In Oriental Medicine, Atopic dermatitis(AD) belongs to the category of the Naseun, Taesun(胎癬), Taeryumchang(胎斂瘡), Eczema(濕疹), Seupchang(濕瘡), Samanpung(四彎風), Chimumchang(浸淫瘡). The Basic Prescriptions which have been used for treatment of Atopic dermatitis are saengryusamultang(生料四物湯), Onchungeum(溫淸飮), Seungmagalgeuntang(升麻葛根湯),Hoichunryangkyuksan(回春凉膈散), Doghengsan(導赤散), Pyungweesan(平胃散), Heungbangpaedoksan(荊防敗毒散), Goomigangharltang(九味羌活湯), Baekhotang(白虎湯), Gaegytang(桂枝湯), Yukmigihyuangtang(六味地黃湯). AD can divide three groups, Acute-Type, Semiacute-Type, Chronic-Type, according to it's condition. This study shows that it can be applicate Seungmagalgeuntang(升麻葛根湯), Hoichunryangkyuksan(回春凉膈散), Doghengsan(導赤散), Heungbangpaedoksan(荊防敗毒散), Goomigangharltang(九味羌活湯), Baekhotang(白虎湯), Gaegytang(桂枝湯) for treatment of Acute-Type, Pyungweesan(平胃散) for treatment of Semiacute-Type, and saengryusamultang(生料四物湯), Oncungeum(溫淸飮) for treatment fo Chronic-Type.

Objectives : This study is to investigate the anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects of Tongbi-san extract (TS) on RAW264.7 macrophages using by cell cytotoxicity, Nitric Oxide (NO) and Prostaglandin $E_2$ ($PGE_2$) production and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl ghdrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging capability. Methods : Cell cytotoxicity was measured by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The production of NO was measured by Griess assay. The production of $PGE_2$ was measured by immunoassay. And the anti-oxidant activity was measured by the DPPH method. Results : TS did not increased significantly compared to the TS untreated group in the cell cytotoxicity. TS inhibited NO and $PGE_2$ production in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. TS had the DPPH free radical scavenging capability. Conclusion : The anti-inflammtory and anti-oxidant effects of TS may be use for a treatment of anti-inflammatory diseases.

Objectives : This study is to research the trend of the oriantal medical treatment for tinnitus and to establish the hereafter direction for the study on oriantal medical treatment for tinnitus. Methods : We reviewed the domestic articles published last eleven years(2000- 2010). Results : We have searched 21 articles in 5 journals of korean oriental medical ophthalmology &dermatology, korean acupuncture & moxibustion, korean oriental medicine, oriental physiology & pathology, sasang constitutional medicine. 1. There were the most research done 2006. They have 5 articles. In other years there were 3 or less articles. 2. The pattern of study was as follow: the consideration of documents were 5, clinical trials were 6, case studies were 8 and the others were 2. the rate of case studies were increased. 3. After mid 2000s, there were more studies of new research method appearing. Conclusions : The oriental medical treatment already effective for tinnitus. But we need more studies about various kind of oriental medical treatment for tinnitus.

청열해독(淸熱解毒) 작용을 하는 포공영의 항알러지 효과를 알아보기 위하여 RBL-2H3 cell line에 PMA와 A23187을 자극한 후 RBL-2H3 cell내 과립의 degranulation의 억제정도를 살펴보기 위하여 ${\beta}-Hexosaminidase$의 누출량의 억제 정도를 살펴본 결과 포공영은 농도 의존적으로 현저하게 degranulation을 억제하였다. 알러지 반응 시 세포내에서 분비되어 중요한 작용을 하는 것으로 알려진 사이토카인인 $TNF-{\alpha}$, IL-4의 합성조절 정+도를 살펴본 결과, $TNF-{\alpha}$, IL-4의 mRNA 수준에서의 발현의 조절을 통한 합성도 억제하였다. 이 결과로 보아 포공영은 알레르기와 관련된 질환에 치료약물로서 응용이 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

Meniere's disease is a syndrome with characteristic three symptoms(tinnitus, hearing loss and vertigo). The main pathology is imer lymphdropy by various causes. Western therapy consists of a dietary treatment, medication and a operation. But in these days, Meniere's disease is almost incurable. So we experienced one case of Meniere's disease treated with oriental medical treatment as like acupuncture, herbal medication etc. 37 year-old female patient had a diagnosed Meniere's disease by western medical doctor and had been treated for one year. But there has not been effective. After oriental medical Ueatment, Meniere's disease was recoverd at the end of one month.

Psoriasis is a common genetically determined, chronic, inflammatory skin disease characterized by rounded crythematous, dry, scaling patches. It is caused to blood heat(血熱), shortage of blood(血燥) and blood stasis(血瘀) in oriental medicine. We treated a patient who suffered from chroinc and recurred psoriasis, and who was differenciated with endogenous wind due to shortage blood(血燥生風) with Danguiumjagagam(當歸飮子加減). After 10 days of treatment with Danguiumjagagam(當歸飮子加減) and acupunture, we observed an improvement. Based on this experience, it is considered that oriental medicine can be applied to the treatment of psoriasis.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of topical nasal application of Herbal medicine compared with Western medicine in the treatment of Allergic Rhinitis(AR). Methods : Electronic databases including Cochrane library, PubMed, EMBASE, CNKI, KMBASE, KISS, NDSL, OASIS, KISS and KJTK(Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal) were searched by the keywords such as 'allergic rhinitis', 'nasal sprays', 'herbal medicine', 'plant extracts', and 'external application'. The quality of each RCTs was assessed by Cochrane Collaboration of 'Risk of bias(RoB) Tool'. Results : 19 RCTs were finally selected from 1419 references screened. 19 RCTs were compared with the effects of topical nasal application of Herbal medicine and Western medicine. Based on the symptom scores from 13 RCTs, topical nasal application of herbal medicine generally has a better effect on relief of AR. The two treatments have similar effects on improving the level of specific factors like IgE, IgG, IL-13, $uLTD_4$ in blood and urine. 8 RCTs showed adverse effects(AEs) in both groups and severe AEs were not reported. Conclusions : This study shows that topical nasal application of herbal medicine can improve symptoms and related factors of allergic rhinitis. Well-designed RCT studies with low risk of bias should be conducted to confirm these findings.

Objective : We investigated relationship between tinnitus and temporomandibular disorder(TMD) and tried to find approach possibility in oriental medicine. Method : We searched Pubmed, Scopus, The Cocharane library and additional sources for published and unpublished trials. Search word was "Tinnitus and TMD" Result : We investigated 18 studies. We divided these studies into three parts, epidemiological studies, mechanical studies and treatment studies. In many epidemiological studies. there was significant relationship between tinnitus and TMD. The mechanism was not clear but in recently several studies proposed neurological approach. TMD treatment showed significant improvement in tinnitus accompanied by TMD. Conclusion : In tinnitus accompanied by TMD, TMD treatment can be available to resolve or reduce tinnitus. Especially in oriental medicine acupuncture can be applied to treat this.

Object : This study was focused on finding out the better method of medical treatment of concussion after whiplash injury. Methods : This study has been carried out for two cases of concussion after whiplash injury which had been hospitalized at the Kangnam Oriental medical Hospital of the Dongguk University Results and conclusions : The concussion is caused by whiplash injury about $47\%. In the symptoms of concussion, there are lightheadedness, dizziness, neck pain, headache, photophobia, phonophobia, anamnesis disorder, concentration disorder, tinnitus, irritability, etc. It is considered more important that the treatment of nausea and vomiting than the removal of stagnation of blood. Oriental medical treatments including of herb-medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, chuna, taping have more economic favor and rapid effects than the others. so we report on two cases.

Background and Aim : As the aged society is coming, people pay attention to it and the government is also increasing subsidy into the welfare of the aged. As a branch of social welfare, community welfare is familiar and close to local residents. We could open up a new field in community welfare for oriental medicine and oriental medical doctor(OMD). Materials and Method : Analyzing the worts of community welfare center, we tried to find ways for OMDs to take part in there. We focused m community care and home care service of community welfare center and community health center. Result : Free oriental medical services are offered in many places, but a lot of them are temporary and hard to continue due to financial problem and lack of specialist. Local residents want to know about oriental medicine but few OMDs are willing to participate, thereforen, unqualified lectures of such as hand acupuncture, moxibustion, meridian massage prevail among them. This leads to illegal oriental medical services in the name of volunteer medical work. Conclusion The system is needed that local OMD association take part in community welfare of oriental medical service and care with community welfare center and community health center. Local volunteer medical services and researches of medical policy can help increase the chance for OMDs to go into social welfare system of the aged.
