  • In this paper, a 0.5~4 GHz frequency synthesizer having good phase noise performance is proposed. Wideband output frequencies of the synthesizer were synthesized using DDS(Direct Digital Synthesizer) and analog direct frequency synthesis technology in order to obtain fast settling time. Also in order to get good phase noise performance, 2.4 GHz DDS clock was generated by VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) which was locked by the 100 MHz reference oscillator using SPD(Sample Phase Detector). The phase noise performance of wideband frequency synthesizer was estimated and the results were compared with the measured ones. The measured phase noise of the frequency synthesizer was less then -121 dBc @ 100 kHz at 4 GHz.

  • This paper presents a single-phase transformerless photovoltaic (PV) power converter systems based on the AC/DC boost inverter, which is capable of solving the leakage current and second-order ripple power issues. By eliminating the inherent ripple power in single-phase inverter, the bulky electrolytic capacitor can be replaced by a small film capacitor. The validity of the proposed scheme has been verified by the simulation results.

  • Quasi-phase-match (QPM) can be realized by means of one-dimensional spatial modulation of second-order nonlinear susceptibility and has advantages over the conventional bulk phase-matching method because QPM can not only utilize the largest component of second-order nonlinear susceptibility tensor, but also can circumvent walk-off effect. • In this paper we explore the susceptibility of common sensitive loads by voltage sags of power distribution systems. The experimental approach was used for obtaining the susceptibility of single-phase loads and the three-phase induction motor. The experimental result of single-phase loads was transformed to the ITIC(Information of Technology Industry Council) format and used for evaluating the adverse impacts of a individual and repetitive sags using the performance contour of the foreign standard data. In order to assess the impact of voltage sags on three-phase induction motor, also, the experiment was peformed. The experiment was focused on the current, torque, and speed loss of the motor during a voltage sag. For comparing the impacts of individual and repetitive voltage sags, the variations of motor torque is focused among the experimental results. The sensitive curves of instantaneous current peak are used to describe the susceptibility of three-phase induction motor and 진so it were used for the quantitative analysis of the impact of three-phase induction motor due to voltage sags. Through the results of experiment, we verified that some types loads have more severe impact at repetitive voltage sags than individual ones and proposed method can be effectively used to evaluate the actual impact of voltage sags.

  • Fault currents are expressed as a combination of harmonic components and exponentially decaying DC offset components, during the occurrence of fault in power system. The DC offset components are included, when the voltage phase angle of fault inception is closer to $0^{\circ}$ or $180^{\circ}$. The digital protection relay should be detected quickly and accurately during the faults, despite of the distortions of relaying signal by these components. It is very important to implement the robust protection algorithm, that is not affected by DC offset and harmonic components, because most relaying algorithms extract the fundamental frequency component from distorted relaying signal. So, In order to high performance in relaying, advanced DC offset removal filter is required. In this paper, a new DC offset removal filter, which is no need to preset a time constant of power system and accurately estimate the DC offset components with one cycle of data, is proposed, and compared with the other filter. In order to verify performance of the filter, we used collecting the current signals after synchronous machine modeling by ATPDraw5.7p4 software. The results of simulation, the proposed DC offset removal filter do not need any prior information, the phase delay and gain error were not occurred.

  • This study discusses a non-contact optical technique, phase shifting electronic speckle pattern interferometry, that is well suited for a deformation measurement. However, the phase shifting method has difficulties for determinating a deformation quantitatively beacuse of the characteristics of arctan function. In order to solve this problem, phase unwrapping methods has been studied during the last few years. In this study, using phase unwrapping based on line by line scanning phase shifted fringe patterns are studied to determinate a deformation quantitatively. Also least square fitting method is applied to reduce noise and improve image resolution.

  • In this paper, the effect of porosity on the acoustic phase velocity of the 3D printed Kelvin closed-cell structure was investigated using the spectral phase analysis. Since Kelvin cells bring about the large amount of scattering, acoustic pulses in ultrasonic measurements undergoes a distortion of waveforms due to the dispersion effect. In order to take account on the dispersion, mathematical expressions for calculating the phase velocity of longitudinal waves propagating normal to the plane of the Kelvin structure are suggested by introducing a complex wave number based on Fourier transform. 3D Kelvin structure composed of identical unit-cells, a polyhedron of 14 faces with 6 quadrilateral and 8 hexagonal faces, was developed and fabricated by 3D CAD and 3D printer to represent the micro-structure of porous materials such as aluminum foam and cancellous bone. Total nine samples of 3D Kelvin structure with different porosity were made by changing the thickness of polyhedron. Ultrasonic pulse of 1MHz center frequency was applied to the Kelvin structures for the measurement of the phase velocity of ultrasound using the TOF(time-of-flight) and the phase spectral method. From the experimental results, it was found that the acoustic phase velocity decreased linearly with the porosity.

  • In order to control DC motors for electric cars by chopper system, four quadrant operations - forward powering, forward regenerative braking, reverse powering, reverse regenerative braking - are needed. For the four quadrant operations, the separately - excited DC motors are used in this study. The conversion of each quadrant operation has been obtained by 1) adopting the two phase chopper system with combined output for the armature control, and 2) the single phase chopper system for the field control.

  • It is analyzed how performance of phase-locked loop driven by photodetector current in optical receiver will be changed under the condition that Gaussian thermal noise, pattern noise and shot noise are present and the loop has the nonzero detuning frequency. The phase error variance cahnges with the circuit configuration and the produced noise models. The analyzed results are applied to the previously implemented 90.194Mbps optic system whose loop filter is the improved active noninverting 1-st order lag-lead type.
