  • The conventional thermal insulator and power transformer testing is widely used in surface aging measurement of outside insulator because those testing can carry out very short time in Lab testing. Also thermal testing is able to offer the standard judgement of relative degradation level of outside HV machine. There it is very useful method compare to previous conventional thermal testing method and effective Lab testing method. But surface discharges(SD) have very complex characteristics of discharge pattern so it is required estimation research to development of precise analysis method. In recent, the study of IRR-camera is carrying out discover of temperature of power equipment through condition diagnosis and system development of degradation diagnosis. In this study, thermal testing of power transformer is measured with partial temperature distribution in real time.

  • In this paper we obtain a discrete mathmatical model of a Boiler control system from expermental data, we find appropriate input signal and parameter estimation algorithm for identification of the Boiler control system in power plant. Under these conditions experimental data are collected from real system and parameters are estimated by the Recursive Least Square algorithm. The computer simulation results show the parameter estimation algorithm for identification and the effectiveness of controller design of the Boiler control system.

  • Simplified approach has been adopted for the prediction of the thermal behavior of CANDU reactor core during power transients. Based on the assumption that the ratio of mass flow rate for each core channel does not vary during the transient, quasy-steady state analysis technique is applied with predicted core inlet boundary conditions(total mass flow rate and specific enthalpy). For restricted transient case, the presented method shows functionally reasonable estimation of core thermal behavior which could be implemented in the fast running reactor simulation program.

  • In this paper, the mathematical models of the superheater and the desuperheater are derived based on the fundamental laws of physics, mass and energy balance. The parameters of the models are developed for the 500[MW] thermal power plant using the actual data. The simulated model outputs are well matched with the actual ones. It is expected that the proposed models are useful for the temperature controller design of the thermal power plant.

  • Eco-friendly hybrid railroad propulsion system with fuel-cell and battery was suggested to reduce carbon dioxide gas and replace retired diesel railroads. Lithium-ion battery with high energy/power density and long lifetime is selected as the energy source at the battery side due to its excellent performance. However, the performance of lithium-ion batteries was affected by temperature, current rate, and operating condition. Temperature is known to be the most influential factor in changing battery parameters. In addition, appropriate thermal management is required to ensure the safe and effective operation of lithium-ion battery. Electro-thermal coupled model with varying parameter depends on temperature, and state-of-charge (SOC) is suggested to estimate battery temperature. The electric-thermal coupled model contains diffusion current using parameter identification by adaptive control algorithm when considering thermal diffusion effect. An experiment under forced convection was conducted using cylindrical cell and 18 parallel-connected battery module to demonstrate the method.

Real-time estimation of break sizes during LOCA in nuclear power plants using NARX neural network

  • This paper deals with break size estimation of loss of coolant accidents (LOCA) using a nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous inputs (NARX) neural network. Previous studies used static approaches, requiring time-integrated parameters and independent firing algorithms. NARX neural network is able to directly deal with time-dependent signals for dynamic estimation of break sizes in real-time. The case studied is a LOCA in the primary system of Bushehr nuclear power plant (NPP). In this study, number of hidden layers, neurons, feedbacks, inputs, and training duration of transients are selected by performing parametric studies to determine the network architecture with minimum error. The developed NARX neural network is trained by error back propagation algorithm with different break sizes, covering 5% -100% of main coolant pipeline area. This database of LOCA scenarios is developed using RELAP5 thermal-hydraulic code. The results are satisfactory and indicate feasibility of implementing NARX neural network for break size estimation in NPPs. It is able to find a general solution for break size estimation problem in real-time, using a limited number of training data sets. This study has been performed in the framework of a research project, aiming to develop an appropriate accident management support tool for Bushehr NPP.

  • 최근 효율을 높이기 위한 플랜드의 환경이 고온, 고압으로 변화함에 따라 열하중과 기계하중을 동시에 반영한 균열 평가는 플랜트의 건전성을 위하여 반드시 필요하다. C(t)-적분은 고온 균열 평가에 있어서 천이 크리프 상태의 균열을 평가하는 중요한 요소이다. 열하중과 기계하중이 동시에 작용하는 환경에서의 C(t)-적분을 예측하는 것은 복잡하며 하중조건이 달라지는 경우에는 더욱더 복잡해진다. 본 논문에서는 열하중과 기계하중의 하중조건이 달라지는 여러 조건에 대한 C(t)-적분 평가식을 제시하였다.

Thermal Shock Tests and Thermal Shock Parameters for Ceramics

  • Thermal shock test methods and thermal shock parameters for ceramics were reviewed from the following viewpoints: (1) The test methods should be based on the precise estimation of both temperature and thermal stress distributions in a specimen taking into account the temperature-dependent thermo-mechanical properties; (2) The thermal shock parameters must be defined as a physical property of the materials and described as a function of temperature at the fracture point of the specimen; (3) The relation between the strength and fracture toughness of brittle ceramics under a thermal shock load must be the same as the relation under a mechanical load. In addition, appropriate thermal shock parameters should be defined by the thermal shock strength and thermal shock fracture toughness based on stress and energy criteria, respectively. A constant heat flux method is introduced as a testing technique suitable for estimating these thermal shock parameters directly from the electric power charged.

  • This paper reviews the characteristic of thermal and temperature of oil field cable in transient state such as grounding fault and lightning surge. For analysis in various conditions, many actual underground power cable systems are modeled using ATP. These results are applied for the examination of temperature increase when the single line to ground fault by the breakdown of insulation part and hitting of lightning surge are occurred. The inner part temperature of OF cable is analysed according to the various kinds of cable using the thermal model of transient state. The temperature increase of sheath and crossbonded lead bv fault current is also analysed using IEC 60949.

빙축열 시스템의 효율적인 제어를 위한 냉방부하 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on Estimation of Cooling Load for Effective Control of Ice Thermal Storage System)

  • It is necessary to estimate the cooling load of the next day for effective control of ice thermal storage system. In this paper, new methodology is proposed to estimate the cooling load using design parameters of building and predicted weather data. Only six input parameters such as sensible heat coefficient and constant, latent heat coefficient and constant, maximum and minimum temperature are necessary to obtain hourly distribution of cooling load for the next day. Two benchmarking buildings(hospital and research institute) are selected to validate the performance of the proposed method, and the estimated cooling loads in hourly and daily bases are calculated and compared with the measured data for E hospital. The estimated results show fairly good agreement with the measured data for both buildings.
