A combined theoretical and numerical study is conducted to design a slit nozzle for large-area liquid coating. The objectives are to guarantee the uniformity in the injected flow and to provide the capability of explicit control of flow rate. The woking fluid is a dilute aqueous solution containing single-walled carbon nanotubes and its low viscosity and the presence of dispersed materials pose technical hurdles. A theoretical analysis leads to a guideline for the geometric design of a slit nozzle. The CFD-based numerical experiment is employed as a verification tool. A new flow passage unit, connected to the nozzle chamber, is proposed to permit the control of flow rate by using the commodity pressurizer. The numerical results confirm the feasibility of this idea. The optimal geometry of internal structure of the nozzle has been searched for numerically and the related issues are discussed.
The characteristics of smart skin for wireless LAN system under compression load are investigated. The smart skin structure is composed of 3 layers of face material and 2 layers of core material. Theoretical formula for determining buckling load is derived by Rayleigh-Ritz method and compared with experimental result. The maximum length of specimen that buckling does not occur is determined by assuming that the compression load is sustained by only face material. In the experiment, if buckling occurs obviously then it follows the theoretical result well. In the process of buckling, the load supporting capability and the antenna property such as radiation pattern and reflection coefficient were examined.
The high theoretical energy density ($2600Wh\;kg^{-1}$) of Lithium-sulfur batteries and the high theoretical capacity of elemental sulfur ($1672mAh\;g^{-1}$) attract significant research attention. However, the poor electrical conductivity of sulfur and the polysulfide shuttle effect are chronic problems resulting in low sulfur utilization and poor cycling stability. In this study, we address these problems by coating a polyethylene separator with a layer of activated carbon powder. A lithium-sulfur cell containing the activated carbon powder-coated separator exhibits an initial specific discharge capacity of $1400mAh\;g^{-1}$ at 0.1 C, and retains 63% of the initial capacity after 100 cycles at 0.2 C, whereas the equivalent cell with a bare separator exhibits a $1200mAh\;g^{-1}$ initial specific discharge capacity, and 50% capacity retention under the same conditions. The activated carbon powder-coated separator also enhances the rate capability. These results indicate that the microstructure of the activated carbon powder layer provides space for the sulfur redox reaction and facilitates fast electron transport. Concurrently, the activated carbon powder layer traps and reutilizes any polysulfides dissolved in the electrolyte. The approach presented here provides insights for overcoming the problems associated with lithium-sulfur batteries and promoting their practical use.
To efficiently attenuate seismic responses of a structure, a novel pneumatic-driven active dynamic vibration absorber (PD-ADVA) is proposed in this study. PD-ADVA aims to realize closed-loop control using a simple and intuitive control algorithm, which takes the structure velocity response as the input signal and then outputs an inverse control force to primary structure. The corresponding active control theory and phase control mechanism of the system are studied by numerical and theoretical methods, the system's control performance and amplitude-frequency characteristics under seismic excitations are explored. The capability of the proposed active control system to cope with frequency-varying random excitation is evaluated by comparing with the optimum tuning TMD. The analysis results show that the control algorithm of PD-ADVA ensures the control force always output to the structure in the opposite direction of the velocity response, indicating that the presented system does not produce a negative effect. The phase difference between the response of uncontrolled and controlled structures is zero, while the phase difference between the control force and the harmonic excitation is π, the theoretical and numerical results demonstrate that PD-ADVA always generates beneficial control effects. The PD-ADVA can effectively mitigate the structural seismic responses, and its control performance is insensitive to amplitude. Compared with the optimum tuning TMD, PD-ADVA has better control performance and higher system stability, and will not have negative effects under seismic wave excitations.
Turbulent jet discharges in subcooled water pools are essential for safety systems in nuclear power plants, specifically in the pressure suppression pool of boiling water reactors and In-containment Refueling Water Storage Tank of advanced pressurized water reactors. The gas and liquid flow in these systems is investigated using multiphase flow analysis. This field has been extensively examined using a combination of experiments, theoretical models, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. ANSYS CFX offers two approaches to model multiphase flow behavior. The non-homogeneous Eulerian-Eulerian Model has been used in this work; it computes global information and is more convenient to study interpenetrated fluids. This study utilized the Large Eddy Simulation Model as the turbulence model, as it is better suited for non-stationary and buoyant flows. The CFD results of this study were validated with experimental data and theoretical results previously obtained. The figures of merit dimensionless penetration length and the dimensionless buoyancy length show good agreement with the experimental measurements. Correlations for these variables were obtained as a function of dimensionless numbers to give generality using only initial boundary conditions. CFD numerical model developed in this research has the capability to simulate the behavior of non-condensable gases discharged in water.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the factors affecting digital entrepreneurship and digital innovation and the moderating effect of technology absorptive capacity. To achieve the research purpose, the contributing factors are set as technical characteristic (digital technology capability), organizational characteristics (digital learning capability and financial readiness), and institutional pressures (coercive pressure, mimetic pressure, and normative pressure). The research model and hypothesis are established based on the theoretical background of digital entrepreneurship, digital innovation, institutional pressure, and technology absorptive capacity. The proposed model is analyzed by targeting 104 companies. Smart Partial Least Square (PLS) 4.0 is utilized for deriving the study results. The results of hypothesis testing are as follows: First, digital technology capability, digital learning capability, financial readiness, and institutional pressure have a positive influence on digital entrepreneurship. Second, digital entrepreneurship has a positive impact on digital innovation. Finally, technology absorptive capacity has a moderating effect in influencing digital entrepreneurship on digital innovation. The results of this study emphasize the need for digital entrepreneurship in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and digital transformation, and may provide strategic implications for companies that desire to achieve digital innovation through digital entrepreneurship.
Franchising is one of the fastest growing types of business. It is already popular and well-known in the U.S., and has been growing in many other countries including Korea. Furthermore, many Korean franchising companies have expanded their business overseas actively. According to the data by the Ministry of Industry and Resource, 82 companies out of a sample of 500 franchising companies are already operating in many foreign countries and 48% of them have started their foreign business since 2006. This clearly indicates the fast growing current trend of foreign operation by Korean franchising companies. In spite of the fast growing trend of foreign expansion in the industry, academic research on internationalization of franchising companies is extremely difficult to find. Accordingly, academic research on the issue is necessary and urgent in Korea. Among the various research questions on internationalization of franchising business, this study intends to investigate the difference in organizational factors between the franchising companies doing foreign operation and those doing business only domestically. More specifically, this research has the following purposes. First, considering the lack of theoretical basis of previous studies, resource-based theory and agency theory are employed as the theoretical bases. Second, this study explains the difference in internationalization based on organizational factors such as company size, history and growth rate. Third, the five hypotheses regarding the difference in organizational factors are presented and tested empirically, which is the first attempt in the area of this topic. Finally, the study attempts to clarify the conflicting implications among theories regarding some organizational factos such as growth rate. As the theoretical background, resource-based theory and agency theory are discussed. According to resource-based theory, a firm can grow continuously when it has competence and resource, and also the ability to develop them. The competence and resource can include capital, human resource, management skill, market information, ability to manage risk, etc. Meanwhile, agency theory views the relationship between franchisor and franchisee as an agency relationship. In agency theory, bonding capability and monitoring capability are the two key factors which promote internationalization of franchising companies. Based on the two theories, a conceptual model is designed. The model consists of two groups of variables. One is organizational factors including size, history, growth rate, price bonding and geographic dispersion. The other is whether a franchising company is operating overseas or not. We developed the following five research hypotheses basically describing the relationship between organizational factors and internationalization of franchising companies. H1: The size of franchising companies operating overseas is larger than that of franchising companies operating domestically. H2: The history of franchising companies operating overseas is longer than that of franchising companies operating domestically. H3: The growth rate of franchising companies operating overseas is higher than that of franchising companies operating domestically. H4: The price bonding of franchising companies operating overseas is higher than that of franchising companies operating domestically. H5: The geographic dispersion of franchising companies operating overseas is wider than that of franchising companies operating domestically. Data for the analyses are obtained from 2005 Korea Franchise Survey data co-generated by Ministry of Industry and Resource, GS1 Korea, and Korea Franchise Association. Out of 2,804 population companies, 2,489 companies are excluded for various reasons and 315 companies are selected as the final sample. Prior to hypotheses tests, validity and reliability of the measures of size, history, growth rate and price bonding are examined for further analyses. Geographic dispersion is not validated since it is measured using nominal data. A series of independent sample T-tests is used to find out whether there exists any significant difference between the companies internationalized and those operating only domestically for each organizational factor. Among the five factors, size and geographic dispersion show significant difference, growth rate and price bonding do not reveal any difference and, finally, history factor shows conflicting results in the difference depending on how to measure it.

In conclusion, the results show that the size and history, which are the key variables in resource-based theory, have a significant relationship with internationalization and that geographic area, which belongs to agency theory, also has a strong relationship with internationalization. The results support the findings of extant research and, therefore, prove the usefulness of resource-based theory and agency theory in explaining internationalization of franchising companies. However, growth rate and price-bonding do not show a clear difference between the two types of companies. Accordingly, these two factors need further attention in the future research. Although this study shows meaningful findings theoretically and practically, it has several limitations. First, only organizational factors are considered even if there are various environmental factors influencing franchising firm's internationalization. Second, only being internationalized or not is considered. That is, modes of entry and the size of foreign operations are not included in the study. Third, internationalization strategy is often determined based on the desire for business expansion and higher profitability and egoistical reasons of the CEOs. However, this type of factors belonging to behavioral science is not discussed in the study. Finally, organizational ecology perspective is usefully applicable in explaining the survival and performance of internationally operating companies. Accordingly, research propositions based on this perspective need to be developed and tested.
This study was carried out as a basic fundamental research to propose a theoretical framework for Home Economics curriculum. This research employed the Delphi Method to reach a consensus with the experts in each related educational field of study for putting forth a newly proposed theoretical framework of a Home Economics curriculum. The finally proposed theoretical framework will definitely play a crucial role in establishing a standard framework for educational goals and curriculum content for Home Economics curriculum since it is put forth with a strong agreement from a high proportion of the expert groups. Results on the nature and characteristics of, structural framework of curriculum contents, and literacy through Home Economics were drawn from the 3-round Delphi survey: 1. Home economics has a liberal and practical-critical nature and it promotes enhancement of quality of life through a practical problem-solving process in maintaining family life. 2. The structural framework of the home economics curriculum contents is organized with three-dimensional components of content area (dimension 1), process area (dimension 2), focus of organizing content (dimension 3). 3. One's empowering capability through home economics education is proposed: inquiring knowledge and understanding phenomena for future society, solving practical problems in family life, developing higher order thinking skill, cultivating a positive attitude and a values system toward life.

In order to evaluate the dielectric recovery strength for GCBs, two equations have been usually utilized. One is the empirical formula obtained from a series of tests and the other is the theoretical formula obtained from the streamer theory. In this paper, both methods were applied to predict the small capacitive current interruption capability of model circuit breakers and were investigated in terms of the reliability by comparing the simulation results with test ones.

Theoretical efforts are performed to extend the formulation of NSLT(New Shear Lag Theory) for the prediction of the elastic modulus in short fiber composite. The formulation is based on the elastic stress transfer considering the stress concentration effects influenced by elastic modulus ratio between fiber and matrix. The composite modulus, thus far, is calculated by changing the fiber aspect ratio and volume fraction. It is found that the comparison with FEA(Finite Element Analysis) results gives a good agreement with the present theory (NSLT). It is also found that the NSLT is more accurate than the SLT(Shear Lag Theory) in short fiber regime when compared by FEA results. However, The modulus predicted by NSLT becomes similar values that of SLT when the fiber aspect ratio increases. Finally, It is shown that the present model has the capability to predict the composite modulus correctly in elastic regime.
