  • Some association rules can have very high confidence in a sub-interval or a subrange of the domain, though not quite high confidence in the whole domain. In this paper, we define a ranged association rule, an association with high confidence worthy of special attention in a sub-domain, and further propose an efficient algorithm which finds out ranged association rules. The proposed algorithm is data-driven method in a sense that hypothetical subranges are built based on data distribution itself. In addition, to avoid redundant database scanning, we devise an effective in-memory data structure, that is collected through single database scanning. The simulation shows that the suggested algorithm has reliable performance at the acceptable time cost in actual application areas.

  • The biggest problem in the AI field, which has become a hot topic in recent years, is how to deal with the lack of training data. Since manual data construction takes a lot of time and efforts, it is non-trivial for an individual to easily build the necessary data. On the other hand, automatic data construction needs to handle data quality issue. In this paper, we introduce a method to automatically extract the data required to develop Korean speech command recognizer from the web and to automatically select the data that can be used for training data. In particular, we propose a modified ResNet model that shows modest performance for the automatically constructed Korean speech command data. We conducted an experiment to show the applicability of the command set of the health and daily life domain. In a series of experiments using only automatically constructed data, the accuracy of the health domain was 89.5% in ResNet15 and 82% in ResNet8 in the daily lives domain, respectively.

  • Due to development of Internet network environments and data compression techniques, the size and amount of multimedia data has greatly increased. They are compressed before transmission or storage. Dealing with these compressed data such as video retrieval or indexing requires the decoding procedure most of the time. In video retrieval and indexing a color histogram is one of the most frequently used tools. We propose a novel scheme for extracting color histograms from images transformed into the compressed domain using $8{times}8$ DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform). In this scheme an averaged version of original image is obtained by filtering DCT coefficients with a filter we destined.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a novel method using quantization of wavelet coefficients for secret data communication. First, speech signal is partitioned into small time frames and the frames are transformed into frequency domain using a WT(Wavelet Transform). We quantize the wavelet coefficients and embedded secret data into the quantized wavelet coefficients. The destination regard quantization errors of received speech as seceret dat. As most speech watermark techniques have a trade off between noise robustness and speech quality, our method also have. However we solve the problem with a partial quantization and a noise level dependent threshold. In additional, we improve the speech quality with de-noising method using wavelet transform. Since the signal is processed in the wavelet domain, we can easily adapt the de-noising method based on wavelet transform. Simulation results in the various noisy environments show that the proposed method is reliable for secret communication.

  • Due to development of internet network environments and data compression techniques, the size and amount of multimedia data has greatly increased. They are compressed before transmission or storage. Dealing with these compressed data such as video retrieval or indexing requires decompression procedure in most cases. This causes additional computations and increases the processing time. In various applications a histogram is one of the most frequently used tools. Efficiency of extracting such histograms will drop down if decompression is involved. We propose a novel scheme for extracting histograms from images that are transformed into the compressed domain by 8x8 DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform). In this scheme an averaged version of original image is obtained by a simple linear combination of DCT coefficients with the sets of coefficients we designed.

  • Water content of sub-layer in pavement systems has a large effect on pavement performance. Many researchers lately make use of time-domain reflectometry(TDR) probes to measure the soil water content of sub-layer from field monitoring. The laboratory calibration test of TDR probe should be performed with soil field, because TDR probe can cause an error by type, gradation, density, and temperature of soil. This study performed the laboratory calibration test of TDR probe(CS616) with subgrade and subbase material in long term pavement performance(LTPP) sections. And the calibration equations of TDR probe(CS616) were then proposed. It was confirmed from the study that the data of TDR probe monitored in field could be used to estimate the freezing, unfrozen water content, and matric suction of soil.

  • In this paper, we propose a new single carrier - frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) structure to cope with narrow band interference. In the conventional SC-FDE structure, when a high-power narrow band interference exists, channel estimation and data recovery is difficult. To relieve from this problem, this paper proposes a new SC-FDE frame structure to enable frequency-domain channel estimation in the environments that exist narrow band interference. Specifically, in the conventional method, the channel estimation is performed in time-domain first and from that, the frequency-domain channel is obtained by Fourier transform. In contrast, we proposed a new SC-FDE structure to enable frequency-domain channel estimation directly from received signals without time-domain channel estimation. The receiver performance improvement is verified through computer simulation. According to the results, the proposed technique can detect the signal with less than 2 dB loss compared with jammer-free environments, while the conventional method does not communicate with each other.

  • 3D seismic data processing methods such as full waveform inversion or reverse-time migration require 3D wave propagation modeling and heavy calculations. We compared efficiency and accuracy of a Xeon Phi coprocessor to those of a high-end server CPU using 3D frequency-domain wave propagation modeling. We adopted the OpenMP parallel programming to the time-domain finite difference algorithm by considering the characteristics of the Xeon Phi coprocessors. We applied the Fourier transform using a running-integration to obtain the frequency-domain wavefield. A numerical test on frequency-domain wavefield modeling was performed using the 3D SEG/EAGE salt velocity model. Consequently, we could obtain an accurate frequency-domain wavefield and attain a 1.44x speedup using the Xeon Phi coprocessor compared to the CPU.

  • In EBCOT, the context modeling process takes excessive calculation time and this paper proposed a method to reduce this calculation time. That is, if the finest resolution coefficient is less than a pre-defined transfer factor the coefficient and its descendents skip the context modeling process. There is a trade-off relationship between the calculation time and the image quality or the amount of output data such that as this threshold value increases, the calculation time and the amount of output data decreases, but the image degradation increases. The experimental results showed that in this range the resulting reduction rate in calculation time was from 3% to 64% in average, the reduction rate in output data was from 32% to 73% in average.
