The purpose of this study is to investigate preferences of middle-aged people for elderly housing in order to properly plan elderly housing; 1 ) To analyze the middle-aged peoples' preferences for elderly housing in each situation based on the following 4 categories; elderly couple/healthy, elderly couple/unhealthy, elderly living alone/healthy, elderly living alone/unhealthy. 2) To clarify the differences in preferences for elderly housing according to the subjects' backgrounds in each case. This research intends to understand the form of elderly housing and desire for the environment of subjects, middle-age, who will be old aged, and the change of preference to characteristics for elderly housing according to the change of situation. The data were collected through structured questionnaires. The subject were 298 middle-aged, 40-50's who will be experiencing aging, major customer of elderly housing in the future.

With the improvement of living quality, people's desire for quiet living environment keeps increasing. In particular, complaints about the noise emission by constrcution equipments around residential areas take most part of the noise related complaints. In this study, noise marking obligation system for the high noise construction equipment have been proposed to reduce the noise level and protect the well-being of citizens. For this purpose, construction equipment used in the country were surveyed and compared with that of the European Directive/2000/14/EC. As results, 20 kinds of construction equipment were proposed for the obligated noise marking, while 13 kinds of construction equipment were proposed for the equipment subject to permissible noise level, thus the obligated noise marking and certification.

Disentangling is the essential operation of Feynman's operational calculus for noncommuting operators. Thus formulas which simplify this operation are central to the subject. In a recent paper the procedure for 'extracting a linear factor' has been established in the setting of Feynman's operational calculus for time independent operators $A_1, ... , A_n$ and associated probability measures ${\mu}_1,..., {\mu}_n$. While the setting just described is natural in many circumstances, it is not natural for evolution problems. There the measures should not be restricted to probability measures and it is worthwhile to allow the operators to depend on time. The main purpose for this paper is to extend the procedure for extracting a linear factor to this latter setting. We should mention that Feynman's primary motivation for developing an operational calculus for noncommuting operators came from a desire to describe the evolution of certain quantum systems.m systems.

In furniture design, it is very important to choose adequate materials. Transparent materials provide expectations and reveals unique effects unlike others. As transparent materials, glass and acrylic have light and fresh impression from their transparency, and are frequently used in structuring neat space. Despite its good merits, glass is not able to satisfy designers desire in making various shape and structure. It has defect in manufacturing process because it requires professional, specialized studio. Compared to glass, acrylic has its merit in processing and stability, and also is very economical. Acrylic is easily used with woodworking tool. In addition, acrylic has unique texture. This study is on the attempt to apply acrylic to the furniture as artistic element.

컴퓨터게임에 대한 여러 가지 논의는 부정적이거나 기술적인 연구의 한계점을 보이지만, 그 가능성과 사회적 영향력에 대한 부분은 우리 생활 깊이 들어와 인식되고 있다. 다양한 분야에 걸쳐 복잡한 특성을 드러내는 컴퓨터게임은 현 디지털시대와 이 시대를 살고 있는 모두를 포함하여 이들의 문화와 크게 밀접한 연관성을 가진다. 이에 따라 컴퓨터게임이 어떻게 현 시대를 반영하고, 영향력을 미치는지에 대해 다각도의 학문적 접근이 필요함을 밝히고자 한다. 결핍에서만 생겨나는 욕망의 주체가 컴퓨터게임이라는 즐김의 공간에서 일상과는 대립된 가상을 실현하는 심리적 관점에서의 관찰과 함께 양방향적인 게임의 특성을 각각의 이론들과 연관지어 보면서, 막연한 부정적인 시각에서 벗어나 컴퓨터게임을 여러 분야의 만남의 장으로 인식하고 문화로서 바라보는 객관적 시각의 필요성을 밝혀보고자 한다.

We have attached importance to the values of spirit and immateriality. As the age of modernism of rationality ended, human being began to emphasize spiritual and immaterial while accepting multiplicity and diversification in the whole areas of society and culture. Hence interests have increased in another side of human spirit that was oppressed by rational, analytic, reasonable and scientific thinking, which has expanded the inner world of human being to the world of the unconscious. According to these paradigm changes, steady efforts to improve our lives better both materially and spiritually have been made in the areas of art and design. Therefore, the current study aims to examine the meaning of object expressed in space from the viewpoint of the unconscious, focusing on works of designer Philippe Starck after 2000 in which unique, preferential and liking characteristics are expressed well. Philippe Starck is a designer who connects design with our daily lives and formalizes it with creative ideas. Also the study theoretically explored the theory of the unconscious, a concept of Freudianism, based on 'Meaning of Dreams' of Freud, and explained the expressional characteristics and meaning of unconscious desire through his works by putting object in Philippe Starck's space. It aims to grope for the meaning of object as another possibility that can function as a spatial ruling element by analyzing object through expanding the extent of correlation and interpretation between human containing spiritual things and object which is the recognition subject in space of the present time, not a mere concept as substance like in the past, and expression of Starck's unconscious desire based on unconscious theory.

A long life is the desire of many people. The purpose of this study was to describe the thoughts that are held by elderly people about long life as the elderly are approaching the end of life. The research was conducted using an ethnographic method to add understanding to this subject. The field work for this study was done from July, 1991 to August, 1993 in third phases in Chun Buk province. The results of the present study show the following : The thoughts of the elderly about chang su showed three important concepts : In Myoung Sae Chun(lived as life), Su Cheuk Dah Yok(long life is a disgraces, and Transcendence of life: In Myoung Sae Chun showed the thought of limitation of man’s life and realistic thought about the life through free oneself from death and life. Su Cheuk Dah Yok meant experience of physical difficulty, experience of sons and daughter’s death ahead one’s own self. Senility was the most afraid problem for the elderly. Transcendence of life showed pursuit of a continuing life through connected with sons and the family. The conditions promoting chang su were described as clear water, fresh air, adequate eating, deep sleeping, gender(female). In addition it showed that ecological and environmental conditions (heavy work, starvation, vegetable food, physical environment, respection for the elderly). These results showed that the elderly was recognized one’s own self as living being rather than adhered to the life, and will promote understanding the elderly’s desire for long life. Also, suggested to nursing practice that should maintain self-esteem and respect for the elderly, Therefore, these results can be used nursing practice for the elderly.

I hope to demonstrate in this paper the degree to which the works of Leonard and Virginia Woolf, mainly The Wise Virgins, The Village in the Jungle, and The Voyage Out, are contained within the politics of home. In doing so, I aim to challenge some mainstream criticism that affirms their resistance to British imperial desire. Although their statuses as outsiders in the British Empire, being a Jew and being a woman respectively, allowed Leonard and Virginia Woolf to criticize British imperialism and a male-dominated culture as well as racial and cultural hierarchies to a degree, their works inevitably unveil their prioritization of the British white-oriented space. In some ways their authorial positions in relation to their texts uphold the imperial center as an invisible regime of truth in their narratives, supporting the patriarchal and imperial binary oppositional structure and its hierarchical order imposed not only on the British subject but also on the foreign, colonial others. Leonard's and Virginia's inconsistencies and ambiguities betray their racial distantiation and notions of British white superiority, as disclosed in their racially stereotyped descriptions and the absence of real communication between the British characters and the colonial, foreign others. The work of self-repetition, the major mechanism in the politics of home, dies hard in Leonard's and Virginia's 'antiimperial' works. Leonard's and Virginia's struggle to stand against the imperial desire needs a genuine ethical position in order to embrace the Other, which would allow us to explore further and guard against the pitfall of postcolonial criticism's being easily degenerated into a neo-colonial criticism, another politics of home.

It is very common to produce fairytales, folktales, or fables into animations. If they often transform existing works into animations, we may have to examine how they change the original to communicate with the audience and also how they change the original's subject matter or theme to create meaning. The purpose of this study is to consider how the original's meaning and value were changed as Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale, "The Snow Queen", was converted into an animation, , and also how it influenced the work itself. To attain the goal, this author is going to comparatively analyze the two works' narratives, actants, and semiotic squares by using A.J. Greimas' semiology. According to the findings, although "The Snow Queen" expresses the desire to go back to happy days in the past, it is not a simple return to the past but a stepwise process to become mature mentally as well as religiously. Meanwhile, intends to generate past-oriented meaning expressing the desire to return what is abnormal in the present to what was normal in the past and resolve the individual and religious aspects of "The Snow Queen" in a social and popular way.

This article re-reads the messages of the text, 'Incendies', the uncanny actions and the strange words of protagonist Nawal, through the ideas of Jacques Lacan, particularly his notion of sexuation with posing questions about most of the previous reviews which are based on femininity or motherhood. For Lacan, masculinity and femininity are not biological essences but symbolic positions, and the assumption of one of these two positions is fundamental to the construction of subjectivity. So 'man' and 'woman' are merely signifiers that stand for these two subjective positions. Each side is defined by both an affirmation and a negation of the phallic function, by both an inclusion and exclusion of absolute non-phallic jouissance. Unlike the man, the woman is 'not-all' identified with the phallic function, demonstrating the undecidability and impossibility of totalising the woman. Although the woman is bound to do castration through being subject to the phallic function, she is also related to the signifier of the barred Other, S(Ⱥ) which stands for a gap or lack in the Other. Thus, as a consequence of not being entirely within the symbolic, she has an Other Jouissance, Feminine Jouissance, because it's possible to face emptiness of the Symbolic, the Real only in the place of the woman for new Ethics/Politics. This paper finds that Nawal is not completely defined by the phallic function and she is a subject of death drive that practices the signifying cut with passing through the fantasy as a screen for the desire of the Other. Nawal is situated on the position of the woman as 'not-all' unlike masculinity in Lacanian sexuation. This article shows that her strange acts are love, that is the true ethical acts. Above all her acts are related to the ethics of pure desire beyond the ethics of the Good of Aristotle. In that sense the character of Nawal of 'Incendies' is similar to the one of 'Antigone' as a character in all aspects. In psychoanalysis they all are true subjects that face a void, emptiness in a symbolic structure. They assume underlying impossibility of being/the Symbolic. They don't represent the images of compromise and peace in the normally accepted meaning of the word. A love that they show is not compassion but blind recognition of the excluded, embracing uniqueness of the excluded. This thesis finds resultingly Nawal's acts which can't be understood from viewpoint of feminism practice the ethics of the real, the politics of the real.
