  • Yang Shangseon(楊上善)'s "Hwangjenaegyeongtaeso(黃帝內經太素)" was the first commentary book of "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)", its importance often mentioned in level with Wang Bing (王冰)'s "Somun(素問)" "Yeongchu(靈樞)". The distinctive feature of Yang Sangseon(楊上善)'s commentary is that it is easy to comprehend in accordance with an organized classification, and that the explanations are simple and clear. Despite strict application of the Eumyang(陰陽, Yinyang) theory and Five phases[五行] theory throughout the text, should there be sentences which fall out of consistency with the basic theories, he added his own substantial commentary. His medical theory gives attention to the Meridian system[經絡], lays emphasis on developing the soul[神], and has a unique opinion about the Opening closing and pivot[開闔樞] theory along with the Myeongmun(命門). To explain the methods for preserving health[養生], he adopted the Nojang philosophy(老莊思想); to enrich the vitality he adopted the Buddhist philosophy(佛敎思想); and to analyze physiologic and pathogenic factors, he adopted the Confucian philosophy(儒家思想).

  • This study attempts to illuminate Ijema's philosophy of Four-Constitution as a new political theory of human beings as it has been regarded as the philosophy of Body-Politics and Life World[Body-Community], the notion of which was formulated quite uniquely according to the doctrine of Post-Juhi(朱子) in Joseon(朝鮮) dynasty. The philosophy of Four-Constitution was the result of succession of and reflection upon a long tradition; since the crisis aroused of Confucianism as a pragmatic science and a pure theory of science, after having collided with the science of the west, Ijema as a Confucian scholar and a oriental medicine struck upon and opened a new way to a discursive solution, the philosophy of Four-Constitution as Body Politics and Life World of New Paradigm by reconsidering the fundamental spirit and ideology of the doctrine of confucian tradition.

  • Dong-Mu's philosophy is based on the postulation of 'Sa Sim Sin Mul'. The attempt toactualize the postulation is seen through the books 'Kyun chigo' and 'Dongeuisusebowon'. That is to say the physiology, pathology and pharmacology of Sasang based on Dong-Mu's philosophy all belong to the category of Sa Sim Sin Mul. But the interpretations of Sasang prescription have been made as 'The recipe for symptoms'. it is different from Dong-Mu's view. Appearing of disease can interpretate the strength and weakness of resistance based on the constitution. So, I tried to analogize properties of drugs showed in his writings on the assumption of resistance of the constitution.

  • Nei Ching referred to as a canon of Chinese medicine is a comprehensive life philosophy that applied the life principle of the universe to the human body to combine the philosophical concept with the human nature as well as the functions of the body's organs. The book formed a complete system of a Qi Philosophy by using the medical terminology and theory based on the concept of Qi. It is remarkable that the Qi philosophy of Chang Tsai, who is a Neo-Confucianist and representative scholar of Qi philosophy in the era of Song Dynasty, has been influenced by the Qi philosophy in Nei Ching and developed into a Confucian school Furthermore, Chang Tsai's theory, in effect, impacted upon the rise of Qi Determination of the Human Nature in Medicine of Zhang Jie Bin who is a profound thinker in the era of Ming dynasty. As mentioned above, both traditional philosophy and medical philosophy in china in regard to Qi Theory have interacted and developed each other. This paper is to make a comparative study of the Qi Determination of the Human Nature proposed by Chang Tsai and Zhang Jie Bin and to trace the orgin of the Qi Determination of Human Nature.

  • The methodology of the Oriental philosophy is deductive and that of the of Occidental philosophy is inductive. Therefore study on the Oriental philosophy must start from right comprehension of fundamental premise before detailed analysis. The writer studied the meaning of the cosmology which forms the basis of Sa-sang constitutional philosophy and the propriety of visceral assignment by Sa-sang constitution which forms the theoletiacal basis of Sa-sang constitutional medicine. The results are following ; 1. The cosmology of Lee jae-ma has the existent principle but don't have the side of the formative principie. 2. The cosmology of Lee jae-ma is not that searchs for the objective rule of nature but that centers around a human being by subjective understanding system. 3. The cosmology consists of four elements, that is mind(心), body(身), events(事), and nature(物). Among them mind and body means a human being, nature means the natural environment containing time and space, events means not that of nature but that of human being. 4. The mind and body as Yin-yang(陰陽) means the state which objects and self become one. 5. The mind as the Great-Absolute(太極) has the possibility of two interpretation, Firstly it means the state of the source of life which nature and human being become one, and secondly it means that the mind of a human being becomes the cosmos or the center of the cosmos. 6. In the visceral assignment by Sa-sang constitution the position of heart, the Great-Absolute in center is immanent within four viscera and the function of it is that the undifferentiated unitary organic body, after it is diffrentiated still serves as the unitary organic whole by mutual connection, adjustment, unification and supervision. 7. The Great-Absolute in center is divided into the Great-Absolute of mind and that of body. And the Great-Absolute of body consists of the heart and the system of blood vessel, that of mind means the self-consciousness(自我).
