The spherical glasses lenses are typically classified into two groups such as (+) diopter lens and (-) diopter lens by the refractive power index. The thermal deformation of a lens is occurred by external heat source and is changed respected to the diopter of a lens. In this paper, the thermal deformation of spherical glasses lenses were quantitatively measured by using ESPI (electronic speckle pattern interferometry) which has an advantage that the non-contact, non-destructive and precise deformation measurement is available due to the coherency characteristic. The temperature changes were measured by IR camera. It makes experiments over 14 types of the plastic glasses lenses. From the results, it was confirmed that the larger diopter lens showed the less thermal deformation in case of the (+) diopter lens. On the other hand, the thermal deformation of the (-) diopter lens was measured with uniform pattern when the same temperature changes were applied. Also, it was found that the thermnal deformation of the (+) diopter lens is less than that of the (-) diopter lens. Therefore, it is expected that when the thermal deformation is occurred to the various types of the lens, the variation of the focal length caused by the thermal distortion of a lens would be measured quantitatively.
In this paper, the thermal sensitivity, i .e. the temperature rise per unit acoustic power, was newly defined and proposed as a performance parameter of a tissue mimicking material. Eatable tofu (bean curd) manufactured by a factory was selected as a sample material for the experiment. The temperature changes were measured not only with the variation of ultrasonic irradiation time, acoustic power, depth from the sample surface. and the distance from the source transducer while adjusting the frequency to 8 MHz but also with the variation of frequency while acoustic power. depth from the sample surface. and the distance from the source transducer keeping constant. As a result of a consideration for the transformation of the measured temperature changes to thermal sensitivities. the thermal sensitivity was found to be sufficient to use as a Performance parameter for tissue mimicking material. The tofu as a tissue mimicking material showed the maximum thermal sensitivity at 10 MHz, as is a significant result to imply the possibility that the thermal sensitivity of real human tissue strong1y depends on the frequency.

The CSCM Upwind method and Material Transport Analysis(MTA) have been used to predict the thermal response and shape changes for charring/non-charring material which can be used as thermal protection material(TPM) on blunt-body nose tip. We performed intensive flight trajectory simulations to compare 1-D MTA results with those of 2-D/Axisymmetric MTA by using MTAs and Navier-Stokes code. Theheat-transfer rate and pressure distribution were predicted at selected altitudes and wall temperature along the flight trajectory and the shape changes of blunt-body nose tip were predicted subsequently by using current procedure.
Effects of ${\alpha}$-chymotrypsin modification on degree of hydrolysis (DH), solubility, emulsifying capacity and thermal aggregation of laboratory-purified soy protein isolate (SPI) using a lipoxygenase-defected soybean (Jinpum-kong) and commercial soy protein isolate (Supro 500E) were compared. SPIs were hydrolyzed by ${\alpha}$-chymotrypsin at pH 7.8 and $37^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. DHs of Supro 500E and Jinpum-kong SPI were increased by ${\alpha}$-chymotrypsin modification, and DH of Supro 500E was higher than that of Jinpum-kong SPI. DH of ${\alpha}$-chymotrypsin treated Jinpum-kong SPI was similar with untreated Supro 500E and DH of treated Supro 500E was the highest. Solubility, emulsifying capacity and thermal aggregation of SPIs were increased by ${\alpha}$-chymotrypsin modification, and these changes were highly related to changes in DH. Functional properties of Supro 500E were higher than Jinpum-kong SPI in both of untreated and ${\alpha}$-chymotrypsin treated SPIs.
The tests of three point bending and vickers hardness have been carried out to investigate mechanical characteristics of bioceramics for artificial dental crowns. And color and color difference test has been performed to study chromaticity changes after sintering specimens composited with glass and leucite powders. In addition, thermal dilation test has been carried out to examine bonding relations between dental porcelain and metal frame (Ni-Cr alloy). The result of three point bending test showed a maximum strength of about 68 MPa. Thermal expansion coefficient changed from 8.3$\times$10-6/$^{\circ}C$ to 13.5$\times$10-6/$^{\circ}C$ with increasing leucite content (0~30wt.%) in glass matrix. Bonding between porcelain (25% leucite-75% glass) and Ni-Cr alloy was excellent.
PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of different numbers of heat treatments applied to superstructure porcelain on optical, thermal, and phase formation properties of zirconia. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Forty zirconia specimens were prepared in the form of rectangular prism. Specimens were divided into four groups (n = 10) according to the number of firing at heating values of porcelain. Color differences and translucency parameter were measured, and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were performed. Data were analyzed with analysis of variance (ANOVA). RESULTS. There were no statistically significant differences in ∆E, TP, L, a, and b value changes of the zirconia specimens as a result of repetitive firing processes (P>.05). CONCLUSION. Although additional firing processes up to 4 increase peak density in thermal analysis, additional firing processes up to 4 times can be applied safely as they do not result in a change in color and phase character of zircon frameworks.

This paper is currently being conducted to develop a nonlinear finite element analysis methods for predicting the structural behavior of reinforced concrete structures, exposed to fire. The changes in thermal parameters are discussed from the point of view of changes of structure and chemical composition due to the high temperature exposure. Although, this study considers codes standard fire for reinforced concrete frame, any other time-temperature relationship can be easily incorporated.
Epoxy coatings cured by different amine based curing agents have been prepared. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) has been used to monitor the surface topology changes of epoxy coatings before and after hygrothermal cyclic test. The glass transition temperature ($T_g$) and coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the epoxy coating were measured by Thermo-mechanical Analysis (TMA). The Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) with hygrothermal cyclic test has been introduced to evaluate the corrosion protection of the epoxy coatings. In conclusion, thermal properties of epoxy coatings were in good agreement with the results of corrosion protection of epoxy coated carbon steel obtained result by EIS with hygrothermal cyclic test. The relationship between thermal properties, surface roughness changes and corrosion protection of epoxy coatings are discussed in this study.
In this work, we studied the microstructural changes of ITO during the annealing process. ITO nanoparticles were prepared by the sol-gel method using indium tin hydroxide as the precursor. The prepared sample was investigated using TEM, powder XRD, XPS, DRIFT, and 2D correlation analysis. The O 1s XPS spectra suggested that the microstructural changes during the annealing process are closely correlated with the oxygen sites of the ITO nanoparticles. The temperature-dependent in situ DRIFT spectra suggested that In-OH in the terminal sites is firstly decomposed and, then, Sn-O-Sn is produced in the ITO nanoparticles during the thermal annealing process. Based on the 2D correlation analysis, we deduced the following sequence of events: 1483 (due to In-OH bending mode) ${\rightarrow}$ 2268, 2164 (due to In-OH stretching mode) ${\rightarrow}$ 1546 (due to overtones of Sn-O-Sn modes) ${\rightarrow}$ 1412 (due to overtones of Sn-O-Sn modes) $cm^{-1}$.
In recent years, thermal insulation coating technology for automotive engine parts has received significant attention as a means of improving the thermal efficiency of automotive engines. One of the characteristics of thermal insulation coatings is their low thermal conductivity, and, materials such as YSZ (Yttria-stabilized zirconia), which have low thermal conductivity, are used for this purpose. This research presents a study of the changes in the microstructure and thermal conductivity of $8YSZ/SiO_2$ multi compositional thermal insulation coating for different compositions, and particle size distributions of suspension, when it is subjected to suspension plasma spraying. To obtain a porous coating structure, the mixing ratio of 8YSZ and $SiO_2$ particles and the particle sizes of the $SiO_2$ were changed. The microstructure, phase formation behavior, porosity and thermal conductivity of the coatings were analyzed. The porosities were found to be 1.2-32.1%, and the thermal conductivities of the coatings were 0.797-0.369 W/mK. The results of the study showed that the microstructures of the coatings were strongly influenced by the particle size distributions, and that the thermal conductivities of the coatings were greatly impacted by the microstructures of the coatings.
