젤리스 금속 전극으로 측정가능한 휴대용 디지털 심전도계의 개발 (Development of a Portable Digital Electrocardiograph(ECG) measurable with Gel-less Metal Electrodes)

  • 심장 질환의 이상 현상은 항상 나타나는 것이 아니므로 오랜 시간 동안 심장상태를 관찰해야 한다. 하지만, 의료장비는 크기, 장비 조작, 비용 면에서 개인이 소유하여 장시간 동안 건강 체크를 하기에는 어려움이 있다. 본 논문에서는, 젤리스 금속 전극으로 측정 가능한 휴대용 디지털 심전도계를 제작하였다. 전극은 기존의 젤 타입 전극 대신 젤리스 금속 전극을 사용함으로써 기존 젤 타입 전극의 단점이었던 피부발진 또는 가려움증 유발 등의 문제점을 개선하였다. 전체 심전도계는 크게 아날로그 계측 회로부와 디지털 회로부로 구성하였다. 아날로그 계측 회로부는 동상모드 잡음을 효과적으로 제거할 수 있는 op-amp와 smd타입의 수동소자를 사용하여 18*25mm 크기로 설계 및 구현하였다. 디지털 회로부에서는 마이크로 컨트롤러를 이용하여 아날로그 신호인 심장신호를 디지털 신호로 변환하여 TFT-LCD에 디스플레이할 수 있도록 하였다. 완성된 휴대용 심전도계의 크기는 25*80*50mm이고, 무게는 약 150g 정도로써 가볍고 휴대하기 용이하게 소형으로 제작하였다.

전자 종이용 하전 입자의 부착력 분석 (Adhesion Force Analysis of Charged Particles for the E-paper)

  • Charged micro-particles are widely used as the key components for many electrical applications such as an e-paper, a touch panel, a printer toner and an electronic ink. Among them, the e-paper is an emerging reflective type display using the charged particles that has the advantages of the extremely low power consumption and sunlight readability. To create images on the e-paper, we confine black positively-charged and white negatively-charged particles between bottom and top electrodes and selectively apply the electric field. When the Coulomb force by an applied electric field is greater than the adhesion force between the charged particle and the electrode, the particles' transition happens resulting in the change of color between black and white. Therefore, the adhesion force is a very important factor for designing and estimating e-paper's operation. In this study, we constructed a basic model for particle's transition and an adhesion force equation describing particle's transition with three different forces: electrostatic image force, Van der Waals force and gravitational force. The simulation results showed that the gravitational force is negligible for the interesting range for the charge and the radius, and the adhesion force can be strongly dependent on the particle's charge and radius.

유전체 장벽 방전 플라즈마 방전수의 특성과 미생물 소독에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Microorganism Disinfection and Characteristics of Discharged Water of Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Systems)

  • Objectives: This experiment was carried out to elucidate the effect of discharged water on the disinfection of $Phytophthora$ $capsici$ and evaluate the water characteristics. Methods: The dielectric barrier discharges (DBD) plasma reactor system used in this study consisted of a plasma component [discharge, ground electrode and quartz dielectric tube], high voltage source, and air supply. The effects of water characteristics such as pH, ORP and conductivity and the disinfection effect of discharged water were investigated. Results: Experimental results showed that in the process of discharge, the pH decreased, whereas ORP and electric conductivity increased. When the discharge time was 30 min, $Phytophthora$ $capsici$ of 2.94 log was disinfected within 300 seconds. Disinfection performance of stored discharged water was maintained for three days; however the disinfection effect vanished after five days. When $Phytophthora$ $capsici$ was injected into the discharged water, the disinfection effect decreased after two days. Conclusions: It is considered that the main disinfection parameters of the discharged water were chemically active species such as $H_2O_2$ and $O_3$ and high ORP.

아연 전기도금의 전착성에 미치는 폴리에틸렌글리콜(polyethyleneglycol)의 영향 (The effect of polyethypeneglycol on the electrocrystallization of Zn electrodeposition)

  • 염화물욕 아연도금에서 순환셀 도금장치에 3전극계를 부착하여 첨가제 효과를 조사하였다. 도금액에 폴리에틸렌글리콜(이하 PEG)의 첨가는 도금 과전압을 증가시키고 수소발생을 억제하는데 이것은 첨가제에 의하여 아연 이온의 이동을 억제하거나 음극에 첨가제 흡착에 의한 것으로 생각된다. 그러나 PEG는 사용되는 도금액의 물성(전도도, 점도, 비중)에는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 도금층에 미치는 영향은 표면 조도가 개선되고, 광택도가 감소된다. 이러한 영향은 PEG 분자수가 클수록 증가되나 분자수가 다른 PEG의 혼합첨가제에서는 광택도 감소가 줄어든다. 이러한 것은 도금층 결정면의 방향성, 입자의 크기 및 형태가 PEG 분자 수에 따라 다르게 나타나는 것에 기인하는 것으로 판단된다.

(Ba1-xCax)(Ti1-yZry)O3 Powder Synthesis Via Hydrothermal Treatment

  • $(Ba_{1-x}Ca_x)(Ti_{1-y}Zr_y)O_3(BCTZ)$ powders for the Ni-electrode Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor(MLCC) were synthesized via hydrothermal treatment using mixed aqueous solutions of $BaCl_2{\cdot}2H_2O,\Ca(NO_3)2{\cdot}4H_2O,\ ZrOCl_2{\cdot}8H_2O$ and $TiCl_4$. Two component and three component systems were also extensively studied for basic data. BT, CT and BZ powders were crystalline but CZ was determined to be amorphous under the same synthetic condition. In BTZ system, Zr and Ti were completely soluble and Ca would be substituted for Ba up to ∼6 mol% in BCT. The submicron-sized $(Ba_{0.95}Ca_{0.05})(Ti_{0.80}Zr_{0.20})O_3$ powder of the target composition was successfully synthesized at $150{\circ}$ for 12h.

  • 공개소스 전산유체 해석 라이브러리인 OpenFOAM을 이용하여 음극 지지체형 고체산화물 연료전지의 온도균일성에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 3가지 유형의 유동흐름(병행류, 대향류, 직교류)에 대하여 수치해석이 이루어졌다. 다공성 물질내에서의 기체의 흐름은 유효확산계수를 이용하여 계산하였고 분리판의 리브 영향도 고려하였다. 전기화학반응의 계산을 위하여 실험식으로부터 얻은 집중내부저항 모델이 사용되었다. 수치해석 결과 대향류가 가장 균일한 온도분포를 나타내었다.

EEG Nonlinear Interdependence Measure of Brain Interactions under Zen Meditation

  • This work investigates the characteristics of brain interactions of experienced Zen-Buddhist practitioners by obtaining multichannel EEG (electroencephalogram) data. Brain interactions were compared among three phases-40-minute meditation (M), 5-minute Chakra-focusing practice (Z) and rest with closed eyes (R). The similarity index S, developed in nonlinear dynamical system theory, was employed to measure the degree of possibly asymmetric coupling. Meditators exhibited, overall, stronger interactions among multiple cortical areas in meditation stages M and Z than in the R state. This enhancement was greater in the M stage when the meditator was accompanied by a thought-free and fully consciousness state. In the high-frequency band (>13Hz), the interdependence was also higher in both meditation stages than at baseline rest. However, the interaction strength, especially in the posterior regions, was greatest in the Z stage, which involved internal attention. Few electrode pairs were observed with significant pair-wise asymmetry in the Z state. The similarity is a possible characteristic of dense reciprocal and strong mutual interactions between multiple cortical areas during meditation - especially in the Z state in the high-frequency band. These results demonstrate that profound Zen meditation induces various dynamic states in different phases of meditation, possibly reflected by nonlinear interdependence measure.

Development of a Virtual Frisch-Grid CZT Detector Based on the Array Structure

  • Background: Cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) is a promising material because of a high detection efficiency, good energy resolution, and operability at room temperature. However, the cost of CZT dramatically increases as its size increases. In this study, to achieve a large effective volume with relatively low cost, an array structure comprised of individual virtual Frisch-grid CZT detectors was proposed. Materials and Methods: The prototype consisted of 2 × 2 CZTs, a holder, anode and cathode printed circuit boards (PCBs), and an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC). CZTs were used and the non-contacting shielding electrode method was applied for virtual Frisch-grid effect. An ASIC was used, and the holder and the PCBs were fabricated. In the current system, because the CZTs formed a common cathode, a total of 5 channels were assigned for data processing. Results and Discussion: An experiment using 137Cs at room temperature was conducted for 10 minutes. Energy and timing information was acquired and the depth of interaction was calculated by the timing difference between the signals of both electrodes. Based on obtained three-dimensional position information, the energy correction was carried out, and as a result the energy spectra showed the improvements. In addition, a Compton image was reconstructed using the iterative method. Conclusion: The virtual Frisch-grid CZT detector based on the array structure was developed and the energy spectra and the Compton image were successfully acquired.

황동단자에 대한 인쇄형 유연촉각센서의 출력 특성 (Study on Output Characteristics of Printed Flexible Tactile Sensors Connected to Brass Terminals)

  • While the demand for robots in the manufacturing industry has dramatically increased, the industrial robots' functionality is mainly determined by the effector attached to the end of their arms. They need a flexible gripping system that can act as a human hand and easily grasp a variety of objects, which requires resilient sensors. This study clarifies the electrical output characteristics of elastic tactile sensors according to contact terminals because the output characteristics of the tactile sensors vary greatly, depending on the contact material and the method of contact with the conductive wire. Our research considers the Three Roll Mill and Paste Mixer as the dispersion medium, and a nickel- and gold-plated brass electrode as the contact terminal.

RF Ar 플라즈마에서의 레이저 어블레이션 모델링 (Modeling of the Laser Ablation under the RF Ar Plasmas)

  • In this paper, we developed a hybrid simulation model of carbon laser ablation under the Ar plasmas consisted of fluid and particle methods. Three kinds of carbon particles, which are carbon atom, ion and electron emitted by laser ablation, are considered in the computation. In the present modeling, we adopt capacitively coupled plasma with ring electrode inserted in the space between the substrate and the target, graphite. This system may take an advantage of ${\mu}m$-sized droplets from the sheath electric field near the substrate. As a result, in Ar plasmas, carbon ion motions were suppressed by a strong electric field and were captured in Ar plasmas. Therefore, a low number density of carbon ions were deposited upon substrate. In addition, the plume motions in Ar gas atmosphere was also discussed.
