The present study was carried out to establish several spermatotoxicity test methods. For this purpose we investigated following parameters in the fertility study of DA-125, a new anticancer agent, in rats: testicular spermatid counts, epididymal sperm counts, daily sperm production rate, sperm morphology, and serum testosterone concentration. Motility and velocity of sperms were also measured using non-treated rats. At 0.3 mg DA-125/kg, spermatids per 1g testis and daily sperm production rate per 1g testis were significantly decreased, when compared with those of control group. Several types of abnormal sperms, such as no head, pin head, double head, hook at wrong angle, no tail, and small sperm, were found in both treated and control groups at a low frequency. Serum testosterone concentration at 0.3 mg DA-125/kg was close to the control value. Sperm motility and velocity measured with non-treated rats were in a good agreement with the results of other investigators. In our study established spermatotoxicity test methods can be used as a tool not only for the close examination of the cause of drug- or chemical-induced infertility, but also for the effective evaluation of reproductive toxicity.

Postoperative suture granuloma have rarely been reported in animals. Eight biopsy masses from testes areas of neutralized dogs were diagnosed as suture granuloma. The suture granuloma occurred at any time from several weeks to a few years after surgery and appeared to be testicular tumors by macroscopic examination. The granulomas were classified into three types based on the histopathological findings. The first type of pyogranuloma was mainly composed of neutrophils, macrophages, and suture fragments. The second type was chronic necrotizing granuloma which was well demarcated by fibrous connective tissues and was composed of a few suture fragments, macrophages and central fibrinoid necrosis. The third type of granuloma had a poorly defined margin with scarcely observed suture fragments and central necrosis in the tissue. These histopathological findings suggested that various types of suture granuloma may be caused by suture material and could even appear long after surgery.

In order to study the reproductive physiology of Sand ell(Hypoptichus dybowskii) catched at kangwon-do, Wooamjin Bay, spawning and egg development were investigated in April and May, 1996. The observed spawning period was from the middle of April to the end of May with the water temperature above $8^{\circ}$C. Body size and colouration were distinguished between male and female. The type of testicular structure is lobular, and the ovary is a pair of sac-sahaped covering with a fibromuscula capsule and comprising a mature egg of average 86. The unfertilzed egg are demersal and adhesive, and their diameter were 1.65-1.95 mm. the colour of yolk is light yellow and contained a lot of tiny oil globules. The average spawned egg was 62 in sargasso weeds. Hatching was observed in 12 days after fertilization with the water temperature of 14 ${\pm}1^{\circ}$C. The average size of larva after hatching was 6.85${\pm}$0.23mm in total length, and larva were containing yolk including globule.

Identification of spermatogonial stern cell-specific surface molecules is important in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the maintenance and differentiation of these cells. We have found that spermatogonia from busulfan treated mice expressed an autoantigen that distinguishes between undifferentiated and differentiated spermatogonia. Four to six weeks after busulfan treatment, germ cells located in the basal compartment of seminiferous epithelium show isotype-specific IgG deposits that form due to autoimmunity. (omitted)

It has been hypothesized that environmental estrogens may play roles in the increasing incidence of breast and testicular cancers and another problems of the reproductive systems. Alkylphenols which are widely used as plastic additives and surfactants have been shown to induce estrogenic responses. The E-screen assay was developed to assess the estrogenedity of environmental chemicals using the profiferation effect of estrogens on their target cells as an end point. (omitted)

It has been well known that infertile women experience not only emotional disturbance but also stress. But there is no concern about male infertility patients. So phychiatric symptoms were studied with SCL-90 (Symptom Check List-90) in 30 infertile men who was operated testicular sperm extraction (TESE) in Samsung Cheil Hospital and in age matched 31 fertile men from Jan. 1998 to Aug. 1998. In 5 symptom dimensions (Obcessive-Compulsive, Interpersonal Sensitivity, Depression, Phobic anxiety, Psychoticisim) scores. The Infertile group scored significantly higher than the control group. The result revealed that infertile men also experienced substantially more psychiatric symptoms than fertile men. Considering this results, psychiatric evaluation and tender care by infertility specialist are necessary for infertile men during and after evaluation and treatment.
