This paper introduces a robot eye module, of which two degree-of-freedom motions, i.e. panning and tilting, are driven by a pair of wires. The main feature of the module is that each wire can generate push-pull motion without buckling. It is thanks to a Teflon tube which guides the path of the moving wire. End points of the tube and wire have pivot elements so that a smooth push-pull motion is produced even when the end point of wire is moved by eye rotation. This mechanism helps the eye module to be very compact. In this paper, the structure of the robot eye module is introduced in detail, and the required motor angles for a certain direction of eye line are investigated analytically and experimentally.

This research is carried out to provide fundamental data for the design of solar photovoltaic systems. Methodologically, the solar radiation installations from 10 different pyreheliometers are measured, which are set up at 6 and 4 different levels of tilts and azimuth, respectively. Maximum of a yearly accumulated solar radiation is $1,569.8kWh/m^2{\cdot}year$ with a tilt angle of $30^{\circ}$ and an azimuth angle of $0^{\circ}$(south), $1,558.5kWh/m^2{\cdot}year$ with an azimuth angle of $0^{\circ}$(south) in combination of a tilt angle of $35^{\circ}$. This paper estimates that in designing fixed solar photovoltaic systems with a tilt angle of $12.5^{\circ}{\sim}50^{\circ}$(south) and a tilt angle of $35^{\circ}$ in combination of an azimuth angle of $S45^{\circ}W{\sim}S45^{\circ}E$, a tilt angle and an azimuth angle will cause a maximum 6.8% and 9.9% of efficiency variation respectively, depending on a installed solar module's angle and direction.

Tilt sensors are mainly used to measure the collapse of structures such as buildings, bridges and tunnels. Recently, due to the ease of use and low price, many tilt sensors using MEMS sensors have been used, but the measurement angle range is limited, and thus, they do not have high precision for 360 degree. This is due to the inherent offset and scale errors of MEMS sensors. In this paper, we proposed an algorithm for the calculation of precision angles to reduce the mechanical error of MEMS sensors, and produced a MEMS sensor module and a transmission module to compare the angle accuracy of sensor modules before calibration and the angle measurement accuracy after calibration. Experimental results show that the proposed technique has a precision of ± 0.015 degrees for all 360-degree.
One of the most important factors so that mobile objects can achieve their purpose is the information about their positions. In this paper, we propose an improved beacon system, to which ultrasonic sensors are attached, for the indoor localization of mobile objects. We have researched so that it can cover the wider space and estimate more accurate positions than the existent beacon systems. The existent beacon systems have the constraint that one beacon cannot cover wide area since ultrasonic sensors have limits in the angle of signal (beam-angle) on which their signal strength depends. Hence, we used the active beacon which consists of a pan-tilt mechanism and a beacon module. The active beacon system can always aim at mobile objects in order to transmit the strongest signal of the ultrasonic sensors into the objects using the pan-tilt mechanism. In addition, this system is inexpensive because it can decrease the number of beacons by about a half of the beacons of the existent system. Finally, the results show what is the difference between the active beacon system and existent beacon systems, and how accurate it is.

The paper actualizes the twin camera module system that is portable and very useful for the production of 3D contents. The suggested twin camera module system is a system to be able to display the 3D image after converting the inputted image from 2D stereo camera. To evaluate the performance of the twin camera module suggested in this paper, I assessed the correction of Rotation and Tilt created depending on the visual difference between the left and right stereoscopic image shot by the left and right lenses by using the Test Platform. In addition, I verified the efficiency of the twin camera module system through verifying Depth Error of 3D stereoscopic image by means of Scale Invariant Feature Transform(SIFT) algorithm. I think that if the user utilizes the suggested twin camera module system in displaying the image to the external after converting the shot image into the 3D stereoscopic image and the preparation image, it is possible to display the image in a matched way with an output device fit respectively for different 3D image production methods and if the user utilizes the system in displaying the created image in the form of the 3D stereoscopic image and the preparation image via different channels, it is possible to produce 3D image contents easily and conveniently with applying to lots of products.

Concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) system consists of high-quality complex optical elements, mechanical devices, and electronics components and can have the advantages of high integration and high-efficiency energy sources. III-V compound semiconductor cells have proven performance based on high reliability in the aerospace field, but have characteristics that require absolute support of the balance of systems (BOS) such as solar position trackers, receivers with heat sinks, and housing instruments. To determine the optimum parameters of secondary optical elements (SOEs) design for CPV systems, we designed three types of CPV modules, classified as non-SOEs type, reflective mirror type, and CPC lens type. We measured the I-V and P-V characteristics of the prototype CPV modules with the angle of inclination varying from 0° to 12° and with a 500-magnification Fresnel lens. The experimental results assumed misalignment of the solar position tracker or module design of pinpoint accuracy. As a result, at the 0° tilt angle, the CPC lens produced lower power due to the quartz transmittance ratio compared to that by other SOEs. However, for tilt angles greater than 3°, the CPC lens type module achieved high efficiency and stability. This study is expected to help design high-performance CPV systems.

Database is constructed according to the development of information contents technology. But the construction of database using bio-information has not been developed. because it is difficult to collect bio-information. This paper presents how to construct database about sensing temperature and tilt of cow based on bio-information using RF communication. The system consists of 8bit micro-controller, tilt sensor, temperature sensor and RF module.
KOMPSAT-2 will carry MSC(Multi-Spectral Camera) which provides 1m resolution panchromatic and 4m resolution multi-spectral images at the altitude of 685km sun-synchronous mission orbit. The mission operation of KOMSPAT-2 is to provide the earth observation using MSC with nadir pointing. KOMPSAT-2 will also have the capability of roll/pitch tilt maneuver using reaction wheel of satellite as required. In order to protect MSC from thermal distortion as well as direct sunlight, MSC shall be operated within the constraint of sun incidence angle. It is expected that the sunlight will not violate the constraint of sun incidence angle for normal mission operations without roll/pitch maneuver. However, during roll/pitch tilt operations, optical module of MSC may be damaged by the sunlight. This study analyzed sun incidence angle of payload using KOMPSAT-2 AOCS (Attitude and Orbit Control Subsystem) Design and Performance Analysis Soft ware for KOMPSAT-2 normal mission operations.
The PSD(Position Sensitive Detector) is a sensor for detecting the position of incident light. Because of its various advantages, it is used for position and angle sensing, optical range finders, laser displacement sensing, and etc. In the previous study of the position finding system, the laser tracking robot is developed. Small data rate and unidirectionality is the characteristics of data communication both DSP-based pan/tilt control board and the robot. If we can transmit data to the target using PSD sensor and laser diode module, there is no need for communication devices such as the bluetooth and wireless module. For this reason, this paper presents the new method for data transmission. Transmit data using RS-232 is modulated by a VTF(Voltage To Frequency) converter The laser diode module transmits the modulated data. And then the PSD sensor receive that data. Demodulation process is accomplished by the system which is consisted with trans-impedance amplifier, FTV(Frequency To Voltage) converter, and etc.
In this study, a postural change detection sensor module (PCDSM) was developed to detect postural changes in activities of daily living (ADL) and falls. The PCDSM consists of eight mercury sensors that measure angle variations in $360^{\circ}$ rotation and $90^{\circ}$ tilting. From the preliminary study, the output characteristics of the PCDSM were confirmed with the angle variations of rotational motion and a tilting table. Three experiments were conducted to test rotational motion, postural changes, and falling and lying. The results confirmed that the PCDSM could effectively detect postural changes, movement patterns, and falls or non-falls.
