해운대 이안류 발생 시 수영만의 물리환경 - 2009년 8월 (Physical Environments of Suyong Bay during the Rip Current Events at Haeundae - August 2009)

  • 수영만에 설치된 모니터링 부이에서 관측된 해류, 바람, 파고자료와 부산항의 조석자료를 이용하여 강한 이안류가 발생했던 2009년 8월 13~15일의 물리환경을 분석하였다. 수영만의 조류는 단주기 해류성분과 비슷한 크기를 가지며 대조-소조에 따른 변화를 보인다. 이안류가 발생했을 때 북동풍이 강하게 불고 조류와 해류가 해운대 해안 쪽 방향으로 중첩되었다는 공통점이 있고, 8월 14일 오후에 이안류가 없었을 때는 파고와 조석은 유사한 조건이었지만 조류와 해류가 거의 반대방향이었다. 강한 바람은 큰 파랑을 동반하여 이안류 발생의 기본조건을 조성하지만 만 내의 해류에 미치는 국지적인 영향은 비교적 작다. 수영만에 인접한 세 해수욕장 중에서 해운대에서만 강한 이안류가 나타나는 데에는 해운대 중앙부의 특이하게 얕은 수중언덕이 외해에서 들어오는 파랑, 해류, 조류를 감쇠시키는 효과가 중요할 것으로 생각된다.

새만금해역에서 밀도성층의 계절 변동 (Seasonal Variation of Density Stratification in the Saemangeum Waters, Korea)

  • Seasonal and tidal variations of density stratification in the Saemangeum waters are investigated based on synoptic CTD observations between July 2003 and September 2005. CTD data used in this study are those obtained after closing the dike No. 4 and before closing the two final gaps, the Sinsi and the Garyeok, on the Saemangeum tidal harrier. A total of 19 field campaigns comprehend a wide temporal spectrum, that is, few seasons, spring and neap tides, and high and low waters. In addition, ADCPs were anchored and CTDs were cast at three stations for 25 h in July 2005. Water columns are vertically homogeneous in autumn and winter. The vertical homogeneity persists in spring but with an occasional weak stratification in i:he northern part of the Gogunsan Islands. Increased reshwater runoff tends to stabilize the water columns and strong density stratification is established in summer. The mean potential energy anomaly (PEA) in summer used as a stratification parameter is the largest $(27.7\;J\;m^{-3})$ in the northern part of the Gogunsan Islands where the Geum River discharge dominates, the smallest $(16.9\;J\;m^{-3})$ is in the inner area of the barrier, in between the two $(21.6\;J\;m^{-3})$ in the southern part of the Gogunsan Islands. Whereas the stratification is generally strengthened in summer, strong winds or large tidal currents over the shallow depths frequently destratify the water column near the mouth of river runoff inside the tidal barrier. Periodic stratification, the development of stratification on the ebb and its breakdown on the flood, occurs in the mid-area inside the barrier induced by the tidal straining, which can also be found in the results of 25 h observation.

지역개발과 주민생활이 환경에 미치는 영향 -충청남도의 비치와 해안사구를 사례로- (The Impact of the Developments and Dwellers on the Beach and Sanddune Characteristics in the Chungcheong-Namdo Province)

  • This paper examined the impacts of the regional developments and dwellers behavior on the Seacoast. Seacoast features a variety of landforms which are created by the action of waves and tidal flows. The coastal landforms are found mainly in the interface between land and sea. Although erosional landforms constitute prominent landscape features as sea stack, sea arch, and rock cliff do, it is nonetheless the depositional features such as beaches, tidal flats, offshore bars, deltas, sanddunes, and coastal plains that have various ramifications for human communities. Among these, beaches and coastal sanddunes are special in that their formation is attributable to the combined action of waves, tidal flows, and winds. The main line of discussion in this dissertation is concerned with the transformation of group of beaches sanddunes along the coastline of Chungcheong-Namdo Province. To some extent, the erosion of coastal dunes has been a global phenomenon. The degradation process occurs most actively when the spring tides attack beaches, berms, and foredunes. Also involved in the transformation of coastal dunes are factors of human agency. The extent, speed, and pattern of their morphological changes are a function of land-use pattern. The reclamation of swale and the exploitation of sands as construction material and silica sand, for example, ruin the feature of coastal dunes.

실시간 유출유 확산모델링 (Real-time Oil Spill Dispersion Modelling)

  • To predict the oil spill dispersion phenomena in the ocean, the oil spill response model, which can be used for strategic purpose on the oil spill site, based on Lagrangian particle-tracking method was formulated and applied to the neighboring area with Pusan port where the oil spill incident occurred when the tanker ship No.1 Youil struck on a small rock near the Namhyungjeto on September 21, 1995. The real-time tidal currents to be required as input data of the oil spill model were obtained by the two-dimensional hydrodynamic model and the tide prediction model. Evaluation of tidal currents using observation data was successful. For wind data, other input data of oil spill model, observed data on the spot were used. To verify the oil spill model, the oil spill modelling results were compared with the field data obtained from the spill site. Compared the modelling results with the observation data, there exist some discrepancies but the general pattern of modelling results was similar to that of field observation. The modelling results on 7 days after spill occurred showed that the 40% of spilled oil is in floating, 36% in evaporated, 23% at shore, and 1% in out of boundary, respectively. According to the evaluation of weighting curves of effective components to the dispersion of oil, the winds make a 37% of contribution to the dispersion of oil, turbulent diffusion 39.5%, and tidal currents 23.5%, respectively. Provided the more accurate wind data are supported, more favorable results might be obtained.

비인만의 해안사구를 활용한 경관생태적 현장학습 프로그램 개발 (Research of landscape ecological field-trip learning program development for students at BiIn Bay, Seocheon in South Chung-chong coastal environment)

  • The coast of BiIn Bay, Seocheon, is the potential site for the field-trip learning program. This article is written in the viewpoint of geographical and environmental education. In this study, it is tried to describe geomorphological landscapes of BiIn Bay Seocheon-gun relating with it's physiognomy, based on the Dasa-ri and Songrim-ri coastal sanddunes and the like. Although landforms like tidal flats and rock cliff constitute prominent landscape features in this area, other features such as beaches, coastal dunes, and coastal plains have various ramifications for human communities. Tidal flats, beaches and coastal dunes are formed by the combined actions of longshore current, tidal flows, waves and winds. To some extent, the erosion of sandy coast has been a global phenomenon. Anthropogenic impacts are involved in the transformation of landform. Most favorable field-trip course of BiIn Bay is from Songrim-ri through Dasa-ri and Shinhap-ri to Maryang-ri. This program about coastal landforms in BiIn Bay will contribute not only for educational meanings but also for satisfying the student' curiosity and interest. Also, this field-trip learning program will be suitable for over 4th grade elementary school students and middle school students.

해운대 해수욕장 전면 해상의 조류에 미치는 바람효과 (Wind Effect on Tidal Currents in the Neighborhood of Haeundae Beach)

  • 2007년 4계절 동안 5회에 걸쳐 해운대 해수욕장으로부터 약 1.6 km 떨어진 수심 20 m 해역에서 층별 관측한 조류자료를 이 기간 동안 가장 가까운 지점에서 획득한 육상풍 및 해상풍 자료와 각각 비교 검토하였다. 그 결과, 각 계절별 풍향은 육상풍과 해상풍이 서로 유사하였으나, 풍속은 해상풍이 육상풍에 비해 3배 이상 강하였다. 또한, 해상풍은 늦여름부터 가을에 걸쳐 표층 조류에 상당한 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 한편, 바람이 수층의 흐름에 미치는 한계를 나타내는 에크만층의 두께는 평균 31.8 m로 나타나, 측류 위치의 전 수층이 바람의 영향을 받는 것으로 판단되었다. 따라서, 해운대 해수욕장의 모래 유실 방지 대책을 위한 조류 해석에 있어서 풍응력의 고려가 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

충남 연안의 경관생태적 지역발전 전략 (Landscape Ecological Approach and the Strategies of Regional Development on South Chung-Chong Coastal Environment)

  • This article is written in the viewpoint of landscape ecological geography. The coast of South Chung-chong Province will make new characters of region in the development strategies program. This study is to describe geomorphological landscapes of South Chung-chong Province relating with it's environment based on the coast. Although landforms constitute prominent landscape features as tidal flats and rock cliff do, it is nonetheless the features such as beaches, sanddunes, and coastal plains that have various ramifications for human communities. Tidal flats, beaches and coastal sanddunes are special in that their formation is attributable to the combined action of tidal flows, waves and winds. To some extent, the erosion of sand has been a global phenomenon. Human impact are involved. The influence of globalization and expansion of liberal trade appears in regions variously. Individual regions need to secure its competitiveness in the world market. Regions are not value-neutral abstract conception, but must be informal commercialized characters of region. The coast of South Chung-chong Province has experienced rapid and dramatic changes. In industrial times, the middle of west coast Korea turned into a major reclamation at larger scale. Reclaimed land was based on location of industry and mechanized agriculture. The west coast highway and bridges between island and land contributed to the development of west coast transportation. As information society matured, trend and value are changing. Environment and ecology emphasize and rediscover the value of tidal flats and sanddunes. The west coast region now receives attention as eco-tour and sustainable course.

고창군 명사십리 조간대 표층 퇴적물의 계절 변화 (Seasonal Variation of Surface Sediments in the Myeongsasipri Tidal Flat, Gochanggun, SW Korea)

  • 한반도서남해안의 고창군 명사십리 대조차조간대에서 계절에 따른 퇴적물 조직과 퇴적 환경 변화를 연구하였다. 표층 퇴적물은 연구지역 3개 측선(각 측선 당 15개) 45지점에서 겨울철(2월), 여름철(8월)에 채취하였다. 개방형 명사십리의 표층 퇴적물은 세립사와 중립사가 우세하며 해안선과 평행한 띠 모양으로 분포한다. 입도 분포 곡선은 복모드 분포를 보이며, 겨울철 조간대의 입도분포가 여름철에 비하여 조립하다. 겨울철에 중립사가 상부 조간대에 집중되고 세립사가 하부 조간대에 집중된다. 이는 겨울철 동안 조석작용보다 파랑 에너지가 크게 작용함을 의미한다. 겨울철과 비교하여 여름철에 상대적으로 세립한 평균입도와 조직변수들 간의 상관관계는 여름철에 조석 에너지의 영향이 상대적으로 크게 작용한다는 것을 의미한다. 명사십리 조간대에 대한 연구는 퇴적환경이 해안으로 불어오는 바람과 파랑 강도의 계절별 변화로 겨울철 파랑-우세 환경에서 여름철 조석-우세 환경으로 변화한다는 것을 보여준다.

조석/폭풍해일 예측 모델과 검조소 조위자료를 활용한 한반도 연안 폭풍해일 특성 연구 (A Study of Storm Surges Characteristics on the Korean Coast Using Tide/Storm Surges Prediction Model and Tidal Elevation Data of Tidal Stations)

  • 기상청의 해양 예측모델을 이용하여 2008년과 2009년의 한반도 주변의 폭풍해일의 특성을 살펴보았다. 모델의 정확성을 파악하기 위해 모델 결과는 한반도 연안의 검조소 자료와 비교하였다. 본 연구에서 사용된 조석/폭풍해일 모델은 한반도 주변의 폭풍해일의 특성을 잘 나타내고 있으며 특히 하계의 태풍 영향으로 인한 폭풍해일의 계절변화를 뚜렷이 나타내고 있다. 2008년과 2009년의 48시간 예측 평균 RMSE(root mean square error)는 각각 0.272 m와 0.420 m로 나타났다. 한반도 주변의 해역별, 월별 폭풍해일에서는 하계의 강한 해상풍의 영향으로 하계에 높은 폭풍해일고가 2008년에 나타나지만 2009년의 경우에는 하계 이외의 기간에도 매우 높은 폭풍해일고를 나타내었다. 태풍 Kalmaegi(2008)와 Morakot(2009)이 한반도에 접근시 모델의 정확도는 연평균 수치와 유사하게 나타났지만 연평균 검증결과와 같이 2008년 태풍 Kalmaegi에 비해 2009년 태풍 Morakot의 경우가 예측정확도가 낮게 나타났다.
