Background: As a restorative material used to treat dental caries, the light-curing type resin is widely used, but it has the disadvantage of polymerization shrinkage. The Bulk-Fill composite resin was developed to solve these shortcomings, but the existing research mainly focused on comparing the physical properties of a composite resin and a Bulk-Fill resin. A study on the light curing time and distance of the Bulk-Fill resin itself tend to be lacking. Methods: This study compares the surface microhardness of specimens prepared by varying the light curing time and distance of smart dentin replacement (SDR) as a flowable Bulk-Fill resin and Tetric N-ceram as a packable Bulk-Fill resin, and confirms the polymerization time and distance that becomes the optimum hardness. To determine the hardness of the specimen, it was measured using the Vickers Hardness Number (Matsuzawa MMT-X, Japan). Results: In SDR, the surface microhardness decreased as the distance increased in all time groups in the change distance from the curing tip. In the change of light curing time with respect to the distance from curing tip, the surface microhardness increased as the time increased. In Tetric N-ceram, the surface microharness showed no significant difference in the change of the distance of curing tip in the group of 20 and 60 second. But in the group of 10 and 40 seconds, decreased as the distance increased. The surface microharness increased as the light curing time increased in all distance groups. Conclusion: When using SDR and Tetric N-ceram in clinical practice, it is considered that as the distance from the polymerization reactor tip increases, a longer light curing time than the polymerization time recommended by the manufacturer is required.
Camera rigs for shooting 3D video are classified as manual, motorized, or fully automatic. Even in an automatic camera rig, the process of Stereoscopic 3D (S3D) video capture is very complex and time-consuming. One of the key time-consuming operations is capturing the distance parameters, which are near distance, far distance, and convergence distance. Traditionally these distances are measured by tape measure or triangular indirect measurement methods. These two methods consume a long time for every scene in shot. In our study, a compact laser distance sensing system with long range distance sensitivity is developed. The system is small enough to be installed on top of a camera and the measuring accuracy is within 2% even at a range of 50 m. The shooting time of an automatic camera rig equipped with the laser distance sensing system can be reduced significantly to less than a minute.
For content-based image retrieval, the earth mover's distance and the optimal color composition distance are proposed to measure the dissimilarity. Although providing good retrieval results, both methods are too time-consuming to be used in a large image database. To solve the problem, we propose a new distance function that calculates an approximate earth mover's distance in linear time. To calculate the dissimilarity in linear time, the proposed approach employs the space-filling curve. We have performed extensive experiments to show the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach. The results reveal that our approach achieves almost the same results with the EMD in linear time.

The purpose of this study is to produce time-distance cartograms based on the various Korean transportation networks, and to analyze the spatial structure of time-distance accessibilities. For the purpose this study attempts to develop continuous area cartogram by utilizing Wolf's algorithm for creating contiguous cartogram in ArcGIS 9. The absolute physical space was transformed to the functional space indexed by time-distances along various transportation networks in Korea. We examined the differences in the time-distance accessibilities among transportation networks. This study makes a comparison between the spatial structure of time-distance accessibility of KTX network with them of existing railroad network, as well as with them of road network. In order to clarify the spatial structures of time-distance accessibilities, we restructured them on the time-distance circular diagrams and performing Multi-Dimensional Scaling analysis. Overall structure of time-distance accessibilities shows similar patterns: The time distances are shrinked a lot along the Seoul-Busan axis, while coastal parts, in particular the eastern part of the county, are shrinked relatively little via all transportation networks. The Road network affects significantly on the accessibilities of cities in Gangwon-do and Gyeonggi-do, while railway network affects on the accessibilities of cities in Jeolla-do and Gyeongsang-do in general. When we compared the time-distance accessibilities based on the 5 largest cities, Seoul appears as the most accessible city from/to all other cities in Korea. We can also find significant changes in the time-distance accessibility between KTX network and existing railroad network. Cities along the KTX network, in particular cities which has KTX stops, improved significantly in time-distance accessibilities.

The Euclidean distance is sensitive to the absolute offsets of time sequences, so it is not a suitable similarity measure in terms of shape. In this paper. we propose an indexing scheme for efficient matching and retrieval of time sequences based on the minimum distance. The minimum distance can give a better estimation of similarity in shape between two time sequences. Our indexing scheme can match time sequences of similar shapes irrespective of their vortical positions and guarantees no false dismissals

The purpose of this study is to investigate the changes in the accessibility of the Metropolitan Seoul Transit systems since 2000, in which many new subway lines have been constructed as well as other urban transit lines have been connected to the systems. We suggest an accessibility measure model for Un-fixed Transportation Networks. In order to measure the nodal accessibility based on the mobility, we apply path-distance, physical-distance, and time-distance as the distance impedance measurement. Specifically, we develop time-distance algorithms to measure the time-distance between each pairs of transit stations based on the T-card transaction databases. We apply the model to the Metropolitan Seoul Transit systems in two time points(2005 and 2011). We examine the results in terms of three distance accessibility measures. Time-distance accessibility explains better the urban land use patterns in the Metropolitan Seoul area than the other two. We visualize the spatial patterns of time-distance accessibility by applying GIS, and analyze the spatial structures of accessibility in the Metrropolitan Seoul area between two time points.
In order to investigate the punch properties of some vegetables-cucumber, radish, garlic, ginger and potato-force, distance, and time were measured with a texturometer, and the correlations between compositions and cell characteristics of samples were characterized. Many reflection and rupture points on the force-distance and distance-time curve were observed, and these points appeared when the cells of sample were resisted and yielded against the applied force. They were big and clear at the slow crosshead speed. The regression analysis for force-time and distance-time to the rupture point showed $R^{2}>0.95$. The rupture time and rupure force were 5.63 sec, 4.88 N in ginger and 4.15 sec, 2.00 N in cucumber. The rupture forces become large values at the fast crosshead speed. As cell sizes were increased, the moisture content and rupture distance were increased, while the viscosity of juice, density, regularity of cell, and slope of force-time were decreased. Rupture force, time and distance were decreased at the large specific gravity of samples. The slopes of distance-time curve were inversely proportional to slope of force-time curve.

The development of smart grids has enabled the easy collection of a large amount of power data. There are some common patterns that make it useful to cluster power consumption patterns when analyzing s power big data. In this paper, clustering analysis is based on distance functions for time series and clustering algorithms to discover patterns for power consumption data. In clustering, we use 10 distance measures to find the clusters that consider the characteristics of time series data. A simulation study is done to compare the distance measures for clustering. Cluster validity measures are also calculated and compared such as error rate, similarity index, Dunn index and silhouette values. Real power consumption data are used for clustering, with five distance measures whose performances are better than others in the simulation.
Time series are comprehensively appeared and developed in many applications, ranging from science and technology to business and entertainrilent. Similarity search under time warping has attracted much interest between the time series in the large sequence databases. DTW (Dynamic Time Warping) is a robust distance measure and is superior to Euclidean distance for time series, allowing similarity matching although one of the sequences can elastic shift along the time axis. Nevertheless, it is more unfortunate that DTW has a quadratic time. Simultaneously the false dismissals are come forth since DTW distance does not satisfy the triangular inequality. In this paper, we propose an efficient range query algorithmbased on a new similarity search method under time warping. When our range query applies for this method, it can remove the significant non-qualify time series as early as possible before computing the accuracy DTW distance. Hence, it speeds up the calculation time and reduces the number of scanning the time series. Guaranteeing no false dismissals, the lower bounding function is advised that consistently underestimate the DTW distance and satisfy the triangular inequality. Through the experimental result, our range query algorithm outperforms the existing others.

The aim of this study was to investigate effects of reaching distance on movement time and trunk kinematics in hemiplegic patients. Eight hemiplegic patients participated in this study. The independent variables were side (sound side vs. affected side) and target distance (70%, 90%, 110%, and 130% of upper limb). The dependent variables were movement time measured by pressure switch and trunk kinematics measured by motion analysis device. Two-way analysis of variance with repeated measures was used with Bonferroni post-hoc test. (1) There were significant main effects in side and reaching distance for movement time (p=.01, p=.02). Post-hoc test revealed that there was a significant difference between 110% and 130% of reaching distance (p=.01). (2) There was a significant main effect in side and reaching distance for trunk flexion (p=.01, p=.00). Post-hoc test revealed that there were significant differences in all pair-wise reaching distance comparison. (3) There was a significant side by target distance interaction for trunk rotation (p=.04). There was a significant main effect in target distance (p=.00). Post-hoc test revealed that there were significant differences between 70% and 110%, 70% and 130%, 90% and 110%, 90% and 130% of target distance. It was known that trunk flexion is used more than trunk rotation during reaching task in hemiplegic patients from the findings of this study. It is also recommended that reaching training is performed with limiting trunk movement within 90% of target distance whereas reaching training is performed incorporating with trunk movement beyond 90% of target distance in patients with hemiplegia.
