  • We designed a knowledge-based decision support system for structuring semi-or unstructured problems. Problem structuring involves extraction of the relevant factors from the identified problem, and model construction that represents the relationships among those factors. In this research, we employed a directed graph called Influence Deiagram as a tool for problem structuring. In particular, our proposed system is designed as a shell. Therefore, a decision maker can change the content of the knowledge base to suit his/her own interested domain.

  • Considering stress singularities at point support locations, buckling solutions for plates with arbitrary number of point supports are hard to obtain. Thus, new Hp-Cloud shape functions with Kronecker delta property (HPCK) were developed in the present paper to examine elastic buckling of point-supported thin plates in various shapes. Having the Kronecker delta property, this specific Hp-Cloud shape functions were constructed through selecting particular quantities for influence radii of nodal points as well as proposing appropriate enrichment functions. Since the given quantities for influence radii of nodal points could bring about poor quality of interpolation for plates with sharp corners, the radii were increased and the method of Lagrange multiplier was used for the purpose of applying boundary conditions. To demonstrate the capability of the new Hp-Cloud shape functions in the domain of analyzing plates in different geometry shapes, various test cases were correspondingly investigated and the obtained findings were compared with those available in the related literature. Such results concerning these new Hp-Cloud shape functions revealed a significant consistency with those reported by other researchers.

  • It is becoming increasingly clear that eukaryotic genomes are subjected to higher-order chromatin organization by the CCCTC-binding factor/cohesin complex. Their dynamic interactions in three dimensions within the nucleus regulate gene transcription by changing the chromatin architecture. Such spatial genomic organization is functionally important for the spatial disposition of chromosomes to control cell fate during development and differentiation. Thus, the dysregulation of proper long-range chromatin interactions may influence the development of tumorigenesis and cancer progression.

  • In this paper, we propose an audio extraction method to decrease the influence of the original signal by modifying the watermarking detection system proposed by P. Bassia et al. In the extraction of the watermark, we employ a simple mean filter to remove the influence of the original signal as a preprocessing of extraction and the repetitive insertion of the watermark. As the result of the experiment, for which we used about 20 kinds of actual audio data, we obtain a watermark detection rate of about 95% and a good performance even after the various signal processing attacks.

  • Despite their potential value, the mobile Internet services in the domestic market have not been widely accepted as industry experts have expected. To understand why, this study uses the TAM, Technology Acceptance Model, and explores the factors affecting the usage behavior of the end-users. Based on statistical analysis of survey data, we show that social influence and perceived ease of use affect perceived usefulness, and that self-efficacy and focus significantly influence perceived ease of use. Furthermore, perceived usefulness is shown to play a significant role in explaining actual usage of the mobile Internet services. However, contrary to the hypothesized relationships, service quality, focus, and innovativeness of users turn out to have little impact on the traditional endogenous TAM variables such as perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and actual usage behavior. Based on these results, we attempt to provide managerial implications for the domestic mobile Internet service providers and to suggest future research directions in this domain of research.

  • Home theft and burglary are prevalent in Dhaka city. Internet of things (IoT), in contrast, is commonly recognized as among the most advanced home security systems. However, the factors that attract young people to use IoT for household security have yet to be examined. Consequently, the purpose of this article is to validate the attitude-social influence-self-efficacy (ASE) model with personal innovativeness and perceived trust. We collected data from Dhaka citizens aged 15 to 24 using a purposive sample technique and 370 valid responses were chosen for the study. According to the analysis, all of our proposed hypotheses were found significant with a 73.6% variance. Furthermore, the effects of attitude and social influence were shown to be the highest and lowest, respectively, and trust and innovativeness were both nearly strong main predictors of ASE. Significantly, since this is one of the few studies in the technology adoption domain using this model, a solid foundation for IoT adoption for security purposes is established.

  • Decision class analysis (DCA) is viewed as a classification problem where a set of input data (situation-specific knowledge) and output data (a topological leveled influence diagram (ID)) is given. Situation-specific knowledge is usually given from a decision maker (DM) with the help of domain expert(s). But it is not easy for the DM to know the situation-specific knowledge of decision problem exactly. This paper presents a methodology fur sensitivity analysis of DCA under incomplete information. The purpose of sensitivity analysis in DCA is to identify the effects of incomplete situation-specific frames whose uncertainty affects the importance of each variable in the resulting model. For such a purpose, our suggested methodology consists of two procedures: generative procedure and adaptive procedure. An interactive procedure is also suggested based the sensitivity analysis to build a well-formed ID. These procedures are formally explained and illustrated with a raw material purchasing problem.
