  • Sourcing Simulator is specialized form of software capable of providing great insight into merchandising decision making. It is relatively easy to learn and operate by reading the help menus, experimenting with inputs, and critically analyzing outputs. 1 see that it has great potential in a training program for new merchandisers to help them absorb the complexity of the numbers they must effectively use. The Sourcing Simulator, Version 1 that accompanies my textbook, Merchandising: Theory Principles, and Practice, 2nd ed. is the least complex version available. Two versions are available from [TC]2 - Retail version and The Retail/ Manufacturing version. The Retail Version is very similar to the Version 1. The Retail/ Manufacturing Version includes analysis of processes and costs in the manufacturing process as well as the merchandise planning component that we have discussed here. Sourcing Simulator is developed at North Carolina State University by Dr. Russ King, and available from Textile Clothing Technology Corporation $[TC]^2$, Cary, North Carolina.

  • In this dissertation, the same reading and writing operation of general SRAM, the algonthm and hardware of 8 bit $\times$16 word CAM(Content Addressable Memory) which carry out the parallel that search is presented. The designed CAM chip consists of five functional blocks (CAM cell array, Address Deceden, Address Encoden. Data Selector, Sense Amplifier). The smulation is performed using logic smmulator on Apollo workstation and PSPICE eitcut simulation on PC/AT. The designed CAM was fabricated by 3um CMOS N Well process (ETRI) design nitles and testing was performed.

  • An immersion-type on-line refractometer useful for the in-situ measurement of chemical composition and temperature is developed, and its performance is examined by applying the refractometer to known alcohol solution having concentrations between 0 vol. % and 25 vol. %. Because refractive index and temperature are measured simultaneously, it is possible to compensate the effect of temperature for fast and direct measurement. The outcome of composition measurement for the different concentrations of alcohol solution indicates that the device is suitable for the chemical composition measurement by yielding stable and reproducible reading.

  • A psychophysical measurement technique called "magnitude estimation" was used to evaluate several interior design alternatives for a high speed train. Pas- senger activity, seat direction, and passenger age were manipulated by using a three factor within-subjects experimental design. During the experiment, two dependent measures, a line length and a numerical estimate for each alternative design were collected to validate the experimental procedures. The results showed that pasnger seats arranged in the same direction as the running direction of the train was favored nine times more than the opposite. Also, the subjects preferred listening to music in a coach train to the other activities such as reading newspaper, watching a movie, and resting. This paper demonstrates that a psychophysical technique can be sued in the design of a development process, especially when it is difficult to quantify design variables such as subjective opinion or preference, etc.

  • This study suggested the necessity of subject access for understanding on the contents of children's books which library would select children's books efficiently. Especially it was presented examples of efficiency on subject access analyzing Korean translation fiction of Newbery Medal Winner's books. Besides subject on the contents of books, it suggested fiction genre and gender and age of protagonist as elements which should be taken into account in process of Subject Headings development.

  • In RFID System, when multiple tags respond simultaneously, a collision can occur. A method that solves this collision is referred to anti-collision algorithm. In 13.56MHz RFID system, STAC protocol is defined as an anti-collision algorithm for multiple tag reading. In STAC protocol, there is no differentiation between the collided tags and others in the identification process. Therefore, tags may never be successfully identified because its responses may always collide with others. This situation may cause the tag starvation problem. This paper proposes a fair identification scheme for STAC protocol. In the proposed scheme, if the number of collided slots is large during a query round, the reader broadcasts a CollisionRound command to begin a collision round. During the collision round, the reader identifies only tags that are experienced collision during the previous query round.

  • In the future energy environment, a power information system will meet the real-time capability to process the emergency events, unexpected blackouts or over-load, and the high performance to provide the consumer service events such as remote meter reading. In addition to, it must have facility which is able to process a large information occurred on system effectively. In this paper, we developed a distributed power information system based on event with metadata processing technique which was both load balancing and decreased hot spot using XML that was efficient for information exchange. In order to experiment, we made a reduced future power system with controling power device using wireless communications and we could do experiments through it.

  • David Simon's critically acclaimed HBO series, The Wire (2002-2008), has frequently been termed "Dickensian" for its ambition to present urban social reality in its totality. Primarily focusing on the fourth season, which offers a wide-lens, deeply contextualized investigation into Baltimore's failing public school system, I interpret the show intertextually to discern its different forms of urban pedagogy. With Dickens's Hard Times and other narrative intertexts, I argue that The Wire, with its "Dickensian" attentiveness to the relations of part and whole, attachment and detachment, foregrounds the act of reading and misreading social reality. This is fundamentally a pedagogic process, positioning its characters and viewers as "students," imparting to them lessons in critical thinking. The knowledge gained is largely negative; nevertheless, teaching The Wire in a Korean university has revealed its efficacy in provoking student-viewers to critical reflection on urban social reality and their own positionality.

  • Distribution ayatems at the final stage of the power supply process are directly and extensively connected to customers. There are growing demands for more efficient operation and higher reliability. This paper describes the embodiment of distribution automation using internet networks. We suggest the large region distribution server system for distribution automation functions in local area network, automated meter reading system and directed load control system with by-directional communication.

  • In this study, we suggest a new segmentation algorithm for processing airborne laser point cloud data which is more memory efficient and faster than previous approaches. The main principle is the reading of data points along a scan line and their direct classification into homogeneous groups as a single process. The results of our experiments demonstrate that the algorithm runs faster and is more memory efficient than previous approaches. Moreover, the segmentation accuracy is generally acceptable.
