Inorganic Thin film for Horizontal Aligned Liquid Crystal with Non-rubbing Technologies (무기막에서의 수형배향된 액정의 특성에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, we investigated the electro-optical (EO) characteristic of fringe-field switching (FFS) mode cell by the ion beam alignment method on the a-C:H thin film. The suitable inorganic thin films for FFS cell and the aligning capabilities of nematic liquid crystal (NLC) using the new alignment material of a-C:H thin film were studied. An excellent voltage-transmittance (V-T) and response time curve of the ion beam aligned FFS-LCD was observed with oblique ion beam exposure on the a-C:H thin films. Also, the V-T hysteresis characteristics of the ion beam-aligned FFS-LCD with IB exposure on the a-C:H thin films is almost the same as that of the rubbing-aligned FFS cell on a polyimide surface.

  • Nematic liquid crystal (NLC) alignment effects on SiOF layers via ion-beam (IB) irradiation for four types of incident energy were successfully studied. The effect of fluorine addition on silicon oxide film properties as a function of $SiOF_4/O_2$ gas flow ration was investigated. The SiOF thin film exhibits good chemical and the thermal stability of the SiOF thin film were sustained as function of the NLC alignment until $200^{\circ}C$ Also, the response-time characteristics of aligned LCD based on SiOF film were studied.

  • In this paper we present the search on HC-06 Bluetooth based driver module for emergency LED Multi-Directional Indicator. Nowadays, a growing trends in which electronic displays such as LED, LCD or plasma monitors are being installed in public places like bars, stores, entertainment areas, restaurants, lobbies, etc. In this paper, the study is curried out on efficiency of HC-06 Bluetooth module based controller driver that relates generally to the field of emergency signage management systems for displaying various indicator contents remotely on electronic displays in public and privates venues. It allows user smart devices interaction remotely with digital signage by providing content for displaying on at least one display in a venue. Depending on the emergency case, HC-06 Bluetooth based driver module proves the high efficiency as well as good performance of processing and communicating remotely the indicator based message that is displayed from a venue management control system by using smart devices. The system combines smart device that linked to HC-06 Bluetooth module with ATmega168/328 embedded micro controller which result by switching the displayer containing the digital signage indicator based message.

  • In this paper, a new torque predictive control method of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor is developed based on an extended rotor flux. Also, a duty ratio prediction method is proposed and allows the duty ratio of the active stator voltage vector to be continuously calculated. The proposed method makes it possible to relatively reduce the torque ripple under the steady state as well as to remain the good dynamic response in the transient state. With the duty ratio prediction method, the magnitude and time interval of the active stator voltage vector applied can be continuously controlled against the varying operation conditions. This paper shows a comparative study among the switching table direct torque control(DTC), the SVM-DTC, conventional torque predictive control, and the proposed torque predictive control. Simulation results show validity and effectiveness of this work.

  • This paper proposes a new gate drive circuit for high power IGBTs which can reduce the harmful effect of reverse recovery current at turn-on and actively suppress the overvoltage across the driven IGBT at turn-off without a snubber circuit. The turn-on scheme decreases the rising rate of the collector current by inereasing the input capacitance at turn-on transient when the gate-emitter voltage goes above threshold voltage. It results in soft transient of the reverse recovery current with no variation in turn-on delay time. The turn-off driving scheme has adaptive feature to the amplitude of collector current, so that the overvoltage can be limited much effectively at the fault collector current. Experimental results under various normal and fault conditions prove the effectiveness of the proposed circuit.

  • Film characteristics of thin reoxidized nitrided oxides were investigated by SIMS analysis and C-V method in order to use the gate dielectric for charge-trap type NVSMs instead of ONO stacked layers. Nitric oxide(NO) annealed film has the nitrogen content sharply peaked at the Si-SiO$_2$ interface, while it is broad for nitrous oxide($N_2$O) ambient. The nitrogen peak concentration increased with anneal temperature and time. The position of nitrogen content in the oxide layer was due to be precisely controlled. For the films annealed NO ambient at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 30min. followed by reoxidized at 85$0^{\circ}C$, the maximum memory window of 3.5V was obtained and the program condition was +12V, 1msec for write and -l3V, 1msec for erase.

  • lateral insulated gate bipolar transistors(LIGBTs) are extensively used in high voltage power IC application due to their low forward voltage drops. One of the main disadvantages of the LIGBT is its scow switching speed when compared to the LDMOSFET. And the LIGBT with reverse channel structure is lower current capability than the conventional LIGBT at the forward conduction mode. In this paper, the LIGBT which included p+ ring and p-channel gate is presented at the reverie channel structure. The presented LIGBT structure is proposed to suppress the latch up, efficiently and to improve the turn off time. It is shown to improve the current capability too. It is verified 2-D simulator, MEDICI. It is shown that the latch up current of new LIGBT is 10 times than that of the conventional LIGBT Additionally, it is shown that the turn off characteristics of the proposed LIGBT is i times than that of the conventional LIGBT. It is net presented the tail current of turn off characteristics at the proposed structure. And the presented LIGBT is not n+ buffer layer because it includes p channel gate and p+ ring.

A Generalized Space Vector Modulation Scheme Based on a Switch Matrix for Cascaded H-Bridge Multilevel Inverters

  • The cascaded H Bridge (CHB) multilevel inverter (MLI) is popular among the classical MLI topologies due to its modularity and reliability. Although space vector modulation (SVM) is the most suitable modulation scheme for MLIs, it has not been used widely in industry due to the higher complexity involved in its implementation. In this paper, a simple and novel generalized SVM algorithm is proposed, which has both reduced time and space complexity. The proposed SVM involves the generalization of both the duty cycle calculation and switching sequence generation for any n-level inverter. In order to generate the gate pulses for an inverter, a generalized switch matrix (SM) for the CHB inverter is also introduced, which further simplifies the algorithm. The algorithm is tested and verified for three-phase, three-level and five-level CHB inverters in simulations and hardware implementation. A comparison of the proposed method with existing SVM schemes shows the superiority of the proposed scheme.

A Novel Modulation Method for Three-Level Inverter Neutral Point Potential Oscillation Elimination

  • A novel algorithm is proposed to regulate the neutral point potential in neutral point clamped three-level inverters. Oscillations of the neutral point potential and an unbalanced dc-link voltage cause distortions of the output voltage. Large capacitors, which make the application costly and bulky, are needed to eliminate oscillations. Thus, the algorithm proposed in this paper utilizes the finite-control-set model predictive control and the multistage medium vector to solve these issues. The proposed strategy consists of a two-step prediction and a cost function to evaluate the selected multistage medium vector. Unlike the virtual vector method, the multistage medium vector is a mixture of the virtual vector and the original vector. In addition, its amplitude is variable. The neutral point current generated by it can be used to adjust the neutral point potential. When compared with the virtual vector method, the multistage medium vector contributes to decreasing the regulation time when the modulation index is high. The vectors are rearranged to cope with the variable switching frequency of the model predictive control. Simulation and experimental results verify the validity of the proposed strategy.

Exponential Stabilization of a Class of Underactuated Mechanical Systems using Dynamic Surface Control

  • This paper proposes a simpler solution to the stabilization problem of a special class of nonlinear underactuated mechanical systems which includes widely studied benchmark systems like Inertia Wheel Pendulum, TORA and Acrobot. Complex internal dynamics and lack of exact feedback linearizibility of these systems makes design of control law a challenging task. Stabilization of these systems has been achieved using Energy Shaping and damping injection and Backstepping technique. Former results in hybrid or switching architectures that make stability analysis complicated whereas use of backstepping some times requires closed form explicit solutions of highly nonlinear equations resulting from partial feedback linearization. It also exhibits the phenomenon of explosions of terms resulting in a highly complicated control law. Exploiting recently introduced Dynamic Surface Control technique and using control Lyapunov function method, a novel nonlinear controller design is presented as a solution to these problems. The stability of the closed loop system is analyzed by exploiting its two-time scale nature and applying concepts from Singular Perturbation Theory. The design procedure is shown to be simpler and more intuitive than existing designs. Design has been applied to important benchmark systems belonging to the class demonstrating controller design simplicity. Advantages over conventional Energy Shaping and Backstepping controllers are analyzed theoretically and performance is verified using numerical simulations.
