with dehydration status. The resting salivation rates were relatively lower for the dehydrated status than for the normal or overhydrated status (p>0.05), and tongue coating results were also higher for the dehydrated status (p>0.05). Conclusions: Dehydration status appears to be positively correlated with a low resting salivation rate and high portable gas chromatography results. This shows that dehydration might be an etiologic factor of halitosis.

A glucanhydrolase (a DXAMase exhibiting both dextranolytic and amylolytic activities) from Lipomyces starkeyi KSM 22 hydrolyzed polysaccharides having ${\alpha}-(1{\rightarrow}3)-,\;{\alpha}(1{\rightarrow}4)-,\;and\;{\alpha}-(1{\rightarrow}6)$-D-glucosidic linkages. The oral hygiene benefits of DXAMase-containing mouthwash were examined in relation to human experimental gingivitis during a 3-week period without brushing. The DXAMase-treated group exhibited a lower increase in plaque accumulation and gingival index score than the chlorhexidine-treated group. The DXAMase-treated group also showed less tongue accumulation, bad taste, and tooth staining, thus indicating a positive role for DXAMase as an antiplaque agent ingredient.

This study is concerned with effects of impeller blade thickness on performance of a turbo blower. This turbo blower is developed as an air supply system in 250 kW MCFC system. The turbo blower consists of an impeller, two vaneless diffusers, a vaned diffuser and a volute. The three dimensional, steady state numerical analysis is simultaneously conducted for the impeller, diffuser and volute to investigate the performance of total system. To consider the non-uniform condition in volute inlet due to volute tongue, full diffuser passages are included in the calculation. The results of numerical analysis are validated with experimental results of thin blade thickness. Total pressure ratio, efficiency, slip factor and blade loading are compared in two cases. The slip factor is different in two cases and the comparison of two cases shows a good performance in thin blade thickness in all aspects.
This study was peformed in order to find out the relationship between the causing factors and the production of each gas 01 oral malodor, to contribute the oral malodor control at dental clinic as well as to establish the effective application of malodor control project for public oral health program 127 patients from 20 to 40 years old who had been visited for preventive dental cares were participated for the study. Such items as caries status, periodontal status, salivary flow, viscosity, pH. Snyder test, plaque deposit and tongue plaque were checked through the oral examination in order to find out the contributing factors Hydrogen sulfide, Methyl mercaptan, Di-methyl sulfide and Ammonia gas components were checked with Oral-Chroma and Attain, the oral malodor check units. Not only the corelation coefficiencies but also the multi-way variance analysis were calculated between each causing factor and each component of oral malodor gases to estimate the contributing factors of the oral malodor. 1. There was no relationship between the caries status and each component pf the oral malodor such as sulfur compound or Ammonia, both in laboratory test and VAS test (pF0.05). It revealed negative relationship between Hydrogen sulfide and FT(rM-0.1904. pE0.05) as well as the VAS and FT (rM-0.210. pE0.05). S0, it was estimated that the less oral malador was recognized when caries state changed to filled state in Hydrogen sulfide laboratory test or VAS test 2. High relationship was showed between salivary flow and Hydrogen sulfide (rM-0.183, pM0.039), Methyl mercaptan(rM-0.234, p-0.008). Dimethyl sulfide(rM-0.234, pM0.008) and Ammonia(-0.361. pM0.001) gas(pE0.05). 3. There was a high relationship between M-PHP(Modified-Patient Hygiene Performance Index) and tong plaque all kinds of sulfide(rM0.249. pM0.005). Ammonia gas component(rM0.232, pM0.009). 4. It was found that considerable relationship was appeared between the periodontal status and Ammonia gas (rM0.274, pM0.002), so, it should be needed to control Ammonia. Such dental Cares as the prevention or early treatment of periodontal disease and the accelerating the salivary flow as well as reducing the amounts and activities of filament or spiral typed oral micro-organism were recommended for adults, not only for dental care program at the dental clinics but also for public health programs, in order to promote the oral health and quality of file for individual and community peoples.
