This study was carried out to investigate the influence of barley yellow mosaic virus(BaYMV) on agronomic characters in naked barley. A naked barley cultivar, Beagdong was evaluated for disease systems at naturally infected field, National Honam Agricultural Experiment Station. SPAD value of the infected plants by BaYMV was low as compared to healthy plants. Heading time was delayed by 10-11 days. Dry matter weight per plant, culm length, and number of spike per plant were reduced in the infected plants by 75%, 68%, and 49%, respectively. Length of internode was reduced in the first to the sixth internode from the upper part, especially, that in the third to the fifth internode was mostly reduced by 75-80%. Also, length of awn, number of kernels, 1000-kernel weight, and kernel weight per plant of the infected plant were reduced by 17-19%, 47%, 60%, and 78%, respectively. Lightness and redness for kernel color value of Baegdong were low and high, respectively.
This paper is an analysis of the influence of ceiling air conditioner airflow on fire detector response. In order to analyze the response characteristics of fire detector while forming air flow of a ceiling-type air conditioner, fire tests were carried out in accordance with ISO standard. This experiment was carried out in a fire test site of 10 m (width) ${\times}$ 7 m (length) ${\times}$ 4 m (height). As a result of the experiment, the response of fire detector shows a normal pattern that is delayed as the distance from the fire source is increased in the absence of the air conditioner, but it is confirmed that the pattern is not maintained in the strong air flow. When the air flow of air conditioner was strong, the response time was increased by 121% in the smoke detector and by 39% in the heat detector. In the case of ceiling type air conditioners, it is considered that the number of fire detectors should be increased, or a detector with high sensitivity should be installed for early detection of fire.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of patients who canceled their ED visits and to determine the factors that influence ED cancellation. Methods: Retrospective study that analyzed data from the electronic medical records(EMR) and Prehospital Care Reports(PCRs) of 305 patients who cancelled their appointments at a single emergency medical center over a six-month period from October 12, 2022, to April 12, 2023. Results: ED cancellations were 2.287 times higher if the patient presented to the ambulance after outpatient hours(09:00~17:00) (p=.007), and ED cancellations were 3.712 times higher if the patient presented to the ambulance under the influence of alcohol(p=.011). For patients' symptoms, medical diseases were associated with a 1.965 times increase in cancelled ED visits compared to other modes of transport (p=.005), while mental and chronic diseases were associated with a 67.3% decrease in cancelled ED visits compared to other modes of transport (OR=0.327, CI=[0.130-0.822], p=.018). symptomatic improvement was associated with a 2.482 times increase in presentations to a 119 ambulance compared to delayed waiting time(p=.022). Conclusion: Emergency medical centers should consider improving the legal system, such as increasing emergency medical care fees, to reduce the number of patients who cancel their appointments.

This study conducted experiments on the reclaimed land of Saemangeum located in Jeongrabuk-do in order to gain basic information about growth characteristics and yield ability according to soil salinity. Having soil excluding salt as a control group, this study adjusted the specimens' soil salinity to level 4 and then planted four varieties including Ilmichal Corn to investigate the growth or grain yield according to salinity. About the corn establishment rate according to soil salinity, over 97% up to $3.2dS\;m^{-1}$ was established, and then, it was reduced gradually according to the increase of concentration. According to the salt concentration of soil more required growth duration from seeding to heading comparing to non-treatment salt was delayed, at $1.6dS\;m^{-1}$, two days were delayed, at $3.2dS\;m^{-1}$, four to six days were delayed differently by varieties, and at $4.8dS\;m^{-1}$, six to 10 days were delayed. About the plant fresh weight according to soil salinity, Chalok 4 and Eolrukchal indicated 93%~97% or so compared with the salt-free one at $1.6dS\;m^{-1}$, and Chalok No. 4 showed 79% at the salinity of $3.2dS\;m^{-1}$, too, and it was a relatively higher growth percentage than those of the other varieties. In terms of dried seed weight according to soil salinity, compared with the corns cultivated in the control group, averagely 12.1% was lowered at the time of cultivation at $1.6dS\;m^{-1}$, and $3.2dS\;m^{-1}$ 40% was lowered, and about 70% was lowered at $4.8dS\;m^{-1}$. According to the result of examining the point of time that dried seed start to reduce due to soil salinity with the regression equation, soil salinity which starts the reduction of grain weight is $1.67dS\;m^{-1}{\sim}2.18dS\;m^{-1}$, and it differs by varieties, and EC of 50% that the yield reduces in half is $2.96dS\;m^{-1}{\sim}4.45dS\;m^{-1}$. And the degree of influence on each of the growth factors according to soil salinity is founded to be in the order of establishment rate
Delayed arrival of blood samples from the field and a large number of samples delivered often causes delay in sample analysis leading to inaccurate measurements. Therefore, this study aimed to assess whether prolonged storage in refrigerator could influence the stability of cattle blood samples and to establish an optimal time limit for complete blood count (CBC) parameters and blood gas and electrolyte (BGE) parameters analyses. Samples collected from healthy cows were tested immediately for CBC and BGE using automated hematology, blood gas and electrolyte analyzers. Samples were kept in refrigerator at 4℃ and analyzed after 6 h, 12 h, 24 h, 48 h, 72 h, 120 h, and 192 h of storage. Mean differences between observations were assessed at 5% significance level using ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. Total CBC parameters and the platelet profile remained stable for 192 h, except for MCHC. Among leukocyte-related counts, NEU and EOS remained stable for 192 hours. WBC and LYM, and MONO values produced inconsistent measurements which recovered its initial measurement after 12 h and 24 h of storage, respectively, then remained stable until 120 h. Among the blood gas indices, PCO2, PO2, tCO2, and BE showed declining and significant changes over time, but pH, tHb, and SO2 remained stable for 192 h. Electrolyte status in the blood showed that ions are unstable and tend to change in as early as 6 h of storage. This study established that cattle blood specimens for CBC analysis can be stored for 120 h at 4℃, but specimens for BGE analyses must be tested within 6 to 24 h.
This study aims to assess the influence of rainfall patterns on shallow landslides initiation. Doing so, five typical rainfall patterns with the same cumulative amount and intensity components comprising Advanced (A1 and A2), Centralized (C), and Delayed (D1 and D2) were designed based on a historical rainstorm event in Jinbu. Mt area. Those patterns were incorporated as the hydrological conditions into the Transient Rainfall Infiltration and Grid-based Regional Slope-stability Model (TRIGRS) to assess their influences on groundwater pressure and changes in the stability of the slope. The results revealed that not only the cumulative rainfall thresholds necessary to initiate landslides, but also the rate at which the factor of safety decreases and the time required to reach the critical state, are governed by rainfall patterns. The sooner the peak rainfall intensity, the smaller the cumulative rainfall threshold, and the shorter the time until landslide occurrence. Left-skewed patterns were found to have a greater effect on landslide initiation. Specifically, among five rainfalls, pattern (A1) produced the most critical state. The severity of response was followed by patterns A2, C, D1, and D2. Our conclusion is that rainfall patterns have a significant effect on the cumulative rainfall threshold, the build-up of groundwater pressure, and the occurrence of shallow landslides.

The DC system has less power loss compared to the AC system because there is no influence of frequency and dielectric loss. However, the zero-crossing point of the current is not detected in the event of a short circuit fault, and it is difficult to interruption due to the large fault current that occurs during the opening, so the reliability of the DC breaker is required. As a solution to this, an LC resonance DC circuit breaker combined a superconducting element has been proposed. This is a method of limiting the fault current, which rises rapidly in case of a short circuit fault, with the quench resistance of the superconducting element, and interruption the fault current passing through the zero-crossing point through LC resonance. The superconducting current limiting element combined to the DC circuit breaker plays an important role in reducing the electrical burden of the circuit breaker. However, at the beginning of a short circuit fault, superconducting devices also have a large electrical burden due to large fault currents, which can destroy the element. In this paper, the reactor is connected to the source side of the circuit using PSCAD/EMTDC. After that, the change of the fault current according to the reactor capacity and the electrical burden of the superconducting element were confirmed through simulation. As a result, it was confirmed that the interruption time was delayed as the capacity of the reactor connected to the source side increased, but peak of the fault current decreased, the zero-crossing point generation time was shortened, and the electrical burden of the superconducting element decreased.
This study was conducted to establish the post-harvest management system in rice. Harvested hulled rice was gathered into large-scale bag and combine bag, in which the rice quality and the influence on quality change were investigated on various storage periods and moisture contents. Moisture content of hulled rice ranged from 23.7% to 28.8% on different harvest times, which grew lower as harvesting time was delayed. When desiccation was retarded hulled rice in large scale bag was changed in color and emitted an of offensive odor in 3 days and that in combine bag showed similar symptom in 4 days. Inner temperature in large scale bag was changed a lot when the storage period was prolonged and also the moisture content was higher while that in combine bag increased regularly corresponding to the moisture content at the time of harvest. Moisture content of hulled rice stored in large-scale bag increased 2 days after harvest and the more moisture content showed the more increased tendency, while in the case of combine bag the moisture content was not changed much whether the hulled rice contained low or high moisture content in harvesting. As desiccation was delayed fatty acid increased much more in large-scale bag than in combine bag even though protein and amylose contentwere not changed. As desiccation was delayed more and hulled rice contained moisture more in harvesting head rice ratio of brown rice decreased and green-kerneled rice and damaged grain ratio increased and quality of milled rice also became deteriorated. As a result, desiccation day to minimize the deterioration of rice quality was estimated 1-2 days in large scale bag and 2-3 days in combine bag after harvesting.
In order to find out the optimum harvest (clipping) date combined with sowing date on yield and nutrient Quality of forage rape which is suitable at the southern part of Korea, Velox, introduced variety was grown from Sep. 1987 to May 1988 at Sunchon National University, and yield and nutrient Quality of plant were observed. As harvest date and sowing date were delayed, the plant length was longest, number of branch and leaves per main stem were increased in the time of full bloom clipping and Sep. 24 sowing but stem diameter was thickest in the early sowing. Fresh yield was heaviest in the time of flowering clipping and Sep. 24 sowing but the most dry matter yield was heaviest in the time of full bloom clipping and Sep. 24 sowing. Content of crude protein was highest and that of crude fiber such as NDF, ADF, hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin were lowest in the late time of clipping and sowing. Further more IVDMD was high and dry matter yield and digestible dry matter yield were highest in the time of flowering clipping and Sep. 24 sowing. Judging from the results reported above, at optimum harvest (clipping) date combined with sowing date for yield and nutrient Quality of forage rape seemed to be the time of flowering clipping and Sep. 24 sowing.
Orthodontic force is a mechanical stress controlling both of tooth movement and skeletal growth. The mechanical stress stimulate bone cells that may exert some influence on bone remodeling. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the difference in cellular activity depending on mechanical stresses such as compressive and tensile force by determining the alkaline phosphatase(ALP) activity. A clonal osteogenic cell line MC3T3-E1 was seeded into a 24-well plate($2{\times}10^4/well$). At the confluent phase, a continuous compressive hydrostatic pressure($25g/cm^2$, $300g/cm^2$) and continuous tensile hydrostatic pressure($-25g/cm^2$, $-300g/cm^2$) were applied for 4, 6, 10, 14, 18, 20 days respectively by a diaphgragm pump. At the end of the stimulation period, cell layers were prepared for ALP activity assay. The ALP activity of the compressive group increased more than that of the tensile group at same force magnitude, whereas the cells responded to a similar pattern regardless of the type of mechanical stress The ALP activity of the compressive and tensile group turned into the level of the control group as the length of time increased. These results indicated that a mechanical stress may be more effective on cellular activity during active cellular proliferation and differentiation periods. The time to achieve maximum ALP activity was delayed as the mechanical stress increased in both the compressive and the tensile group. Accordingly, the magnitude of the stress rather than the type of mechanical stress may have more influence on cellular activity.
