  • This study aims to investigate the effective method to improve the competence of the Vocabulary by the image and listening towards the ELF. In the first part, we observed the problems and point improvement on learning vocabulary based on learner survey. In the second part, we analyzed two remarkable studies: - consistent and adapt method, communicational context - method based on the lexical, morphological semantical, notional and thematic field Then we proposed effective methods that are applicable to the vocabulary's learning in the class : - learning vocabulary by combining the words - learning vocabulary based on the meaning field - learning vocabulary as concrete characters - learning vocabulary by the descriptive character - learning vocabulary with the type "who am I?" - learning vocabulary by listening For teachers, one of the difficulties to the conduct of vocabulary course is that learners take passive position. Specifically, it is the teachers who play an important role because it runs in the direction of the course. However, learners do not show the active attitude for vocabulary lessons despite the course to take to improve their vocabulary skills. Therefore, teachers must prepare course materials that can both improve the competence of the vocabulary of learners and cause their interest or desire on the current vocabulary. This is why teachers should exploit various materials depending on the skill level of the learner vocabulary.

Perceptions of preservice teachers on AI chatbots in English education

  • With recent scientific advances and growing interest in AI technologies, AI-based chatbots have been viewed as a practical learning aid for English language development. The purpose of this study is to examine preservice teachers' perceptions on the potential benefits of employing AI chatbots in English instruction and its pedagogical aspects. 28 preservice teachers majoring in English education were asked to use Kuki chatbots for a week with a guidance of a researcher and then report on their perceptions of AI chatbots in terms of perceived usefulness after use, applicability, and educational benefits and drawbacks. Emerging codes and themes were identified and evaluated using Thematic Analysis(TA) based on qualitative data from surveys and interviews. The findings show that six emerging themes were identified, encompassing perspectives on teacher, learner, communication, linguistic, affective, and assessment. The overall findings of this study revealed that AI-based chatbots can play a significant role as learning tools for stimulating interactive communication in a target language. Most preservice primary teachers acknowledge that AI chatbots can be useful as teaching and learning aids for both teachers and students. Furthermore, when applying various learner data to chatbot technology, such as learner assessment and diagnosis, a guided approach is necessary to perform a conversation appropriate for the learner's level and characteristics. Finally, as chatbots have a variety of benefits in terms of affective aspects, they may improve EFL learners' confidence in speaking English and learning motivation.

특수학교 보건교사의 돌봄 경험 (Experiences of School Health Teachers in Special Schools for Students with Disabilities)

  • Purpose: The gradual increase in the number of children with disabilities in Korea highlights the necessity for further research on the role of school health teachers in their care. This study explored the specific experiences of school health teachers in special schools through individual in-depth interviews. Methods: In this study, 11 school health teachers participated, and data were collected through individual in-depth interviews. Thematic analysis was employed to analyze the collected data. Results: The experiences of health teachers at special schools were classified into 5 themes and 13 subthemes. These included "concerns about working in special schools and attachment after working," "management of diverse diseases and ongoing, careful observation," "ambivalence regarding students with disabilities," "competences needed to care for students with disabilities," and "enhancing care education for students with disabilities: demanding institutional support." Conclusion: Effective student health management depends on open communication channels and the establishment of strong connections among health teachers, school personnel, and parents of impaired students. To enhance the quality of care for children with disabilities, specialized education programs to improve teachers' healthcare competency should be developed. Additionally, specific guidelines for the range of medical treatments provided by health instructors, should be devised.

Non-Suicidal Self-Injury and Emotional Dysregulation in Male and Female Young Adults: A Qualitative Study

  • Objectives: Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) has been theoretically, clinically, and empirically associated with emotional dysregulation. NSSI is a means of regulating emotional states, particularly negative emotions. However, empirical studies on this topic are scarce and the literature lacks qualitative research on individuals' perceptions and comprehension of the function of self-injury. Thus, this qualitative study aimed to provide novel insights into the relationship between NSSI and emotional dysregulation in young adults. Methods: Twelve participants (mean age=22.7 years, 9 females and 3 males) from different support groups and a healthcare center participated in semi-structured interviews on NSSI-related emotional processes. Three aspects were investigated: reasons for NSSI, function of NSSI, and emotions. Each interview was voice recorded and typically lasted between 20 and 40 minutes. All responses were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results: Four major themes were identified. The results showed that NSSI had both intrapersonal and interpersonal functions, within which emotional regulation played a significant role. NSSI was also used to regulate positive emotions. The results also showed a sequence of emotions among the participants, going from feeling overwhelmed to feeling relatively calm but guilty. Conclusion: NSSI has several functions for the same individual. Thus, it would be interesting to provide integrative therapy, such as emotion-focused therapy, which focus on improving intrapersonal and interpersonal emotion regulation skills and strategies.

  • Purpose: In an increasingly globalized world, foreign direct investment (FDI) plays an essential role in the economic improvement of countries. This study aims to delve into the topic of overseas direct investment (FDI) and offer a complete analysis of its strategic advantages and disadvantages. By thoroughly examining the present literature, this study aims to discover and explore the diverse advantages and drawbacks. Research design, data and methodology: The information analysis system systematically and rigorously examined the selected studies. The evaluation will follow a thematic technique in which conventional subject matters and styles associated with FDI's strategic benefits and downsides can be recognized and synthesized. Data extraction contained relevant facts from the chosen research, along with the study objectives. Results: This study provides the findings of the, which explores the strategic advantages and disadvantages of foreign direct investments (FDI) primarily based on the evaluation of previous research. A comprehensive review of the identified benefits and drawbacks highlights their implications for businesses engaged in FDI. Conclusions: In sum, the findings offer valuable insights for practitioners, guiding their decision-making methods in the international commercial enterprise landscape. Organizations can function for fulfillment and sustainable development in the global marketplace by leveraging the advantages and effectively managing demanding situations.

도시현황분석과 시설물 입지분석의 과학화를 위한 센서스와 GIS의 연계 활용방안 연구 (A Study of Collaboration between GIS and Census Data for Urban Analysis and Location Analysis)

  • 본 연구의 결과에 의하면, 첫째, 수치지도 개발이 완결되고, 센서스트랙제도가 채택되고, 각종 연관자료들이 전산화되면 GIS의 갖가지 표현, 연산, 중첩기능을 통하여 지형, 인구, 주택을 비롯한 각종 경제, 사회자료들이 센서스트랙 내지는 블락그룹 등 소규모 지역 단위의 주제도 혹은 주소 단위의 점묘도로 알아보기 쉽게 화면에 나타내어져 각종 도시현황분석에 신뢰성 있게 쓰일 수 있다. 둘째, 시설물의 입지결정은 사회가 다원화 될수록 시간이 오래 걸리고 구설수를 피할 수 없는데, GIS는 수치지도를 포함한 도시의 각종 자료들을 그대로, 변형하여, 모델링시키며, 또한 다양한 의사결정방법들과 결합하여 화면상에 표현하며 신속하고도 과학적인 의사결정을 이루는데 큰 역할을 담당할 수 있다고 본다. 결론적으로, GIS와 센서스를 비롯한 각종 도시정보들이 이와같이 결합되고 활용된다면 신속하고도 신뢰성 있는 도시현황분석과 시설물입지분석을 가능케하고, 궁극적으로 보다 나은 행정서비스를 이룰 수 있다고 본다.

Safety Culture: A Retrospective Analysis of Occupational Health and Safety Mining Reports

  • Background: In the mining industry, various methods of accident analysis have utilized official accident investigations to try and establish broader causation mechanisms. An emerging area of interest is identifying the extent to which cultural influences, such as safety culture, are acting as drivers in the reoccurrence of accidents. Thus, the overall objective of this study was to analyze occupational health and safety (OHS) reports in mining to investigate if/how safety culture has historically been framed in the mining industry, as it relates to accident causation. Methods: Using a computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software, 34 definitions of safety culture were analyzed to highlight key terms. Based on word count and contextual relevance, 26 key terms were captured. Ten OHS reports were then analyzed via an inductive thematic analysis, using the key terms. This analysis provided a concept map representing the 50-year data set and facilitated the use of text framing to highlight safety culture in the selected OHS mining reports. Results: Overall, 954 references and six themes, safety culture, attitude, competence, belief, patterns, and norms, were identified in the data set. Of the 26 key terms originally identified, 24 of them were captured within the text. The results made evident two distinct frames in which to interpret the data: the role of the individual and the role of the organization, in safety culture. Conclusion: Unless efforts are made to understand and alter cultural drivers and share these findings within and across industries, the same accidents are likely to continue to occur.

자연사박물관에서 관람객의 학습을 중재하는 도슨트의 담화특성에 대한 사례연구 (A Case Study on the Discourse Characteristics of Docents Who Mediate Visitor's Learning in the Natural History Museum)

  • 이 연구는 자연사박물관에서 도슨트와 관람객 간의 활발한 상호작용이 나타나는 담화의 특성을 이해하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 서대문자연사박물관 도슨트 1인과 과천과학관의 도슨트 1인이 이 연구에 참여하였다. 관람객의 학습을 중재하는 담화 특성을 분석하기 위해 교수학적담화분석을 사용하였다. 연구 결과 "관람객의 의미있는 참여를 독려하는 담화(EVMP)"와 "관람객의 단순 참여를 독려하는 담화(EVSP)"가 파악되었다. EVMP는 주제 흐름과 정보 흐름 모두에서 구조적 응집성이 나타났다. 도슨트와 관람객은 정보 제공자의 역할을 공유했으며, 상호작용을 통해 "주제"가 발전되었다. 반면 EVSP는 구조적 응집성이 약했다. 관람객이 담화에 참여함에도 불구하고 그들의 담화는 "주제"를 발전시키는데 공헌하지 못했다. 이 때문에 대부분의 정보는 도슨트에 의해서 발전되고 확장되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 도슨트는 관람객이 담화 중 보여주는 선지식을 이해하고 있어야 하며, 이를 담화 주제에 활용할 수 있어야 함을 제안하였다. 또한 도슨트 양성 과정에서도 전시물의 내용에 대한 풍부한 지식 뿐 아니라 관람객의 의미 있는 참여를 이끌어 낼 수 있는 능력에 대한 학습 기회를 제공할 것을 제안하였다.

지역사회 공론장으로서 공공도서관 역할에 대한 연구 - 서울 성북구립도서관 사례를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Roles of Public Libraries as Community Public Spheres: Focused on the Case of Seongbuk Public Libraries in Seoul)

  • 본 연구는 지역사회 공론장으로서 공공도서관의 역할을 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 공공도서관이 운영한 공론장 사례에 대한 분석을 통해 공론장에서 나타나는 도서관 역할의 주요 특징과 의미를 고찰하였다. 데이터 수집은 서울 성북구립도서관의 공론장을 운영한 사서와의 면담을 통해 이루어졌다. 수집된 데이터의 주제별 분석을 위해 NVivo를 사용하여 코딩하였다. 연구 결과, 공론장에서 확인된 도서관 역할의 주요 특징과 의미는 1) 지역 주민의 만남과 소통, 교류의 장, 2) 주제에 대한 정보제공과 토론을 통한 주민의 학습과 성장 지원, 3) 지역사회의 주민 참여를 확대하고 시민으로서의 역량 강화, 4) 지역 주민의 민주주의 경험을 확대, 5) 도서관에 대한 지역 주민의 인식 개선과 주민에 대한 도서관의 영향력 확대라는 다섯 가지 유형으로 나타났다. 특히 이 연구에서는 도서관의 정보서비스를 통해 공론 주제에 대한 시민의 상호작용과 공론 확산이 강화되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이 연구의 결과는 도서관이 지역사회 공론장으로 개발되고 지원되기 위한 근거로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

지질 피해예상 및 절취 난이도분석을 위한 GIS응용 연구 (Analysis of Geological Risk and Excavation Index using GIS Techinque)

  • GIS를 이용하여 청주지역을 대상으로 다양한 지질공학 분석들이 통일된 종합 시스템내에서 실시되었다.지질재해,특히 산사태의 재해(hazard)발생과 피해(risk) 예상분석, 개발지역에 대한 토공량 자동분석과 절취 난이도분석 모델 개발 등 종합적인 지질공학 분석들이 당연구 그룹에 구현된 환경지질정보시스템내에서 아주 경제적으로 처리되었다. 실제로 지반 처리를 위한 지질공학연구는 많은 실내 실험자료들을 필요로 한다.그러나 GIS는 기본적인 지질공학 자료들로 부터 다양한 GIS지도모형연구를 통하여 복잡한 분석단계들을 점차 단순화 시킴은 물론,우리가 지금까지 생각해온 지질공학 기술들을 변화시키고,자료들은 조직화하는 능력이 있다.본 연구를 통하여 하나의 통일된 시스템하에서 분석된 GIS의 다양한 지질공학 연구들은 이러한 기본 생각들을 실제로 증명하는 계기가 됨은 물론 지질공학분야에 있어서 GIS의 활용도를 높일 것이다.산사태 분석 모델은 당연구그룹에서 1992년에 개발한 기존 모델을 연구 지역의 특성을 고려하여 재구성 시켰으며, 첨단 산업기지 예정지에서의 절취 난이도 분석모델은 실제 토목공사에 직접 활용될 수 있음은 물론 현재 당연구그룹에서 개발 진행중인 지질공학 분석용 GIS전문가 시스템의 일부이다.
