  • Estimation and analysis of traffic jams plays a vital role in an intelligent transportation system and advances safety in the transportation system as well as mobility and optimization of environmental impact. For these reasons, many researchers currently mainly focus on the brilliant machine learning-based prediction approaches for traffic prediction systems. This paper primarily addresses the analysis and comparison of prediction accuracy between two machine learning algorithms: Naïve Bayes and K-Nearest Neighbor (K-NN). Based on the fact that optimized estimation accuracy of these methods mainly depends on a large amount of recounted data and that they require much time to compute the same function heuristically for each action, we propose an approach that applies multi-threading to these heuristic methods. It is obvious that the greater the amount of historical data, the more processing time is necessary. For a real-time system, operational response time is vital, and the proposed system also focuses on the time complexity cost as well as computational complexity. It is experimentally confirmed that K-NN does much better than Naïve Bayes, not only in prediction accuracy but also in processing time. Multi-threading-based K-NN could compute four times faster than classical K-NN, whereas multi-threading-based Naïve Bayes could process only twice as fast as classical Bayes.

  • The Purpose of this study was to observe force required to remove some kinds of pin from dentin. The teeth were embedded within a resin cylinder and the occlusal surface was sectioned at a right angle to the axis of the cylinder to expose dentin surface. Thread mate system pin (minim and regular), friction Iocked pin and cemented pin were tested Pin holes were drilled by handpiece and depths of pin holes were tested 1,2 and 3mm. After insertion of the pins into pinhole, tensile loading was performed on the Instron testing machine at the speed of 0.5 inch/min. Results were follewed: 1. In retention, the cemented pins are the least, the friction locked pins intermediate and the self threading pins the greatest in all pins. In self threading pins, regalar pin has greater retention than minim pin 2. The deeper the depth of the pin hole is, the more the retention of the pin increases.

  • Herein, the cyclic voltammetric (CV) investigations of structurally similar bisnitrocompounds (N3, N4, N5, N6, having different-$CH_2$-spacer length) is presented. CV study offered interesting interactional possibilities of bisnitrocompounds with chicken blood ds.DNA at physiological pH 4.7 and human body temperature, 310 K. The results indicated strong interaction by these symmetric molecules with ds.DNA and strength of binding is found to depend on length of $CH_2$ spacer group in their molecular structure. Thermodynamics derived from electrochemical binding parameters also favored the irreversible interactions. Moreover, threading intercalation mode of binding is suggested based on thermodynamic and kinetic binding parameters extracted from CV studies.

  • 5-Hydroxytryptamine receptor 7 ($5-HT_7R$) is one of G-Protein coupled receptors, which is found to be involved in the pathophysiology of various neurological disorders including depression, sleep disorders, memory deficiency and neuropathic pain. After activation of $5-HT_7R$ by serotonin, it activates the production of the intracellular signaling molecule cyclic AMP. The availability of 3D structure of the receptor would enhance the development of new drugs. Hence, in the present study, homology modelling of human 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 7 ($5-HT_7R$) was performed using comparative modelling (Easy Modeller) and threading (I-TASSER) approaches. The generated models were validated using Ramachandran plot and ERRAT plot and the best models were selected based on the validation results. The 3D model developed here could be useful for identifying crucial residues and further docking study.

  • Chemerin receptor, which predominantly expressed in immune cells as well as adipose tissue, was found to stimulate chemotaxis of dendritic cells and macrophages to the site of inflammation. Chemerin is a widely distributed multifunctional secreted protein implicated in immune cell migration, adipogenesis, osteoblastogenesis, angiogenesis, myogenesis, and glucose homeostasis. Recent studies suggest chemerin may play an important role in the pathogenesis of obesity and insulin resistance and it becomes a potential therapeutic target for treating type II diabetes. The crystal structure of chemerin receptor has not yet been resolved. Therefore, in the present study, homology modelling of CMKLR1 was done utilizing the crystal structure of human angiotension receptor in complex with inverse agonist olmesartan as the template. Since the template has low sequence identity, we have incorporated both threading and comparative modelling approach to generate the three dimensional structure. 3D models were generated and validated. The reported models can be used to characterize the critical amino acid residues in the binding site of CMKLR1.

  • Task-based programming is becoming the state-of-the-art method of choice for extracting the desired performance from multi-core chips. It expresses a program in terms of lightweight logical tasks rather than heavyweight threads. Intel Threading Building Blocks (TBB) is a task-based parallel programming paradigm for multi-core processors. The performance gain of this paradigm depends to a great extent on the efficiency of its parallel constructs. The parallel overheads incurred by parallel constructs determine the ability for creating large-scale parallel programs, especially in the case of fine-grain parallelism. This paper presents a study of TBB parallelization overheads. For this purpose, a TBB micro-benchmarks suite called TBBench has been developed. We use TBBench to evaluate the parallelization overheads of TBB on different multi-core machines and different compilers. We report in detail in this paper on the relative overheads and analyze the running results.

  • Urotensin-2 receptor (UTS2R) is the most potent vasoconstrictor and plays a major role in the pathophysiology of various cardiovascular diseases and becomes a potential target for human pharmacotherapy. The crystal structure of Urotension-2 receptor has not yet been resolved. Hence, in the current study homology modelling of UTS2R was done utilizing the crystal structure of human delta opioid receptor as the template. Since the template has low sequence identity, we have incorporated both comparative modelling and threading approach to generate the three dimensional structure. 10 models were generated and validated. The reported models can be used to characterize the critical amino acid residues in the binding site of UTS2R.

  • In order to improve thickness profile of cold rolled steel strip, a computer simulation and actual cold rolling experiments on a 4-high tandem cold mill were carried out. In this study, tapered barrel end at top work roll and incurved barrel body at bottom work roll were examined for reducing edge drop and threading of stripe. Also, the most effective stand of tandem cold mill and magnitude of optimal taper crown at several stand were investigated under a typical rolling condition. From actual rolling experiments, it was verified that thickness deviation over strip width could be improved up to 1.06% by applying tapered and incurved work roll only at the second and up to 0.89% by applying them at both the second and the third stand.
