This study is performed to improve the elevation design of schools by the tools of color. Color is a very powerful design tool, one that is capable of altering the perception of a building or a space. The present form and material of elevations of schools are very monotonous and uniform. Therefore students do not have attachment for schools. And also in neighborhood, schools do not function as a good landmark. This study aims to develop good sample of exterior color design for schools and verify the guideline of color design for schools which was went ahead of this study. Through the survey of color preference and color image preference of the students of Seoul High School, the attitude of students to color were considered in design. The exterior color design for Seoul High School was realized. The result of this study suggests that the exterior color design can improve the image and plasticity of present schools. But within the monotonous character of present elevation, the effect of color design will be limited. Therefore to make a effective project, exterior color design should be accompanied with the alteration of elevation to make a plastic element of elevation.

Until 1960, the major housing type of rural area in Korea was traditional wooden frame building, which was made of natural materials. In the course of modernization and New Village Movement, most of traditional houses have been renovated focusing on changing roof material of rice straw into slate, keeping existing main wooden structure. And then from around 1980, by economical development the new houses have been constructed. On these three phases of traditional type, remodeling type and new construction type, the natural materials of housing facade as wood, soil, stone and plant changed into artificial materials as cement, chemical material and paint. At the same time the exterior color of housing also have been changed and varied. The purpose of this thesis is to find out the changing aspect of exterior color by comparing remodeled and new constructed housing with of traditional housing. The exterior color of one hundred and fifty seven houses were surveyed and the three color attributes of each part of facade, as roof, wall and window, were analyzed and compared. In case of traditional houses, 98.3% of color are concentrated on the warm color of Y and YR on HUE scale, and 88% of their color are low Chroma. And Value of their color has been varied and spreaded from low to high Value scale. From traditional types to remodeled and new constructed houses, the concentration ratio of warm color on Hue scale reduced from 98.3% to 68.7% and ratio of low Chroma was also changed from 88% to 73.2% and the ratio of low Value color reduced from 51.9% to 29.7%. The exterior color of houses in rural area varied on Hue, and the more saturated colors were used and they became brighter compared with color of traditional houses. It is expected that the results of this study can be used for basic data of exterior color planning and improvement into harmonized color with natural environment.

The university building which is located in Daehak-ro where the commercial buildings are. The color of the building exterior and the signs are various to distinguish. To recognize the building exterior among the surrounding areas, it needs visual and bright color on it. The blue and white selected from the color of university identity. The core of the building is treated as a tower In vertically and white color is painted. And the rest parts of the building are treated horizontally and blue color is painted. The color of the building exterior shows the visual effects not only symbolism but attention.

This study tried to search the defferences between color designer's intentions of the exterior color design in elementary school design and the students' recognitions. I made a questionare for the elementary school students who are in the 3 schools which are located in the north Kyung-Gi Do. I got the some conclusions as follows. First, the elementary students have different recognitions of the exterior color of the school from coloer designers' intentions. Second, with fixing the Hue, changing the Value and Chroma, the students have more preferances than before. And they have more preferances in high value higher than N8, and they have more preferance lower than 4 in chroma. But in chroma, they have highest preferance in existing status which are low chromas. Therefore, when exterior color designing in elrmentary school design, designer must consider high value higher than N8, and low chroma lower than 4.

The purpose of this study is to provide practical guide for the Preference of exterior design in Apartment. The data is collected through questionnaire survey including observations and interviews. The sample consists of 229. The data is analyzed by using SPSS-PC. The major findings are as follows. (1) Most of residents recognize the importance of exterior design of apartments. (2) Most of residents are satisfied with the exterior design such as building form, color, and material and not satisfies with environment of apartments. (3) The most preferred color of Apartment is white as primary color and green as secondary color. (4) The most preferred color pattern is vertical type as facade, horizontal type as the back wall, super graphic and geometrical type as the side wall. (5) The preferred exterior images are modern, simple, and unique style.

The aim of this study is to provide practical guide for exterior design in apartment and to propose a device to improve the quality of residential environment by the color planning. Color is a language of context and used as a visual aid to recognize the objects and spaces in the world around us. In this sense, each color perception is unique to its own setting and not subject to any universal rules of thumbs, Therefore, when designing with color, each setting will demand its own specific set of rules. A balanced color scheme has to make the environment more pleasant for people to live in . Fro the exterior in housing the use of color has to be considered not just in its wider context of the architecture or surrounding but as an element of the life of the inhabitant. So it is considered on the type of people who will live in and visual condition of site. In this study , the objective model of systematic design process for environmental color planning is proposed on the basis of theroetical background and references investigated, By the existing thesis, resident's preference of the exterior color and foumular of composition in apartment was invastigated . In general theories, based on the theory Birren's color harmony for color coordination an design principles, a device of exterior color design in apartment was suggested by the course of reasonable design process. Color in environment plays many different roles. It integrates the architecture with the site. If color is use well, it can soften architecture that is too harsh, it can give a sense of identity to different part of site and improve a city's image. The environmental color is effective media to enhance the aesthetic value of architecture and environment.

The purpose of this study is to extract the rage on exterior colors of Elementary schools in harmony with natural colors as the colors of sky and trees, of Which the colors is basically composing the natural environment. The theory of harmony in NCS relatively expressing the changed colors according to the color stimulation condition is the contrast of same color fit for the nature. NCS has a systematic open mind considering parts in the whole. The study suggests appropriate strategy for Eco-color scheme. The result shows that it's desirable to select YR Group in the elementray school of exterior color design, The Eco color planned by NCS is expected to clarify the interrelationship between children and environment. This practical use should be continuingly tried in the color design of interior for elementary schools.

The object of this study is to find out our present exterior color palette of the apartment buildings by Han River, which represents the visual image of Seoul, to reveal how well it is harmonized with its surroundings along with the last 10 years researches, and to compare its correspondence with the city plan of Seoul. Furthermore, it is the ultimate purpose to prepare source materials for desirable color plan of the city.
