Low frequency Long Duration Blast Vibrations and Their Effect on Residential Structures (지속시간이 긴 저주파 발파진동과 주거 구조물에 미치는 영향)

  • A major concern with blasting at surface mines is generation of ground vibration, air blast, flyrock, dust & fume and their impact on nearby structures and environment. A study was conducted at a coal mine in India which produces 10 million tonne of coal and 27 million cubic meter of overburden per annum. Draglines and shovels with dumpers carry out the removal of overburden. Detonation of 100 tonnes of explosives in a blasting round is a common practice of the mine. These large sized blasts often led to complaints from the nearby inhabitants regarding ground vibrations and their affects on their houses. Eighteen dragline blasts were conducted and their impacts on nearby structures were investigated. Extended seismic arrays were used to identify the vibration characteristics within a few tens meters of the blasts and also as modified by the media at distances over 5 km. 10 to 12 seismographs were deployed in an array to gather the time histories of vibrations. A signature blast was conducted to know the fundamental frequency of the particular transmitting media between the blast face and the structures. The faster decay of high frequency components was observed. It was also observed that at distances of 5km, the persistence of vibrations in the structures was substantially increased by more 10 seconds. The proximity of the frequency of the ground vibration to the structure's fundamental frequencies produced the resonance in the structures. On the basis of the fundamental frequency of the structures, the delay interval was optimized, which resulted into lower amplitude and reduced persistence of vibration in the structures.

  • Several HTPB/AP and HTPB/AP/HMX propellants were investigated experimentally for ignition characteristics in subatmospheric pressure. The threshold ignition pressure was 4psia for HTPB/AP composite propellant. The partial replacement of AP in HTPB/AP composite propellant by $5\sim15%$ of HMX, HNIW showed improvements in the threshold pressure was below 0.4psia. This appears to be due to the exothermic dissociation characteristics of HMX and HNIW at lower temperature $(\sim220^{\circ}C)$ than that of AP. The ignition substance B/KNO3 was coated thinly on the propellant surface for better ignition effect. As a result, ignition delay time of 15% was improved. NC is applied to $B/KNO_3$ ignition substance as a secondary binder and $NC-B/KNO-3$ suspension solution is coated to the propellant surface.

  • In this paper, we developed the hardware GPS signal generator for generating a GPS L1 meaconing signal with Live GPS signal signals and analyzed the performance of meaconing signal generator thorough the experiment. Deception of the signal, such as a re-broadcast, it is an object of the user to provide false information so as not to receive location information and accurate time. The signal just rebroadcast has the features that can be easily deceive the receiver via a delay of no received signal to the signal processing through an antenna. In this paper, the hardware for generating a signal only these rebroadcast designed and manufactured, by re-sending the received Live GPS signals, to confirm the effect of the receiver. The maximum delay time is possible up to about 2.6msec, also, has been successfully tested to be moved to the position of re-broadcasting based on maturity antenna the position of the receiver through a spaced antenna.

Photonic Microwave Notch Filter with Negative Coefficient Using Reflective Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (반사형 반도체 광 증폭기를 이용한 음계수를 가지는 광 마이크로파 노치 필터)

  • We propose and experimentally demonstrate a photonic microwave notch filter with a negative coefficient. The negative coefficient is obtained by using cross gain modulation (XGM) in a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA). When the RSOA is operated in saturated region, the signal carried on the pump wavelength is inversely copied to the probe wavelength by the XGM effect, showing a negative coefficient. Time delay between pump signal and probe signal is provided by single mode fiber (SMF) with wavelength dependent time delay. The proposed microwave notch filter shows notch dips of more than 35.1 dB and free spectral range (FSR) of about 380.6 MHz.

Sound Source Localization Method Using Spatially Mapped GCC Functions (공간좌표로 사상된 GCC 함수를 이용한 음원 위치 추정 방법)

  • Sound source localization method based on the time delay of arrival(TDOA) is applied to many research fields such as a robot auditory system, teleconferencing and so on. When multi-microphones are utilized to localize the source in 3 dimensional space, the conventional localization methods based on TDOA decide the actual source position using the TDOAs from all microphone arrays and the detection measure, which represents the errors between the actual source position and the estimated ones. Performance of these methods usually depends on the number of microphones because it determines the resolution of an estimated position. In this paper, we proposed the localization method using spatially mapped GCC functions. The proposed method does not use just TDOA for localization such as previous ones but it uses spatially mapped GCC functions which is the cross correlation function mapped by an appropriate mapping function over the spatial coordinate. A number of the spatially mapped GCC functions are summed to a single function over the global coordinate and then the actual source position is determined based on the summed GCC function. Performance of the proposed method for the noise effect and estimation resolution is verified with the real environmental experiment. The mean value of estimation error of the proposed method is much smaller than the one based on the conventional ones and the percentage of correct estimation is improved by 30% when the error bound is ${\pm}20^{\circ}$.

  • This paper suggests a unified packet telecommunication network, which is designed by applying network design algorithm and distribution network design algorithm, Proposed local network design algorithm is based on MST topology, and it can satisfy the limited capacity and get a distribution effect of communication flow, With the result of the comparison with Kruskal and Esau-Willams algorithm, an increase of 2.7% in cost and a decrease of 44.8% in average delay time are shown. Starting with MST topology, proposed distribution network design algorithm gradually increases its reliability, and proposes a conclusive algorithm to determine a topology with minimum cost. In compared with Cut-Saturation algorithm in the aspect of end-to-end delay time and communication flow restricted condition, this proposed algorithm results in 1/7 cost down and about 2.5 times increases in Throughput.

  • In order to reduce the problems from the presence of rye crop residues in maize establishment and yield, and also to improve the growth, productivity and nutritive value of rye(Seca1e cereal L.). an experiment was canied out to determine the variety effect of rye on the forage production system and the eft'ect of seeding and harvesting dates on the production and quality of rye. 'This experiment was conducted at the forage testing field of S.N.U., Suweon, from September 1986 to May 1989. Heading date of an early maturing rye variety, Wintermore. was earlier 10 days than that of a late maturing rye variety, Kodiak. A 15-days delay in the seeding dates of early and late maturing varieties of rye tended to delay the heading dates of the rye varieties for 3 and 4 days, respectively. Dry matter and in vitro digestible dry matter yields were markedly increased with earlier seeding date. Before 20 April, the DM and IVDDM yeilds of an early maturing rye variety, Winterrnore. were higher than those of a late maturing rye variety, Kodiak. However, no such a trend was found between the early and late maturing varieties of rye after 27 April. Less than 35% of ADF was recorded until the harvesting dates of 13 and 27 p r i l for early and late maturing rye varieties, respectively, but less than 46% of NDF was maintained until the harvesting drtte of 13 April for botg varieties. Based on the results obtained from this experiment. it may be concluded that the most desirable forage production from corn-rye double cropping system is to advance the seeding time of rye toward the first 10 days of September as well as harvesting time toward the first heading stage with an early maturing rye variety.

  • This paper investigates the performance characteristics of the data link layer of the 1996 version of IEC/ISA fieldbus which is developed as internatioal standard of fieldbus. A discrete-event simulation model of the data link layer of IEC/ISA fieldbus is developed. Using the simulation model, this paper identifies the network parameters that influence the performance of prioritys scheme and real-time data transmission, and analyzes the delay performance of IEC/ISA fieldbus with respect to the change of network parameters. The simulation model also integrates continuous-time simulation model of a control system as application process. Using the integrated simulation model, this study investigates the effect of network-induced delay on the performance of control system. Since the simulation model developed in this study can predict the network performance, it will be effectively utilized in the design phase of control and automation systems that adopt the IEC/ISA fieldbus.

THE EFFCT OF TIME DELAY AFTER SILICOATING ON THE BOND STRENGTH BETWEEN THE METAL AND RESIN CEMENT (Silicoating후 시간지연이 금속과 레진 시멘트 간의 접착강도에 미치는 영향)

  • For the purpose of this study, the silicoating on Ni-Cr-Be alloy surface was carried out by using the Silicoater MD. The effect of time delay after silicoating on the bond strength between the metal and resin cement was examined. The groups were divided into 4 : group 1 : Sandblasted with $250{\mu}m$ aluminium oxide, immediatly cemented group 2 : Sandblasted with $250{\mu}m$ aluminium oxide, silicoated and immediatly cemented group 3 : Sandblasted with $250{\mu}m$ aluminium oxide, silicoated and cemented after 7 days group 4 : Sandblasted with $250{\mu}m$ aluminium oxide, silicoated and coated with unfilled resin and cemented after 7 days Specimens were luted with Comspan, Superbond C&B or Panavia EX. The tensile bond strength between the metal and resin cement was measured by using the universal testing machine. The results were as follows : 1. The bond strength in groups 2, 3 and 4 was higher than that of group 1 (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference among the bond strength in groups 2, 3 and 4 (p>0.05). 2. In Comspan-cemented groups, there was no significant difference among the bond strength in groups 2, 3 and 4 (p<0.05). 3. In Panavia EX-cemented groups, the bond strength of group 3 was higher than that of group 2 (p<0.05) and there was no significant difference between groups 3 and 4. 4. In Superbond C&B-cemented groups, there was significant difference between groups 2 and 3 (p<0.05) and the bond strength of group 4 was higher than that of group 3 (p<0.05). 5. The highest tensile bond strength was obtained by using the Superbond C&B and no difference in the Panavia EX and Comspan. 6. The modes of bond failure were mainly cohesive failure. The method of storage and transport indicated in this study seems recommendable for laboratory and clinical use at least up to 7 days.

  • In this paper, the performance of the various multiple accesstechniques for the mobile computer network has been studied in the consideration of the characteristics. Of the mobile communication channel. In the case of the hidden node occurring, it could be seen that the performance of the code division multiple access(CDMA) technique. With simultaneous access function is better than that of the other packet access methods such as carrier sensed multiple access(CAMA). Busy tone mulitiple access(BTMA)and idle signal muitiple access(ISMA) in the view of the throuhtput and mean delay time. Also it has been shown that the performance of the CDMA method is superior to that of other packet access techniques such as multiple access(CSMA).etc when the fading effect or impulsive noise exists in the mobile channel. Especially in the case of the distributed mobile network. It has been shown that the receiver-transmitter based CDMA method using the characteristics of CDMA effectively has better throughput and less mean delay time than the commontransmitter based CDMA technique.
