  • Selecting a proper tile cement for ceramic tile is important to secure tile construction quality. But there is some ambiguity in standards about evaluating adhesion test such as using KS L 1593 in Lab test but using KS L 1592 in site. So, this study aims to how to select proper tile cement for securing adhesion strength in site considering both tensile and shear adhesion strength of cement for ceramic tile. Also, when doing tensile adhesion test in site, there may be adhesion drop because of cutting tile with grinder. As a result, drop of adhesion strength is about 9% ans quality manager consider these factor and should select proper tile cement.

  • In this study, flexural strength and tile adhesion strength were evaluated by using a mortar, dry mortar and an epoxy resin reinforced mortar to examine the adhesion performance by reinforcing the epoxy resin adhesive. As a result, it was clearly confirmed that the effect of improving the adhesion strength by reinforcing the epoxy resin adhesive regardless of the type of tile, and in particular, when applying the epoxy resin adhesive to the porcelain and polishing tiles, it is judged that sufficient adhesion performance can be secured.

  • This study used Geopolymer to study tile waterproofing adhesives. The materials used in this study were polymer and acrylic resin, and were evaluated based on adhesion and water resistance. In particular, the adhesion was evaluated under various conditions, and the substrate was comparatively evaluated on the concrete and tile surface conditions.

  • In modern architecture, tiles are used as a decorative material to enhance the appearance of buildings. However, defects occurring during tile installation affect not only the appearance of the building, but also its maintenance. This study aims to investigate stable tile installation by producing tile modules using the floating mortar method and conducting freeze-thaw tests to measure their adhesion strength. Test results showed that the adhesion strength increased as the mesh size decreased, except for S3 mesh. This study highlights the importance of research on tile installation to solve problems related to building appearance and maintenance.

  • Recently, the size of tiles used for bathroom walls in apartment houses is gradually increasing in size. The problem is that when these large-sized tiles are attached by the sticking method, due to the nature of the method, there is a concern about the stability of the attachment to the part (pupil) where the tile and the adhesive are not attached. The problem is serious as it leads to lawsuits in the outbreak court. In addition, it is urgent to verify the adhesion stability of the sticking method because secondary damage occurs due to a safety accident caused by the falling of the tile. Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport [Investigation of defects in apartment houses, calculation of repair cost and defect determination criteria] ① The tile adhesion strength is 0.39N/mm2 or more and ② It is specified to fill 80% or more of the base area of the tile backside, but this is currently trendy. It is considered that large-sized tiles need to be verified from multiple angles, and as part of that, we intend to verify the adhesion stability according to the area to be attached to large-sized tiles.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of tile adhesion failure due to weak adhesion with concrete admixture (FA, SP) on walls. The test specimens were divided into four types : (1) OPC 100% (2) OPC 80%+FA 20% (3) OPC 80%+SP 20% (4) OPC 60%+SP 40%, each adhered on a 650 × 650mm wall with 200mm thickness capable of attaching two insulation tiles (300 × 600mm). The tests were carried out on the four types of walls by mortar bedding application method, and after 4 weeks of curing period, adhesion strength test was carried out. The adhesion strength difference was investigated between the concrete wall with added admixture (FA, SP) and general concrete wall.

  • The rear side surface of tiles act have protrusions that helps secure the adhesion between the tile and the mortar for tile setting. Conventional height of the rear side usually ranges between 1 to 1.5 mm, and the molding method is classified in between press type and compression type during the manufacturing process, with most tiles being produced by the former method. In sites where adhesion failures were observed, tiles were taken to examine the cause of defect. It was determined that height was irregular at the rear side surface. Based on these findings, an experiment was conducted to determine the correlation between the rear surface and the bonding strength of tiles.

  • Today, the conception of building architecture is changing the conception that it is a kind of product and the operator of construction try to produce excellent building through developing efficiency and materials of building component. This study improves the problematic point of the extenor tile setting, through making on experiment on the method of it and purposes doing to do the exterior tile setting of good quality as it selects out of the most conformable the method. The experimental materials choose the tile of 60$\times$108mm size which are using frequently in the exterior tile setting and mortar is made from sand of Han river and potland cement, which apply the volume mixing of the ratio 1:3. The water cement ratio (W/C)is made up 62% The methods of tile setting utilise the method of the tile setting and laying the method of the tile improved setting and laying, the method ol the pressing adhesion, the method of the improved pressing adhesion and the method of setting adherent (the method of VIBRATOR).

  • Polishing tiles among porcelain tiles are more durable and aesthetic than ceramic tiles, so their demand has recently increased. In particular, since polishing tiles have a very low absorption rate, organic adhesives with chemical bonds are mainly used. However, organic adhesives have low economic efficiency and some volatile organic compounds (TVOCs). Therefore purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of polishing tile adhesion by developing organic-inorganic adhesives, which have chemical bonds and mechanical bonds. As a result, since the amorphous chain and chemical bonds of the polymer in the tile adhesives, both tensile and shear adhesion strength were satisfied with the KS L 1592, KS L 1593, and the rate of length change itself in the thermal cycling was lower than organic adhesives. So it is thought that it is possible to replace some organic adhesives.
