  • It is being more and more difficult to suppress emissions from electronic products using PCB(Printed Circuit Board) to the limit. Therefore, the exact evaluation of the emission from PCB has been more important to reduce the required time and the cost at the design phase of the products, especially on board ship's equipments. This research has evaluated the emission radiated from PCB based on the theoretical approach of SDA(Spectral Domain Analysis), which is available to analyze microwave stripline, coplanar line, patch antenna, etc. According to the theoretical results, it has been clearly shown that the emission radiated from PCB is reduced as the thickness of PCB is thinner, the permittivity of PCB is higher, the length of stripline is shorter, and the frequency is lower.

  • In this paper, a new model reduction method is proposed to obtain a reduced order model in the frequency domain. The method is developed based on the second-order plus dead time modeling technique. The initial value of the reduced model parameters can be obtained using this method coinciding four point(0, -$\pi$/2, -$\pi$, -3$\pi$/2) on the Nyquist curve. The optimal parameters of the reduced model is obtained through calculation procedure with three steps. It is shown that Nyquist curves and unit step responses of the reduced models of numerical examples closely agree with those of original models.

  • In STP, network performance differs depending on topology configuration. Therefore, we need to configure right topology for the optimal efficiency of networking. This paper suggest the optimal topology configuration for efficient networking between ethernet switchs. It finds out the best topology configuration by calculation mathematical model which uses transmission time between root switch and other switchs in the same domain. And it also analysed performance difference on locations of root switch. Through the performance analysis, we could conclude that placing the root switch in the center is the most efficient.

  • In this study, simplified linear numerical method that can simulate wave generation and transformation by a moving bottom is introduced. Numerical analysis is conducted in wave number domain after continuity equation, linear dynamic and kinematic free surface boundary conditions and linear kinematic bottom boundary condition are Fourier transformed, and the results are expressed in space domain by an inverse Fourier transform. In the wavenumber domain, the dynamic free water surface boundary condition and the kinematic free water surface boundary condition are numerically calculated, and the velocity potential in the mean water level (z = 0) satisfies the continuity equation and the kinematic bottom boundary condition. Wave generation and transformation are investigated when the triangular and rectangular shape of bottoms move periodically. The results of the simplified numerical method are compared with the results of previous analytical solutions and agree well with them. Stability of numerical results according to the calculation time interval (Δt) and the calculation wave number interval (Δk) was also investigated. It was found that the numerical results were appropriate when Δt ≤ T(period)/1000 and Δk ≤ π/100.

  • Two stroke low speed diesel engines are widely used for marine propulsion or as power plant prime mover. These engines have many merits which includes higher thermal efficiency, mobility and durability. Yet various annoying vibrations occur sometimes in ships or at the plant itself. Of these vibrations, torsional vibration is very important and dictates a careful investigation during the engme's initial design stage for safe operation. With the rule and limit on torsional vibration in place, shaft strength fatigue due to torsional vibration however demands further analysis which possibly can be incorporated in the classification societies' rule and limit. In addition, the shaft's torsional vibration stresses can be calculated equivalently from accumulated fatigue cycles number due to transient torsional vibration in time domain. In this paper, authors suggest a new estimation method combined with Palmgren-Miner equation. A 6S70MC-C ($25,320ps{\times}91rpm$) engine for ship propulsion was selected as a case study. Angular velocity was measured, instead of shaft's strain, for simplified measurement and it was converted to torsional vibration stress for accumulated fatigue cycle numbers in shafting life time. Likewise, the accumulated fatigue calculation was compared with shaft fatigue strength limit. This new method can be further realized and confirmed in ship with two stroke low speed diesel engine.

  • The modified discrete cosine transform (MDCT) and inverse MDCT (IMDCT) are employed in subband/transform coding schemes as the analysis/synthesis filter bank based on time domain aliasing cancellation (TDAC). And the MDCT and IMDCT are the most computational intensive operations in layer III of the MPEG audio coding standard. In this paper, we propose a new efficient algorithm for the MDCT/IMDCT computation in various audio coding systems. It is based on the MDCT/IMDCT computation algorithm using the discrete cosine transforms (DCTs), and It employs two discrete cosine transform of type II (DCT-II) to compute the MDCT/IMDCT In addition, it takes advantage of ability in calculating the MDCT/IMDCT computation, where the length of a data block Is divisible by 4. The Proposed algorithm in this paper requires less calculation complexity than the existing method does. Also, it can be implemented by the parallel structure, therefore its structure is particularly suitable for VLSI realization

  • Distributed Models have relative weak points due to the amount of computer memory and calculation time required for calculating water flow using a numerical analysis based on kinematic wave theory when compared to the conceptual models used so far. Typically, the distributed models have been mainly applied to small basins. It was necessary to decrease the resolution of the grid to make it applicable for large scale watersheds, and because it would take up too much time to calculate using a higher resolution. That has been one of the more difficult factors in applying the model for actual work. In this paper, MPI (Message Passing Interface) technique was applied to solve the problem of calculation time as it is one of the demerits of the distributed model for performing physical and complicated numerical calculations for large scale watersheds. The comparison studies were performed a single domain and a divided small domain in Yongdam Dam watershed in case of typoon 'Ewiniar' at 2006. They were compared to analyze the application effects of parallelization technique. As a result, a maximum of 10 times the amount of calculation time was saved but keeping the level of quality for discharge by using parallelization code rather than a single processor.

  • The thermal environment in a small city rapidly deteriorates due to the urbanization and overpopulation. It is important to understand and predict the thermal environment in a city area. The thermal environment is highly affected by the solar radiation and temperature distributions changing over time periodically. To predict the thermal environment precisely, the solar radiation calculation including radiation strength, incidence angle, and thermal radiation between building surface and ground should be considered. In this study, the computational domain includes various artificial structures such as building, ground, asphalt, brick and grass. To consider the solar radiation, the unsteady state numerical calculation is performed from sun rise to mid-day (2:00pm). The numerical methods consist of solar load and one dimensional heat conduction through the boundaries to reduce the computational load and improve the flexibility of the calculation.

  • An automatized latency calculation method of an e-OAE(evoked otacoustic emission) is proposed. The e-OAE signal measured from a normal adult is averaged 1000 times to remove noises. This averaged signal is converted to digital signal and that is processed by IBM-AT computer for latency calculation. we separate the stimulated and the emitted signal on the time domain by a modified LPC (linear prediction coding) spectrum, and the latency is calculated by cross-correlation method. By proposed latency calculation method the latency is 7.9[ms] for normal adult. The performance of the proposed method is also compared with that of the auto-correlation and cross performance of the proposed method is also compared with that of the auto-correlation and cross-correlation method. The result show that the proposed method has same precision with the conventional methods and can automatically calculate latency without subjective observation.

  • This paper describes a calculation method of source level of a ship transient noise, which is one of the important elements for the ship detection. Aim of transient noise measurements is to evaluate of acoustic energy due to singular occurrence, which is therefore defined as non-periodic and short termed events like an attack periscope, a rudder and a torpedo door. In generally, in the case of randomly spaced impulse, the spectrum becomes a broadband random noise with no distinctive pattern. Therefore, frequency analysis is not particularly revealing for type of signal. In the paper, it is performed in time domain to analyze a transient noise. However, a source level of transient noise is required an investigation for multiple frequency band. So, in order to calculate a source level of transient noise, a design of exponential weighting function, convolution, band pass filtering, peak detection, root mean square, and parameter compensation are applied. The effectiveness of this calculation scheme is studied through computer simulations and a sea test. Furthermore, an application of the method is applied in a real case.
